Greendrop also quoted us $3000 to replace 2 front tie-rod ends. A job that Honest-1 completed for $600. The prices are so much higher at greendrop and the service is not as good. After going in for a weird sound they found $580 worth to fix (not to say it wasn't needed) but the weird sound persisted so I had to bring it back in. Quoted me $2000+ while the Toyota dealership quoted me $900. Based on other 1 star reviews, seems like they have a problem with diagnosing on first visit. When the manager stopped returning my calls over the next 48 hours, I walked to the garage on Wednesday afternoon only to discover that the mechanic had to guess at a diagnosis which cost me $105. Fixing the issue was going to cost another $900 and likely take a week to repair because "those Prius parts take longer to order." Green Drop, stick to "green" oil changes that make PDX drivers feel better about themselves, because your shop on MLK is useless. Go here if you want depression. I came here in hopes of getting a leak fixed. Initially paid $236.25 for them to diagnose. They said drain plug was what was causing leak, stoped leaking after 20 min monitoring. I picked up my car, took it home, and it was still leaking. I had to come back the next morning for them to tell me "It appears as if two things are happening: 1- an oil change service was recently done and the oil filter housing o-ring was either ripped or not replaced. 2- the timing chain tensioner was recently replaced, but the gasket was not replaced." Oil change is accurate... Time chain tensioner is not. They want me to get an oil change and replace my chain tensioner gasket. They never asked me: "did you recently replace the time chain tensioner?" I am a student and am disappointed that I had to come back the next day because they couldn't identify that my o-ring was ripped or not replaced the first time I came in. And that they sent me home even though my car was still leaking oil. If you have time to go back and forth to the mechanic and other forms of transportation this place should work for you. They also suggested other recommended services, with outrageous prices. This place is clearly focused on making a profit and not on communicating with the customer directly. For folks with a Prius, I recommend Atomic Auto Hybrid Repair. For a price comparison, replacing spark plug at Atomic Auto is $308.75 vs at Green Drop Garage it is $633.53. Another comparison, Atomic Auto for break fluid flush $230.85 vs $474.94 at Green Drop Garage. Atomic Auto has better reviews. I wish I saved myself time and money by going there first. My $236.25 did not go towards an oil change or any sort of recommended repair. Atomic Auto will do this very same diagnostic procedure AND MORE (which includes an oil change) FOR $123!!! If you add the oil change $145.00+236.25= 381.25. It's three hundred eighty one dollars for $123 procedure at a higher reviewed more specialized mechanic. This place makes me sick. read more

I have used Green Drop for years for my 2000 Mercedes, 2006 Toyota and 2018 Hyundai. Obviously they can work on all makes and models and do repairs well beyond simple oil changes. And speaking of Oil Changes...they actually do that without interrogating you about your car's "needs" and guilt trip upselling. You know who I'm talking about. It's so great to get a service without the lecture! I just joined because my check engine light came on, I was way overdue for an oil change, and they are close enough that I could walk home after dropping my car off. I drive enough that the quarterly oil changes will make the subscription worth it, even with the $45 fee to join. My first time through was fast and the car was done before they said it would be. They gave a quote for a transmission flush of $290 which seems high, so I'll either get a second opinion, or we will see how it looks next quarter and move on it from there. read more

Most of the GreenDrop locations have been fantastic to work with. The SE Sellwood/Moreland location was our trouble spot. We primarily used this location due its close proximity to our house (we could walk to/from for drop off/pick up of cars for maintenance and repairs). The service at this location had gone way downhill so we ended our membership and took our business elsewhere. I will say I was impressed with the general manager who went out of his way to contact us, speak with us about our concerns, and was genuinely professional and took our feedback seriously. Terrible customer service. I had made an appointment to get an oil change. Showed up and they said it would be about hour. I came back over an hour later and the car was still not ready. Waited and they had a long list of things that needed to be fixed but the most important thing was that there was something in one my tires so I asked for just that to be fixed. Well that seemed to annoy and they weren't as friendly as before. Said it would be about another hour to get the tire fixed. Okay so I left and came back over an hour later. It was then that they stated that there was nothing wrong with tire just something stuck in the ridges. So for a simple oil change which there was an appointment for it took almost 3 hours from start to finish. Fast forward a few weeks and suddenly my car is running rough and lights are coming on. Took the car to a different auto shop. And turns out the same tire that needed to be repaired was falling off the rod. And was informed that the tire could have came off at anytime. Each time they said it was good to go and when I left, my car didn't even make it home and had to get it towed back once again. Every time I have taken my car in for a regular oil change I am kept at the front desk at the end of service while they go over an exhaustive list of services that I "" need right away or my car will break down on the side of the road. I don't appreciate scare