This is the least friendliest bank I've banked with in 45 years! They should count out ever getting best of.

We contacted the manager at the Minden branch and she took care of the problem with one phone call.

First it was an issue getting into bill pay in Chrome. Customer service said they've been having problems with it, but their only solution was to use Safari. So I started using Safari and then the same issue came up. The issue Click on Bill Pay and this notice comes up: Cookies are blocked. We noticed your browser doesn't allow cookies. To access Bill Pay, you must change your browser settings. After you complete your changes, close your browser, reopen it, and sign in again. If only that were true. I made sure both Chrome and Safari are set up to allow cookies and pop ups. Then I closed the browsers, reopened the website and signed in. Still the notice came up and wouldn't let me into Bill Pay. I called Sierra Central a second time, when Safari had the cookie issue. The customer service person knew nothing about the issue. She had no idea that it was an issue that a lot of people have been having. At least the agent who I talked to first, about Chrome and the cookies, knew it had been an issue. So, not only has the issue not been solved, it's spread to Safari. So as a quick fix, I set up online pay on each of the websites I do business with (credit cards etc...) If this issue isn't solved soon, I'll need to change banks (or credit unions).

It's not like a small incremental difference in service, it's like a quantum leap. It has been so refreshing to walk in every day and get all my business done with the wonderful ladies at this "Y" branch. If there's ever a problem, for example an overdraft or a suspicious transaction or I leave my card in the ATM, I get a personal call from Sherry to discuss...no more hidden fees or unexpected gouging! It sounds corny, but they truly do make my banking a pleasure... p.s. and to top it all off, free cookies and lemonade on Friday!

The employees have always been a pleasure to deal with, and I never felt that this bank was trying to take advantage of me, or suck my money one "service charge" or "convenience fee" at a time. I absolutely detest banks that try to nickle and dime you, and these folks have never done that. On a few occasions over the years, I've had some moderate snafu's with my accounts. The customer service folks happily worked hard to straighten everything out for me. I really felt that the CSR wanted to get everything fully rectified. Instead of blaming me for the mistakes and then telling me why I was penalized (a common tactic with big banks and their CSR's) they instead got to the bottom of the problem and did their best to make it all go away. I like that. Thank you Eldo.

Most if not all of my Chase business is online, primarily for checking and a number of credit cards. I actually like their set up and I find my mornings between them and Quicken to be straightforward and efficient. But there is that rare occasion when I need to visit a Chase branch, and luckily there's one within a decent drive from Genoa (and on the way to the gym). In person banking hours are limited, but the ATM (located wayyy in the back of the property, which so far has been all I needed.

I was emailed by Amanda from their new location in Gardnerville and she asked if she could help with anything. I made an appointment with her for the following week. I was impressed from the moment I walked in. I was greeted by a representative and was immediately escorted to my Banker's office. The interior of the bank was clean, organized, modern, and sleek. It's really nice in there. I also like that with my debit card I am able to access the interior of the bank outside of bank hours and use the ATM that offers denominations other than just $20 bills. Amanda, our Banker, was super friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. She made the process seamless and was the cherry on top of what was initially a hard decision to leave Wells Fargo. Now, we're glad we did and we look forward to long relationship with Chase.

America First Credit Union - I DON'T recommend. Has NO Military Veterans Discount.

America First Credit Union

(4 reviews)

They were again so NOT candid with me and their disrespect to me as a customer was so palpable I…read morewas choking on it. America First Credit Union again mailed me soliciting my business. We again researched them, and thoroughly read their website. I again went to open a new savings account only. I again told the clerk that I did not want a credit card nor I did not want to open up a loan. According to Experian, one of the three credit bureaus, banks and credit unions DON'T check your credit score when opening only a savings account. They instead run a ChexSystems report. ChexSystems is a soft credit inquiry that legitimate financial institutions use to verify no fraud. A ChexSystems report aka soft credit inquiry has no direct impact on your credit score, while a hard credit inquiry has an adverse effect on your credit score. A hard credit inquiry is NOT what legitimate financial institutions do to only open up a savings account. Cybercriminals are constantly coming up with new ways to access databases loaded with sensitive information they can sell on the dark web and/or use for future attacks. 2014, some 20,000 debit cards from America First Credit Union were accessed in a security breach. 2020, America First Credit Union customers complained they recently had money withdrawn from their account without their knowledge or consent. Yahoo! Data Breach 2013 - 2016 involved a staggering 3 billion user accounts. 2019 started with a massive data breach when so-called Collection #1 database surfaced in mid-January. It contained colossal number of sensitive details - 773 million unique email addresses and more than 21 million passwords. First American Financial Corp exposed 885 million extremely sensitive records records in 2019. Equifax Data Breach of 2017 exposed 605 million extremely sensitive records of 147 million people. Facebook collects and stores enormous amounts of data and tends to spill a lot of it, quite frequently. Cambridge Analytica scandal of 2016, was the personal information of 87 million US voters. Of its data breaches of 2019, two were uncovered within a month of CEO Mark Zuckerberg's announcement of Facebook plans to "pivot to privacy" in March 2019. Facebook and Instagram passwords of millions of users, dating back to 2012, were left unencrypted on company servers and accessible to 20,000 Facebook employees. Another involved two third-party app developers, Cultura Colectiva and At the Pool, and 540 million records. Data breaches of customer private information are from employees or hackers. The result is identity theft and fraud. So, I've taken the advice of the three credit bureaus and several consumer groups, and have my credit at all three credit bureaus frozen. Security freezes generally only prevent hard inquiries in response to an application for credit and your credit reports cannot be accessed (with some exceptions) to open new credit unless you temporarily lift or permanently remove the credit freeze. A federal law that went into effect in September 2018 made placing, temporarily lifting, or permanently removing a security freeze free nationwide. Placing a security freeze on your credit reports does not impact your credit scores in any way. It also doesn't prevent you from getting free copies of your credit reports every 12 months from each of the three nationwide credit bureaus through www.annualcreditreport.com. While a security freeze can help protect you by preventing certain access to your credit reports if someone attempts to open a new credit account in your name, it can't help protect you against other forms of fraud, such as a stolen credit card number. It's still important to check your credit card and bank statements for suspicious activity. America First Credit Union then said it had to run my credit aka do a hard credit inquiry to open up only a savings account. A hard credit inquiry is part of the "new credit" category of the FICO scoring model and has an adverse effect on your credit score. Beware, for no where on their web site or their advertising invitation did it disclose they would do a hard credit inquiry to open a savings account only. I expressed my displeasure at First America Credit Union's failure to disclose upfront at their website and in their advertising their abnormal practice of doing a hard credit inquiry of a customer for a customer to open up only a savings account. This American correctly refused to allow a negative hit to my credit and to disclose my sensitive credit information to them just to open a savings only account. This American took my money elsewhere to a business who did only a ChexSystems report soft credit inquiry of me which did not negatively affect my credit score, and this other business has a Military Veterans Discount. First America Credit Union has NO Military Veterans Discount. Why should I support any business that doesn't support our GIs and me as a Veteran?
