One of the nicer hotels in the area. Missionary style architecture. There is an all-inclusive option. Service is good. Most people don't speak English well. But enough to get what you need. There is no WiFi in most of the rooms unless your room is near the lobby and 5+ floors up. The buffet is ok. But the actual restaurants are great. i worked with the banquet manager, Armando to get an catering order out of the hotel. And everything was well planned out and yummy. He speaks English, so it made it easier to plan a customized menu with the chef. I would stay here again if I was in the area. There is no place around here even in the hotel to exchange dollars to Pesos. So you must exchange money beforehand if you plan on taking the boat to go to the town across the way. Lots of cute artisan items there and the farmers market.

The hotel is beautiful! We drove in and got a bit confused driving through the Isla Navidad security gate. It confused us because on the outside it says "Grand Bay Hotel". The bell hops were very welcoming and offered us tips on the hotel grounds, restaurants in Barra de Navidad, and nearby beaches. After our welcome drinks, we headed to our room. The room was impeccably clean with fantastic views of the marina. The room had a coffee maker, water, mini fridge, TV, sitting area, couch, balcony, and a very comfortable bed. The spacious bathroom had a tub and shower, hair dryer, toilet and bidet. The rate included a buffet breakfast that had everything you can think of, including a smoothie bar. Our server remembered us from the previous morning (we stayed 2 nights) and knew which one of us wanted coffee served. He was very attentive and made his rounds to make sure we were still doing ok. There is a 24 hour ferry that takes you Barra and Colimilla and costs $30MN roundtrip. You pay on arrival. The restaurants in Colimilla close earlier than those in Barra. The offer jet ski rentals, canoes, and other water activities and tours, but we did not partake. They also have tennis courts, but I am not sure if they have rackets and balls to rent. Their beach area is very nice and we sat there one evening to enjoy the sunset. The only disappointment was the two girls at the reception desk who were completely useless. I can't remember their names, but one of them wore glasses. I asked them to please help with the Bancomer ATM machine (behind the bell desk and in front of the reception) because it wasn't giving me cash. She asked the bell hop to help out and he said he had no idea how that works. Why ask the bell hop? We finally figured out on our own that you have to request smaller quantities in order for the ATM to work. The following day, we wanted to go to the pool but the towel person had left. I went to reception, which was a closer walk than going to the room, again the two useless girls. The one in the glasses told me to get it at the pool and I told her that the towel person was already gone. Long story short, I went to my room to get the towels. Aside from that, a wonderful stay.

I am definitely returning after my experience here! I wrapped up my two month family and vacation tour through Mexico at this hotel. It was a dream of mine to stay here and I finally made it a reality. In my excitement, I forgot my handheld luggage and blanket in the back of the taxi. I did not realize it until I arrived to my room. That is when Paco, the bellboy hero, jumped into action. He radioed to the check-in stations to see if we could catch the taxi there, but it was too late. I was devastated and as I ran inventory in my head of what I lost, it got worse. Paco told me that he would see what he could do. But what can he do? I did remember the taxi driver's full name from the check stations, but other than finding him on Facebook it was not much help. I decided to walk the grounds and do my best to enjoy my stay and not be hard on myself for being so forgetful. I was impressed by the kindness of the staff and their willingness to help as I familiarized myself with the resort. Circled back to to the front desk and asked the manager the dining times . I was mentioning to him that Paco was trying to help me recuperate my luggage when he pointed behind me and said, "There he is.". He did it! He got my luggage back! Apparently, he got on the company vehicle and wasted no time to catch up to him. The taxi was driving to the airport away from the hotel. He told Paco that he realized what happened, but was unsure of what to do. Hmmm...Ok. Paco's quick thinking saved my belongings, state of mind, and hope for humanity. PS. The food in Antonio's is superb; the views, amazing: the staff, top-notch; the beds and pillows, super comfortable. Sure there is some wear&tear, but not enough to affect the rating in my experience. Over-all the experience is everything you would expect from a 5-star rating.
Nice place in a nice location. Buffet food was pretty good. Our pool server was very good and did everything he could to help us. Massive wedding took over the place all weekend but it didn't take away from the experience. read more