tactics I don't appreciate being missed lead, I've told him multiple times I only use this garage for oil changes and do not get my service done here, that's partly because I one time got service done and when I took it to my regular mechanic they said that it look like someone had smashed the inside with a hammer. Had my tire pressure gauge turn on this past weekend and got really nervous to be driving around town, so I immediately messaged Green Drop Garage while I was at the DMV and got immediate responses! Farhad was helpful in assisting me and even suggested for me to come to this location since they had more bandwidth here. Which was convenient for me since its only 2 miles away from my house, so it was perfect! I sent in my ETA and upon arrival was greeted by both Bichon & Ian who already knew I was coming! Both of them were extremely friendly and really made the time fly by as James inspected my car. I told them what my concerns were and they were so incredible. What I loved was that they never tried to push for any additional services and just helped me with what was most important to me. Turns out that the gauge just turned on due to the drop in temperature PDX just experienced. I asked Ian if there was a fee at all, and he said just a high five! They really took care of me here, and were genuine from the get go. The service check was so incredibly quick, and felt even quicker due to the friendly staff. I was thinking of getting my oil change since my maintenance light just recently turned on as well, and now I know where to go! Especially since they have a new Green Drop Prime program for $15 a month which includes; oil changes, replacement wipers, top offs on fluids, and air filters, etc. I took a photo and posted it just now as well. Its $18 a month if you use synthetic oil like I do. I definitely go on a lot of road trips with my Prius so I'm so glad that I found this perfect corner shop I can count on! I always ride my car out till it absolutely needs a tune up, which may be good for my budget but maybe not so much for longevity of the car. So I'm glad I stumbled upon this place and this plan. Bichon also let me know they're also going to have another plan coming into the works that gives your car an full tune up with a monthly fixed price as well, so stay tuned if that sounds intriguing to you. I'm sad to say this, but since my first visit with Green Drop, it's gone downhill and is quite disrespectful. The issues didn't begin until last year when I read on Instagram that Farhad announced that he was going to start charging new customer's a "membership fee" to join. This didn't feel right to me. They already ask for contracts and you do have to pay a penalty if you leave the contract early, so why charge people a fee to sign up who would be dedicated to a good business if it provides a good service? I let Farhad know of my displeasure about this change on Instagram. The previous office manager at Moreland, Tyler, was sweet, courteous and professional. I inquired with him the cost of repairing my driver's side window at one time and they quoted me $391. I felt that was a little pricey to fix a window and had a friend who is a mechanic who opened the window in less then 5 minutes and informed me of a part that only cost $7.99. On another occasion, I inquired about getting additional work done, the catalytic converter replaced on my car and was informed it would cost almost $1400. I felt that this price was again steep and called other shops to compare pricing. As my gut instinct was correct, I was being quoted almost double the price at green drop then I was being quoted at 2 other shops. I expressed my concerns with Tyler in person and he did mention that overall they charge more the other shops but that's because they believe their work to be superior. I didn't argue with him, as I couldn't say. I was coming from woodburn at the time, because I saw the value in the oil change service. That doesn't mean overcharging their customer's was okay, in my opinion. A few months later I had my car serviced and noticed Tyler was gone. I had my 2 girls with me as usual. We usually wait in the lobby when it's raining, but because of covid, were not permitted inside. We had to stand outside next to the window in the rain while we waited for the car to get serviced. I noticed there were chairs inside and asked if we could use them to sit on. I understand about not being inside closed spaces but in a state that has rain 8+ months out of the year, you would have thought that they would have at least thought or considered customers who have to wait there? So, I went home and emailed Farad about how we weren't even offered the chairs...I had to ask. We now come from Salem to do business with Green drop because I believe in supporting small business, especially ones that claim to care for the planet and people. Instead of receiving an apology for the mistreatment he sent back an email that was praising him and his business for now having a solution the next time we visited them. I will say that upon our next visit, there was a tent there and chairs outside. They even brought out a gas heater to warm the 3 of us up. I felt that after all of my concerns that they must have wanted to make things right. Well, on our last visit, I'm sad to say when we arrived we weren't noticed. Upon walking into the office, both men there were slumped over and unhappy. I dropped off my keys and took my girls out for a run around Reed college. In the past when we've been out in good weather for our run around reed, we get a call letting us know the car is ready. It's usually right after we finish a game of chess. We finished our hike, went to the market down the street and upon returning to green drop, our car was sitting in the parking lot with the manager and the auto technician in the parking lot just having a good