    Sōsh - Inside the office

Great fun was had on January 24th at Shattered Soshial presented by Milwaukee Ballet and Sōsh. Another sponsor and the geographic host was the Wells Building. The Wells Building is the 110-year old refreshed office tower that sits at the northwest corner of Milwaukee Street and Wisconsin Avenue. Sōsh occupies the enviable 2nd floor of this building with large windows facing the adjacent streets. I particularly like the view directly east where a perfect row of historical Milwaukee buildings remains untouched by the destructionists of the 1960s and 70s. TVs at Sōsh were displaying videos produced by Visit Milwaukee and Dear MKE. For Milwaukee enthusiasts and history nerds like my wife and myself, it was hard to disengage from the videos until we had watched one complete loop (while enjoying a Milwaukee Brewing Co. Pull Chain Ale or two, I might add). Maybe we didn't make it though completely, but we enjoyed the cool videography even without the sound on! It's a good thing we were able to pull away from the video as there was a lot more fun to be had. As the Friday night rolled on, attendees loosened up and ultimately made their way towards the noisier part of the party: the dance floor! This wound up being my favorite part of the night. Not because we danced, we didn't, but because we got the opportunity to watch members of the Milwaukee Ballet show off their smooth moves. It figures, right? If they're good enough for the ballet, they ought to be great at the tango and whatever else the DJ throws at them. They were. We enjoyed a front row seat for some of the best dancing I've seen since the Sharks faced off against the Jets. Maybe that was the intent after all: to get the guests to consider attending the Milwaukee Ballet. It worked. This morning I'm looking up the next performances of the Milwaukee Ballet. I've done a lot of things in Milwaukee, but somehow I've never seen a performance by the Milwaukee Ballet (there may have been a Nutcracker in there a few decades ago, but since I can't recall a thing about it, I'll say never). Thanks Milwaukee Ballet and Sōsh for a fun evening. If you ever have another one, please remember to invite us! :)
