This was the worse moving experience ever. The movers were supposed to come between 2pm and 3pm but ended up showing up at 6.30pm. They kept misleading us all day and said they are running a little late then said they will come at 5pm and kept pushing the time back. Their excuse : the previous job lasted long than expected. By 4 hours!! Now that is just ridiculous. We lost our elevator reservations, energy and patience. Waiting for them was a torture. The guys who showed up were nice enough but you could tell they were exhausted. Dinged most of our furniture and left all our white furniture including the mattress with black hand prints all over. They ended up giving us a $20 discount but that minor amount in no way makes up for a 4hr delay. Worse part is they told us that we should understand and that they couldn't help it. I would give them a zero star if I could. Do not use them ! read more

I have now used GrassRoots TWICE and will hire again soon. I run a photo booth company and recently used Geoff and his team to help me move a vintage 900 lb photo booth to a business location from my shop in Denver. The move went flawless and I will use them again for this purpose. They have a great box truck with liftgate for large items like that. The move went so great that I had them move my wife and I into a new home a few weeks later. Geoff sent a team of four and we moved an entire 1600 sf house, along with 5 more 900 lb photo booths on their box truck and a 16 foot flatbed trailer. It took about 7 hours. GrassRoots' team is strong, fast and intelligent from the quote process through the end of the move. Highly recommended! read more

Just an update that I used Geoff and GrassRoots Moving again at the end of August to move from a house to apartment about 10 minutes away. The three men that Geoff sent were personable and hard-working. As my mom said, "Those guys are built!" They had the job done in a couple of hours and the price was great. I would advise that you closely monitor storage of the items in the truck. My desk received a few nicks, but since it's not high-quality furniture I wasn't concerned about it. read more

They were careful with our stuff and while they did take some breaks, they should be able to do that. We were charged $120 (cash only) per hour for their services with no mileage charges, even when we needed a 2nd load hauled for our local move. I definitely recommend GrassRoots Moving. read more

Joey and Tommy helped me move on Memorial Day. Who does that except a dedicated company? They only took two quick breaks; once packing and another unloading and were all about the hustle in-between. First the bottom line -- I would recommend these movers without reservation. They get the job done & do it right, way worth what you'll pay for it. I had never used movers in my life. And I have moved at least 25 times (no exaggeration). Every single time I've either done it myself, or cajoled 10 of my friends into helping me, by offering them free pizza & beer, as I've never had much money & it always seemed very expensive. I am an incurable lover of books and of old vintage furniture, neither of which makes for an easy move in the first place, but then you add a very old, extremely heavy piano onto that, and it's a recipe for all your friends cursing your name. After my last move, which was only a year ago, my friends made me vow to either: a) never move again, b) become a buddhist monk & give up all my possessions, or c) marry a mover. Alas, a) became a necessary vow to break, without b) or c) having come through in the meanwhile. Given my piano almost killed my friends the previous time, I agreed to definitely have my piano moved by a professional. Since I'd be paying to do that, I actually looked into hiring movers this time, thinking _maybe_ it wouldnt be that much more, but every quote I got was so expensive that it still seemed worth it to move myself. So that was my plan until just a few days before the move. Then Grassroots Moving came along. I had seen them on Craigslist advertising flat-rate piano moving, but then checked Yelp and saw they had all 5-star reviews, which in my research is extremely rare for movers -- the others ALL get mixed reviews. I asked them for a quote both for the piano only, and for the whole place. The quote on the piano was pretty high (it seemed to me). But the quote for the entire move was way more affordable than any other I'd received. And unlike some movers I'd spoken with, I actually had a very good feeling that Grassroots weren't blowing smoke -- that they were giving me an honest estimate, not a lowball to earn my business. The estimate was so attractive, that it ended up barely more than having someone just move my piano, and moving the rest myself, once you factor in buying pizza for all my friends, the cost of the U-Haul, gas, etc.. And that doesnt take into account all the sore muscles and torn tendons. So I decided to go for it. It was amazing. They moved my entire place in 3 hours flat, exactly their estimate. They did show up quite a bit later than scheduled, but given that it was Memorial Day weekend, which has to be one of the busiest moving weekends of the year, it was quite understandable (& mine was a VERY last minute schedule which they'd squeezed in between two other jobs). My only feedback there would be that it would have been nice to hear about the delay a little sooner, so I could have made better use of the time when I was just waiting to hear from them. But I ended up not even caring much about the delay, because they did such a great job. They were impressively efficient, respectful with my things, and just hustled like hell to get the job done. I once saw movers from another Denver company casually sitting around taking it easy on the job -- not these guys. They were go go go every minute. I could not be more happy w/ my decision to use Grassroots. I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to anyone. I think my days of cajoling all my friends into moving me are over! read more