talk. I walked up to the lobby and waited. After a few minutes I decided to just ask if I could get my car. He got up, got my car keys and told me the technician said I would need new breaks soon and the transmission fluid needed to be changed. I felt this was odd since less then a month before I had purchased this car and had my good friend and mechanic with me who said the breaks were spectacular and had inspected the fluids. We even discussed having him change my timing belt, so had there been extra work the vehicle needed, he would have told me because he wants the work. I didn't say anything to the young man, because as I mentioned in the past I felt green drops prices were too high. After leaving I went to clean my windshield and noticed no water coming out, so I figured they must have forgot to fill the fluids. I called the shop to inquire about this and the young man informed me that the technician noticed my tubes were installed wrong. I asked him why they didn't call me or let me know when I was there so I could see about it getting fixed? He did mention he had only been there 2 days, but the manager has been there a while now. This comes down to just people not caring anymore. I emailed Farhad and he simply replied cancelling my membership. First off if you get nothing from this... Don't use Green Drop Garage in West Moreland. What do you think happened? I almost died yesterday. I pulled onto McLoughlin off Bybee at 4pm. Yesterday headed south. There's not an on ramp so you really have to accelerate quickly. I hit the gas and my normally peppy little Mazda had no zoom. The truck speeding down McLoughlin at 50 miles per hour had to slam on their brakes as not to crush my little car. I also noticed some white smoke coming off the exhaust, eventually it was so thick I couldn't see out my rearview mirror. My car has never had an issue before. I've had it for 6 years and it's been extremely reliable. Before the above happened I had dropped off my car at GDG. When I dropped it off it was running perfectly. I called GDG multiple times while driving home. I drove my car to Kevin's house where we drained an extra quart and a half of extra oil, on top of everything that burned off while on the most scary drive of my life. GDG claims no responsibility, and tells me that they didn't even change my oil because I was 1500 miles too early. Yet the sticker tells me to come back in January or after another 5k miles. This is shady on it's own. They were completely gaslighting me. No one added oil to my vehicle but them and they overfilled it. And yet they claim they didn't. So do not use Green Drop Garage they will not take care of you and deny responsibility if they do mess up.​ read more

Hi, my name is Marina and I had a horrible experience with the Green Drop Garage. Here is the full story: On 9/14/2017 they replaced axels for our vehicle, charging us $717.50 for the parts and labor. On 2/1/2018 we had the same issue with the car for which we brought it to them in the first place (shaking while accelerating), and they determined that the axles failed, and replaced them at no charge to us as the axles were under warranty. On 1/13/2018 we had the same issue with the car, and they determined that the axles failed again, replacing them again under warranty. On 6/18/2018 once again we had the same issue with the car, and at this time we took it to the Toyota dealership for repair. Toyota dealership determined that not only the axles failed, but that these were aftermarket axels and they didn't fit properly. Also, one of them seized into the transmission, damaging the transmission case. They replaced both axles with new, original Toyota axles. Since the axels were under warranty, I brought them to the Green Drop Garage and wrote them a letter demanding a refund plus reimbursement for lost work (we use the car for work). What bothered me the most at that time was that at no point we were told that they were installing an after market parts. Both, my partner and myself had no idea and were under full belief that Green Drop Garage replaced our axles with new, original Toyota axles. The owner then wrote a letter back. He said that we knew that these were aftermarket axles, because it stated on the invoice "GSP left front CV alxe" and "GSP right CV axle". Somehow I was supposed to know that GSP stands for "aftermarket" without being told that directly? Here are other highlights of his letter. I am quoting parts of his letter as is. "Your car is used to tow a large trailer, and has other problems that are causing failures. We also had a conversation with the Toyota dealership about your car. After talking with them, we now strongly believe that your car transmission failure / vibration will cause any new axle to fail permanently (Even the new ones you just got from Toyota." Hah? We took the owner's statement seriously, and took the car back to the Toyota dealership. We requested to perform a full diagnostic examination by their Toyota-certified mechanics to see if our car has any "other problems" and determine if our transmission is failing as the owner of the Green Drop Garage stated. The car was found to be in a great shape (including the transmission) and we have an official letter from Toyota confirming that. We also checked with the employee from Toyota who spoke with the Green Drop Garage and he said that yes, they called and tried to convince him that our transmission was in default. He never agreed with them, and even put it in writing for us. Back to the letter from the owner. After Farhad made a statement about our transmission failing, he wrote this: "If so, the replacements we performed should be charged, and not under warranty. We have outstanding invoices for the 2 we initially believed were under warranty replacements. We discounted the invoice to $0, but I have removed the discount, as new information