Low-key ghetto. The place is undeniably beautiful, but once you're actually there, you start noticing how janky it is. Several things in the room were broken. The floor flooded every time I showered. The shower handle sprayed water everywhere because the nut wasn't properly secured. Metal fixtures were rusted. The bathroom constantly smelled like urine because there are sewer drains in it. The elevator doors don't have sensors, so they slam shut on you. The on-site store looks like a food pantry. Room service is genuinely worse than airplane food. I ordered multiple items throughout the week to give it a fair shot, and some of it made frozen Costco pizza seem gourmet. On the last night, room service left a tray of dirty dishes and unfinished food outside my door overnight. A lemur was eating out of it. They also left an extra ironing board in the middle of my room. Laundry instructions were unclear: it said anything picked up before 11 a.m. would be returned by 6 p.m., but they didn't pick mine up until 3 p.m., even though I made it available at 9 a.m. Now I have to figure out how to get my laundry before checkout tomorrow. Also worth noting: getting here is not easy. This is definitely not Manzanillo. It's not near Manzanillo and not easily accessible unless you have a car--which, thankfully, I did. And honestly, the town of Manzanillo itself isn't very charming. Save your money and go to Puerto Vallarta or Cancún. read more

This place was pretty cool and for the price was a shocker, like your own private island in a way. The drive there is fun as you pass by tons of mango trees on the property ( your allowed to pick some). This place reminded me of the GTA heist mission . You could spend a whole day or two here just exploring the building and their several pools. As well as the nearby town. The room was pretty nice, though things are starting to age like the lights. We got our own balcony where we could look at the water. Free complementary breakfast. Wifi is free but slow. So you might be dropped from time to time. Overall will definitely come here again. read more

Once again the Grand Isla has surpassed my expectations but then again, I expected nothing less! The staff upon arriving smiles and all wearing protective face coverings. The dinner was of the highest quality. Once the well educated staff was attentive. I started with the Tequila seafood broth followed by a Caesar salad finally finishing with the Pasta Bolognese Let's not forget the marina office with the ever present Secundino the Harbor Master and Isabel was very knowledgeable and quite pleasant. The pool service was wonderful. Everybody here is of the highest standards as they seem it enjoy their jobs. I'm curious where they get their service training. The British Butler institute in London? It seems to be. Thanks again read more

We recently started at the Grand Isla and thought the hotel and grounds were unkike anything we have ever seen. we only had two nights and dined each evening at the hotel's Antonio's restaurant. I am not kidding. This is one of the best restaurants I have eaten in. Ernesto was our waiter. He was great. His service was top notch while being down to earth and extremely professional. If I were to rate the restaurant separate from the hotel, it would have gotten a 5 for sure. For, service., ambience all excellent. Ernesto amazing. read more

The hotel grounds and common areas are beautiful and very well manicured. The service is amazing - hotel and restaurants alike. They have a lot of amenities - yoga on the beach, water aerobics, tennis courts, work-out facilities, water sports, etc. And the water taxi to the town of Barra is very convenient and a fun experience. The only downside is that the rooms are very dated - mold on the walls, sinks that are in desperate need of repair, bidets that don't work, and rotted wood on the doors. We could overlook these flaws because the positives definitely outweighed the negatives. read more

Great property. Excellent service. The entire staff is there to make your stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. We stayed in February 2018 and we couldn't recommend this hotel more if we tried. The general manager Julio Cesar Ortega is one of the best at his profession. He made sure my wife and i had the best room and the best amenities. The hotel has everything so there's really no need to go anywhere else. Loved it so much that I'm bringing my entire family in a few weeks. Can't wait to see him and his staff again. read more
