I have park envy right about now. Grant Park is bigger, better, and and thousand times more awesome than your average park. It's not just a giant green space along Chicago's lake front. It's got squares, gardens, statues, PLENTY OF RESTROOMS, tons of benches, wide walkways, festivals, Buckingham Fountain, gorgeous skyline views, and it's right off the L-Train. My only disappointment is having to leave the place to board a plane and come back home. Would it have been weird of me to handcuff myself to the fountain? It's truly a gem in the city. Chicago, you're lucky to have this one. Very few parks that I've seen in my life time can rival this one, and I'm jealous that it's yours. read more

This place is good for a few pictures (Buckingham Fountain) and lakefront view. Depending on the time of the year the park is used to house various events with tents. For example the marathon, blues fest, or school meets. Since the place does not provide optimum shade it is best to bring your own umbrella and apply sunblock to be safe during the sunny days. read more

This place is amazing! They had a free orchestra concert at night and the art and structures in the park is amazing! Chicago has buildings, green trees, pink flowers and yellow taxis all around this park. Love it! Great place to take your kids and walk around. We went to the bean, concert hall, fountain, bridge, Taste of Chicago and near Lake Michigan for the view. Would def come back! I love the bean. read more

If you can handle crowds....and mean really handle crowds then this is your place for the 4th of July holiday.....and New's Year Eve celebration destination....wohoooo!!!. More than a million people crowd the shores of Lake Michigan during these times and Grant Park is the Epicenter. Grant Park is a beautiful public park with the city's skyline in the background. It's great for walking, biking, running, or just enjoying views of Lake Michigan. It plays host to many festivals, concerts, and other events throughout the year. Surrounded by the Art Institute Of Chicago, Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, and Soldier Field, there's no lack of activities to be found around Grant Park. Beautiful park - great place to get some pictures and take a stroll. Didn't get to spend a lot of time here on my visit, but can definitely recommend it's a nice place to go. It was clean (at least the area I was in), and there were lots of things to see. Got some neat pictures of statues and a fountain. read more

I mean, what can I say? I've been here so many times for many different reasons and it's still an awesome landmark. More recently I was in Grant Park for the Blackhawks rally and Lollapalooza. The view at night in the summer is amazing with all the lights at Buckingham Fountain. I would say sunset and evening provide the best silhouette/view of the city skyline. When no events are going on, you can see people playing ball in the fields to the south, there are smaller paths north and south from the fountain and for being in a big city, tons of trees. Grant Park is the home to every major event in the city. From the Taste of Chicago to Lollapalooza and almost every major running race in the city. Grant Park is the park of the city and holds a lot of history. The additions from Millennium Park only adds to the number of people that visit this area and are able to take in the great views of the Chicago skyline. From ice skating in the winter to checking out the Buckingham fountain in the summer, you can't go wrong with a visit to Grant Park. If you are not a Chicago native this is definitely the place you can start your visit. A vast area with the Art Institute on the south end and the Cloud Gate aka the Bean on the north. I haven't had a chance to come down for a championship rally but I will make it a point to attend the next chance we get. read more

BIG PARK. We came on the windiest day! 38MPH. We walked around the entire park looking for the Buckingham Fountain & the Agora Sculptures. Both were very cool, but it was way too windy to enjoy it. I'd totally come back here during the spring to enjoy a bike ride or so. read more

I love this city and its gorgeous parks. Spending time in Grant Park over the summer was lovely. The beautiful flowers and the fountain...not to mention all the music that goes down there. Had a blast at the blues fest and Lollapalooza. Loved the movies in the parks!! And um November, 4 2008...need I say more?! Even if its just a day in the park, chilling in the grass and having a picnic or going for a bike ride..its hard to beat Grant Park. ahhhhh I can't wait for summer!!! It is the most beautiful area in summer. I try to notice all the statues so powerful and welcoming. My favorite the copper angel with wings and arms outspread. It reminds me no matter what there is beauty to be found in many things. The Lakefront, the fountain, the rows of carefully planted flowers, green trees, leaves blowing in the fall, the boats in the harbors.... It is sad to see it ruined by park events. Someone told me that people who come to America cannot believe the disrespect shown for the very "earth". Trash, debris people throw on the ground and out of cars. I visited Chicago last summer, and although there are lots of astonishing places in this city, I believe that the most beautiful one is the Grant Park. It is the ideal place if you want to escape from all the hurly-burly in the city, and unwind admiring the impressive views, and strolling on Lake Michigan's shore. Also, the park is divided into several separate sections that include the Millennium Park, the Museum campus, numerous stunning gardens, the Buckingham Fountain, the Art Institute of Chicago, and so on. My favorite section is the Buckingham Fountain, and I believe that it is a splendid area, and I go there every time, I have the occasion. However, all the other parts are just as beautiful. I also like coming here in the afternoon, to enjoy a delicious dinner, and refreshing drinks at one of the numerous eating places found in the proximity of the part, and then I usually explore the area, or embark on a trip to the lake. These are my favorite activities, and I believe that Grand Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the world. It definitely must be on your itinerary when you visit Chicago. read more

What can I say, Chicago has some amazing parks! But how can you compare to a park that houses things like Lollipalooza and, oh I dunno, Obama's Presidential Election Night Rally! SOOOOO many people, but Grant park accomodated nicely, and even had a bowl kind of shape to give a very slight "amphitheater" setup......although I use that term loosely. Plenty of room! Although the setup for the rally wasnt that cool.....i.e. why was the stage setup so only the media tents and about 5% of the rally-goers could see the actual stage. Despite this, I'll let it keep five stars for being so historic! read more

It is quite a mad house for the Taste of Chicago, but totally worth it for the great food. If you have to drive though, traffic sucks for special events. I can't wait to check out the many great festivals that will be hosted here this year, including Lollapalooza. As many have alluded to already, Buckingham Fountain is great, as are the skyline and harbor views. read more