came to light. We will go to small claims court for payment on those if we continue to hear from you." When I showed this to the Toyota management, they called it "poor business practices." The owner also threatened to leave a bad review on our dog grooming business Yelp page if I leave one on his, even though he was never our customer for dog grooming. We reported this to Yelp. And finally, and what hurt me the most, is what I perceive as a customer and language discrimination. Although the letter was signed by both, me and my life partner Adam, Farhad singled me out and treated me differently than Adam by making the following statement: "By the way, you have great reviews on Yelp - it is obvious Adam is the person dealing with clients and not Marina." Also, I am a US citizen, but as you probably can tell from my writing, English is not my first language. Here is the last line of his letter, which I found to be profoundly arrogant: "Also, please use a spell-check for any future correspondence." One of my Portland friends recommended this place and it was a life-saver. They have various locations but I was at the 9th Street location in downtown Portlandia. I was visiting Portland recently to get away from the massive California fires and smoke. I drove through some gnarly conditions to get into Oregon and my car ended up having many issues that needed my attention. I went in for a start-up issue but was amazed at the thorough diagnosis of my vehicle that Green Drop gave, with pictures, video, notes and up-keep text reviews. I had recently bought a used Dodge Caravan and had determined it was a lemon prior to my Cali evac, but the guys at Green Drop really took care of my car. The staff and Mechanics were very friendly, were on top of the issue and the turn around for my car was relatively quick. It turned out my car needed a lot of TLC but I wouldn't have known this had I not gone to Green Drop. I had already replaced the transmission in my car and the other two mechanic shops I had taken it to prior to Green Drop never mentioned other issues even though they expressed that they looked over my car. This was huge for me. Green Drop obviously does the work! They have the skillset, the technology and the man power to get things done and it shows. At the time I ended up at Green Drop, I couldn't afford all the repairs, but the work that was done was thorough and well done. I would go back and I would recommend this place to anyone in that area needing car care. One last note is that, Harvie, one of the mechanics/technicians, helped me understand my cars mechanics for the ride back to Cali. He was a true lifesaver for this vehicle!! I picked my truck up and immediately took it to Les Schwab to have my battery tested. Les Schwab showed me the the test and my battery was great. I recently made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. I was told when dropping off the car that it would take an hour and a half. I was okay with this, even though it seemed like a long time especially having made a reservation and they did not seem especially busy on a Tuesday morning. I came back 1:20 later, and they had not pulled the car or started the service. They did quickly pull the car and begin work shortly after I had returned. In all, i think it took 1:45 for the simple service that probably takes 15 minutes to perform. On the positive side, they do allow dogs and have good drinks available in the waiting area. I hate to leave a bad review- but the quality of repair was dismal at best. I had my brake calipers changed on my 2010 Tucson. Less than 6 months later the brakes went out- brake pedal to the floor, no brakes. I managed to get the car across town to them and they repaired it under warranty....the same thing continued to happen once a month - 5 times in one year (and it's only sep) This is a serious safety issue!!! On top of that they keep replacing the defective part with a part from the same manufacturer and it continues to be defective. I know this is not an installation issue, but it is insanity for them to keep performing the same repair and using defective parts that put me and my children at risk. I have taken my car elsewhere for repair and will be cancelling my membership- my and my children's safety deserve better. read more

Guys. This is what a car garage should be. Don't fool around with other places. I've taken both my car and my husband's in the last two weeks. My husband doesn't know much about cars and typically suffers from horrible anxiety when it's time to take his car in. I am a licensed aircraft mechanic but suffer from being trapped in a female body with all of the typical assumptions that brings at many other garages--(I'm looking at you Jiffy Lube on 82nd). Both of us had outstanding experiences at Green Drop. Green Drop's approach to car maintenance is more akin to coaching than anything else which is way better than the arm wrestle I normally feel like I'm doing when I get an oil change. They were able to identify a number of future problems that we need to address (with photographs!) and provide honest, helpful feedback on how critical it was to address those quickly or sometime in the next year. I never felt pressured and definitely was never "man-splained". It was like talking shop with the guys at work...except I was just 26 year old woman to them. They never treated me like I was an easy mark. Their customer service was killer, especially Jake who dealt with my disaster of trying to use a coupon online. They'll have my undying loyalty if all my visits are as painless and helpful, which I expect them to be. Called them again about it and they said they would contact me back, I called them multiple times leaving messages I was never actually able to set up an appointment with them. Don't know if they are just busy or we're having issues that month. Eventually went else whet to get my mirror replaced. They were polite I just truly could not get an appointment made. read more