The personality of these guys has been over the top. Courteous, on time, friendly, and we were able to joke with them throughout our move. So let's start from the beginning, shall we? Our scheduled move was for 9:30 am (this was as early as I was willing to wake up). Geoff (the head guy) called at about 8:53 and said that they should be there by 9:30am. Ok, gives me extra time to get dressed. No later than 9:08 am they call and say they are right out front. Well dang it, I wasn't expecting it. You don't get that from movers at all, it's a rarity. So onto the move, everyone was friendly upon initial meeting and they got to work. This move was from a 3rd floor with an elevator to a 3rd floor no elevator apartment to apartment move. Within an hour and some odd minutes they had the living room more than halfway done and by 11 they had the second bedroom done. Perfect, so far so well. By the time they took everything out and heading to the other apartment (Denver to Lakewood move), it was about two hours later. So right now we're looking at 3 hours, with a quoted time frame of 5 hours. Umm, cutting time close. We get to the new apartment and they immediately start unpacking the truck. Move went smoothly enough. We got everything done and they left. Well needless to say, not every move can go uncomplicated now can it? This was one of those. As my fiance and I were unpacking we noticed that he was missing one of his very nice drums, I ended up cutting myself on a broken drinking glass, and a small black bookcase got broken. Didn't notice the broken glass until after we called Geoff back and told him about the drum. Geoff was awesome about it and promised that he would take a look in the truck and talk to his guy that handled the drum. 24 hours went by and still no sign of the drum. I ended up emailing Geoff about it and he responded very promptly, even offered to help us look for it. Geoff then sent me an email stating they found the drum and offered to pay for the glass. What really surprised us is that after the move, the movers came up and owned up to the broken bookcase and we were told they had one in Geoff's garage that we could have. Fast forward to 2 days later. Geoff returned with A) the drum, B) money to replace the drinking glass, and C) another black bookcase, almost identical to the one we had. Umm, so why anyone would give these guys less than 5 stars is beyond me. One other thing that enthralled us by them? They offer discounts for repeat customers. Something that is practically unheard of with other movers. So yes we will be using them again. We gave them bagels (as I read other reviews that all they get were pizza) and they were more than happy for the change in food. Another information tip, they prefer cash but will take check. We gave them cash and I honestly can not say any cons about these guys. read more

Great service! The guys really knew what they were doing and they were very friendly. Some of our furniture got minor scratches and we should have been more helpful in directing where we wanted furniture placed, but for the most part they very courteous and asked us about where to move everything. We "lost" some light bulbs during the move and they were kind enough to bring them to us a few days later. We then realized that one of the 4 bulbs was not ours and looked like it had been replaced.. (These are $8 bulbs so not cheap to replace.) We would use them again. read more

GrassRoots helped me move a heavy (450 pounds!) piece of exercise equipment locally. Geoff responded to my inquiry quickly and politely. They picked up the elliptical at a warehouse 45 minutes away without the need for me to go down there and meet them. The crew was friendly and professional. They had to pick get the heavy equipment down a rather narrow flight of stairs. They figured out how to do it and I was amazed how efficiently they got it downstairs. I recently used grassroots to move from a townhouse to a house. Considering this was a challenging load with 3 flights of stairs and a long walk to the truck, the guys who showed up were very efficient and fast. They only took one 5 min break and were very careful with my furniture. I did have one piece of furniture that got scratched during the move but they were very fast to assist me with getting it taken care of. I gave advanced notice that I thought my couch and box spring would not fit in the elevator. These guys were willing to take on 11 floors. However, always trust the professionals to find a way! I'm the crazy person who still decides to move when it's snowing... And Geoff and his team did an amazing job! Geoff was in close contact with me early that morning since snow had starting accumulating and wasn't supposed to stop. After deciding to go forward with it, his guys got chains on the trucks and headed over. Even though the snow kept falling, you wouldn't have known it inside my house. They backed the truck up so that they could make a dry path between the house and the trucks, and they covered all of their walkways through the house with cloths. They also did a thorough walk through before they started because only certain rooms and items were going with us, and the guys got it all right and did it efficiently. Not to mention that they're all really friendly and smart about how they do things-you can tell they've been doing this for a while. They're a good group of guys. I wasn't able to use Geoff for the last move that I had to do because our schedules didn't line up, and I totally regretted it-the other movers scratched up my floors, broke items, and it took way too long. I called GrassRoots to unload a POD and I am very glad I did. They showed up on time ready to work. My POD was loaded in Boston by another company, let's just say, not very well. When the POD was opened there was stuff all over the place and boxes in the back had fallen forward and were threatening utter collapse. Geoff handled it all like a pro. I used GrassRoots recently and was thrilled. My last moving experience was horrible, so I was really cautious about who I chose for this move. I was VERY organized and completely ready when the guys arrived at 9:45. They started working around 9:50 and started charging me at 10 am. At a rate of $150/hr that makes a difference. With four guys, we were out of our old place and into the new in 4.5 hours (we were a big move too). Not one item was damaged and the guys were friendly, courteous, and professional the whole time. Saved my bacon! Same day piano move. Called at 2:30pm and piano was moved by 6:00pm! In the rain! Through bad Friday afternoon traffic! At the end of a long work week! These guys had just finished up a job and still had enough mojo to move a piano! And the dogs didn't bark at them! Very friendly very courteous careful with my stuff and strong as !@#$. Do it! This is the third time I've hired movers and I'll call these folks from now on. The best thing for sure, besides totally saving my butt, was no surprise charges for gas or packing tape or plastic wrap. Every other mover I've hired has done this. If you hire anyone else expect a 20% bump in price at the last minute. Even if it's just a big punk holding his hand out for a tip. These guys aren't doing this. I was researching for movers and I looked on the Next Door App if anyone had requested recommendations for movers. Grassroots Moving had excellent ratings and were highly recommended by people in my surrounding neighborhoods. So just as predicted...when I called to inquire it was very swift and prompt.i spoke with Geoff and he was very professional and helpful. I asked questions, got answers and set a date. They were all professional and courteous from the initial call to the moment they unloaded the last item off the truck. Even helping us put some items together( the ones we needed help with). They had to maneuver in some small areas and got a couch into the basement by taking parts off and trying different angles and my son was very happy. To backtrack a little as soon as the crew arrived they introduced themselves to us and were very respectful. The weather was at least 96 degrees outside and in the truck was even hotter and we had to use 3 trucks. Those guys were troopers and I tried to make sure they were drinking plenty of water. This is a local small business and they were a great team. There were no hidden costs and the rate and the work were completed as agreed. Moving day always sounds like a bad day but these guys made it go faster and kept the mood happy. I wish I had thought to take pictures because these guys took great care of our furniture and belongings. Thank you Grassroots Moving!
