And the best part, it doesn't matter if you visit in person (still haven't done that yet), order on line (oh so easy to do), or meet up with Loren and Karen at your local Sewing & Quilting Expo you will get the BEST HELP & CUSTOMER SERVICE there is. Before I walked into the venue, I had already found their booth on the map and I was not disappointed by help I received or the number of kits and fabric and patterns and such. Thanks guys, it was nice to meet Loren in person after watching him LIVE for so long. Karen it was wonderful to see you again, and thank you for helping me pick out a pattern.

I visited Nebraska Quilt Company today and was met with a familiar experience there from my past…read morevisits. Upon entering the store, I noticed that 3 people were working there, two ladies and one gentleman. One of the ladies said "hello" and I responded. After that I spent 40 minutes perusing the store shelves and enjoyed seeing the great selection of fabrics, thread, and patterns. So, why did I give the store 1 star? Because in that 40 minutes, after the initial greeting, not one salesperson looked at me or asked if I was looking for something in particular. In fact, the gentleman went out of his way to avert his eyes in the two encounters we had so he wouldn't have to talk to me. I won't say I won't ever go back there, but I will be seeking out the quilt shops I know that are happy to have a customer (I was the only one in the store today...go figure) and that have equally as beautiful fabrics. I'll be spending my dollars in Omaha, West Point, Wahoo, or Grand Island, maybe even Belleville, KS where I feel valued and appreciated for my patronage, unlike Nebraska Quilt Compnay.

I found Black Horse online, and made the drive to Valley during a recent trip to Omaha. Rug hooking has always intrigued me, so I decided to stop by and check it out. The owner is EXTREMELY helpful. Although I had NO CLUE what I was doing, she invited me to sit down and watch the rug hookers work on their projects for a while. She gave me a basic tutorial, and then set me up with a beginner's kit-- a stand to hold the project, a hook, and a pattern and wool to get me started. When I expressed concern about getting it onto the airplane, she shipped it to me. She also gave me a handout full of tips and tricks, and told me to give her a call the next time I'm coming through Omaha. She offered to meet me (even if it's on a day when they're closed) to review my project, provide feedback, and show me some finishing techniques. This store had a HUGE inventory of patterns and projects-- from small wall hangings to MEGA rugs for your floor. And the selection of wools and hooks was impressive. I would definitely go out of my way to stop in Omaha next time I'm driving across Nebraska-- this place is worth the trip!