I gave these guys many tries because they're local and close and I support what they do, and their employees are generally pretty nice. However I ran into a few problems. Had a small oil leak on an 02 WRX, brought it in and was told my oil pump and timing cover were bad and would be charged $1400 to fix. Took it to Surgeline and determined it was a valve cover gasket leak and not a big enough one to need fixing. That could have been $1400 spent fixing the wrong thing. Next, took my Jeep XJ in with a whole host of problems and only some were fixed correctly. Had clutch problems and replaced the master cylinder and bled the system myself but that didn't fix it. They said it was the clutch itself and replaced it. They also did the slave cylinder while the trans was out. Keep in mind taking the trans out costs an arm and a leg. So, new clutch, new slave. Same problem. Took it in they replaced the slave again. Same problem. I went in and looked under with one of their service advisors and instantly noticed that the hydraulic pressure line was the wrong material. Did the new line and it was fixed. So, about $1100 on a new clutch I didn't need and a buncha extra time when I couldn't drive it. Also, the final time they put the trans back in they did not bold the exhaust back up tight so I had a massive exhaust leak which involved me going in there with two pairs of vise grips to fix it. They also broke the trim around my console and incorrectly re-installed the shift boot. Moving on, I had the oil pan and rear main done on the same vehicle. Not 6 months later, the oil pan gasket it leaking, which means if it gets worse I'm gonna have to go under there and redo it myself. Finally, we took a 2017 Golf Sportwagen in for a slow leak in the tire and they patched it... incorrectly. Tire has had a slow leak for awhile now. Had the VW dealer check it out at the most recent service interval and they noticed that Green Drop didn't drill the slit in the tire out and put a patch in, but instead just crammed a patch in the slit, where air could escape from either side. Also called for an estimate for an O2 sensor on an 01 CRV and they estimated a few hundred dollars (don't remember offhand). Decided to do it myself and had it done in a half hour. I really wanted to like these guys and I gave them many chances (and lots of money) to redeem themselves but I'm going to be taking my business elsewhere from now on. They'll focus on a clean office and Kombucha on tap, but not so much reasonably priced, timely, and effective work. If you have a basic commuter car you're okay with recycled oil in, then I'd definitely take it to them for that but for engine work, go elsewhere. Thank you. read more

* Incompetent or lying? * I had such a bad experience with Green Drop last year, that I was compelled to sign up on Yelp just to write this review. I took my van in to get the cruise control working again. They told me the switches on the steering wheel were faulty, and needed to be replaced. Total cost for that was about $380, which I later discovered included marking up the $155 part to $215 (a 40% markup). Seemed high to me, but I wanted the cruise control fixed so I told them to go ahead with it. Then, the next day, they told me that the cruise control still wasn't working, even with the new switches. They said the problem must be a faulty cruise control servo (that's the little electric motor that actually pulls on the throttle cable), and that it would cost $740 just for that part. Add in the labor and it would have been at least $900 MORE. This time I said no thanks, and went to pick up the van. Now, here's the kicker: I did some research online, and found out that much of the time the cruise control problem is a broken $20 part that's as easy to fix as changing a spark plug. A quick trip to the local auto store and 15 minutes later, the cruise control was working again! There was nothing wrong with the servo, despite Green Drop's claim. When confronted with the information about the quick easy fix, Green Drop claimed they had followed all the diagnostic procedures from the manufacturer. However, I looked up that diagnostic chart, and checking the part that I replaced comes well before replacing the cruise control servo! So, that leads me back to my initial question: Incompetent or lying? Either they missed this easy fix (which can be checked in seconds if you're following the diagnostic chart) or they intentionally skipped it in order to charge me a much more lucrative fee. This business seems to be well-rated and liked, and yes they have a clean lobby and you might get free beer or other perks. From my experience, however, I would never trust them again, and I would urge other drivers to verify whatever this garage tells them from a third party source. read more

My A4 was dying for an oil change and I really didn't want to take it to a random shop. I did some research online and Green Drop's website immediately stood out. The idea of an environmentally friendly, tech savvy shop that services European cars with a subscription plan caught me by surprise and peaked my interest right away. Booking online was easy, plus the email confirmation and reminder call were much appreciated. At my appointment, I actually struck up a conversation with the owner Farhad who was super friendly, helpful, and warm, as well as Ian who is a fellow Audi lover. Along with that, I received honest, excellent service by the technicians and decided to sign up for the monthly prime plan that covers oil changes, filters, and wipers. It seemed (and still seems) like a no brainer from a customer and business perspective. I like doing business with people that are smart, honest, and forward-thinking, so Green Drop is my new auto shop. read more
