I felt very good about supporting this small family business. I was amazed at how many different types of cuisine Melrose International offers. We ended up having Mexican and Filipino food with gluten-free and vegetarian options. Rosalinda was even willing to make a garlic-free meal for one guest who can't eat garlic! The enchiladas and Mexican rice were my favorite dishes. Rosalinda and her employees worked very hard, including cooking on a grill outside in the hot sun at our reception venue. Her staff was efficient in serving food and even put the leftovers in containers we provided. One bit of advice: make sure to read over the detailed order list Rosalinda provides. I didn't read it closely enough, and there were some differences between what we had discussed and what was listed. I take responsibility for not paying closer attention. There were just too many things to do at the same time. Rosalinda offered to cut our wedding cake (made by someone else) for no additional charge, something no other caterer in the area seems to offer. (They often charge $2/slice!) We sat at a table in the bar area (that's our vibe), and we had the pleasure of being served by Orlando, a newer bartender. He was outstanding. He introduced us to a mezcal that complemented our meals perfectly and was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Top-notch customer service. Keep in mind that the prices are higher than downstairs, but so is the menu. We started with a White Linen cocktail, which was incredibly refreshing on a hot summer afternoon and the perfect way to kick off our visit. Instead, we opted for the Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts, and they were absolutely delicious. The dish featured thinly sliced Serrano chilis that added just the right amount of heat. But prior to that, while still clearly eating and drinking, waitstaff kept coming by trying to pickup our appetizer plates (they still had plenty of food left & our drinks were still full)..like I said rushing us out. It was definitely a poor experience. The appetizer of fried calamari was a miss, not crispy and clumps of calamari stuck together. The sweet potato fries were limp and not hot.
