The trouble with W H Smith at the moment is it doesn't know what it is. Is it a book shop, a…read morenewsagents, a sweet shop? So they try to cram everything in that they think someone might need. This means you have to walk an assault course to get to the back of the store. This branch in Uxbridge has actually got a lot of floor space but you couldn't tell on first glance due to the massive displays and no space in between. I would hate to have to push a buggy around, your poor baby would have Cards and magazines crashing on it's head. The one thing I do like about this shop is the self service tills. You don't have a depressed member of staff trying to sell you half price chocolate. As you scan your own stuff. Much better when you nip in for a birthday card. This does have a great selection if birthday cards. But every time I leave I'm thankful I made it out alive!

Just get your stock in and always make sure you don't run out of cigarettes and miniature bottles of whiskey. Easy. But simple things go wrong all the time right? England penalties, scrambled eggs, trousers...So, here's a pat on the back to a newsagent doing it really well. They don't run out of newspapers, the drinks selection is just right, it's warm in the winter and they sell a few decent cards for when you forget someone's birthday.

He used to put a cheeky smile on my face before the journey and no amount of fanciness, ice cream or sweeties can make up for that. Especially considering the misery guts who has taken his place. Look over to the other side of this well set up shop and you'll find everything you'd expect, from a small amount of groceries, to a sugar fiends paradise. Now for the brownie points: Can I top up my oyster card? .....Yes Can I play lottery? ......Yes Can I transfer money to my fictional friend in Guinea? ...Yes Can I even get my digital photos developed in 30mins ... Hell yes Do you have old customers who fart on the way to the counter and move so slowly and are so bulky you have to spend a full minute in their back draft as you make your way behind them to pay ... You can buy newspapers, tobacco, cards and paper, everyday items like sugar. The best bit is sweets in a jar which the old Cheneys used to sell in 1/4s which was great for children.
