The staff are fantastic, professional, down to earth, friendly, welcoming.. my son loves his teacher. The headteacher is warm and friendly, very chatty, always keen to chat to parents and get involved. I am very proud to say that my son attends this school.

The teachers are caring, whilst strict, and the quality of the work the children produce is always excellent. There are only 15 children in each year group which is great for the year R class, who stay at 15 for the whole of their first year. After that, 2 year groups merge, so you have year 1/2 year 3/4 and year 5/6.

The actual school is situated just behind a very attractive church, meaning it is off the main road and is very private. The school is divided into two main buildings - one for Key Stage 1 and the other for Key Stage 2. Classroom size is a little on the small side, especially for KS2's, however there doesn't seem to be a feel of overcrowding. The teachers are all wonderful. There is a clear sense of dedication and it feels that every teacher really cares for each student. Children come from all backgrounds, with many having English as their 2nd language. There is a number of extra support staff who regularly takes small groups off to another room for extra help which is a very positive point. The school also benefits from the Outreach Scheme, which is a government funded organisation which places students from the University of the West of England into schools to aid the teachers. After speaking to a number of staff at St Michaels, it is apparent that they are extremely grateful for the additional help that the Outreach Scheme provides. There are morning and after school clubs offered, and also an option for school dinners or packed lunches. All young children are given milk and fruit for snacks and regularly encouraged to run around outdoors. A word of warning though, if driving, the lane leading into the schools car park is very long and narrow meaning only one car can fit down it resulting in a lot of congestion in the mornings and after school.

A small but select school, designated as a Catholic primary…read more I went there (many mokns ago) and sent my own offspring there. It's not so much for the Catholic education as for the quality of care and education that I like this school. Originally (back in the late 60's) a fee-paying private catholic Boarding and Day School, it was run by the nuns of St Catherine's Convent (now long since dispersed and the grand old Convent Building turned into flats and offices). Nowadays the original 'extra' parts to the school - a few mobiles and a gym hall - have been refurbished and expanded almost beyond recognition. The entire school building is now large, spacious, well designed, modern and versatile. It still has it's own small playground area, and inside retains it's friendly and caring atmosphere.

Teachers seem friendly but only have limited contact as son is yr1 and just started. Good after-school activity clubs run by teachers and a general after-school club run on-site by the Scott centre. School is working towards their first Ofsted so fingers crossed its a good one. As with most, there are improvements (my son can either come home with no reading book or 2! Plus doesn't seem to have any official homework which in yr1 I'd expect some.even just 10mins a night or every other night?!) Overall, my son enjoys school and they seem well looked after.
