I took the bus from the airport and was relieved to find out; Hey this bus dropped me off at a major train station (Station Bijlmer ArenA). Little did I know that station was my one-way train ticket to downtown. Not far from the station is the Holiday Inn Express - Arena Towers. I had to walk about a quarter mile from the station to the Holiday Inn Express. Along the way, I was surprised to even notice the Amsterdam ArenA. Hence the reason for distinguishing "Arena Towers" in their name. Plus the hotel is made up of both a regular Holiday Inn, and an Express type. I checked-in with Romy who was super welcoming! She verified my IHG membership, and made sure I was taken care of. And apparently the only room available for me was on the top level (the 17th). Sweet! Not only did she hook up a nice room, she helped me with planning my trip to Centraal Station. She explained the layout of their hotel, and the complimentary breakfast from 6:30am to 10:30am. I even got hooked up with a plug converter, only requiring a small deposit. The room ran me $348.35 or €308.23 for one night. Yes, pricey but every hotel downtown was booked since it was a bank holiday Monday. The room in general was average looking; Clean in my opinion though. Loved the blue light in the bathroom, as well as the standup shower with detachable showerhead. In the open, next to the bed was a set of hangers, a monitor for cable, and a bed. WiFi worked without a hitch. The bed was slightly firm and the beddings were nice and white. The view of the land, excellent! So overall, I enjoyed my short stay here and wouldn't mind staying again. The hotel was simply convenient being next to the station, the arena, and various food joints. The staff was on-point with everything, and I finally got some much needed rest. It's the reason we stay right, for sleep and rest? It's rare for me to give five stars to a corporate company, but service overshadowed the average stay. I'd never thought I'd say this, but "Thank you" Holiday Inn Express for the warm hospitality.

Clean, well set up rooms. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff…read more It's proximity to Amsterdam's Metro (M54) made getting into A'dam very easy.

So far it is serving as an unfortunate conclusion to an already exhausting and frustrating travel ordeal. While check-in wasn't terrible, we were assigned a trainee who was clearly unprepared and unsupported by staff who didn't seem to care where we were placed. It felt like being shuffled off to an "out of sight, out of mind" building, as though our airline vouchers had relegated us to afterthought status. Things have only gone down from there. Despite being required to make a reservation for dinner, no one answered the phone to take reservations. After countless failed attempts, we gave up and stood in yet another line, a recurring theme. We were stranded without our luggage, so we asked for basic necessities like toothpaste and deodorant. To our disbelief, the staff informed us they had none to provide and had the audacity to claim that KLM hadn't sent them any supplies to distribute. To make matters worse, there was no deodorant available to purchase in their shop, and we were forced to buy toothpaste out of pocket. No support, no solutions--just excuse after excuse and blatant disregard for guests who were already stressed and stranded. The attention to detail is appalling. At least one window will crack bc we can't turn the heat down enough - as the thermostat is locked - bc the other window/door is broken. it won't open and is currently taped shut. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if we leave with bedbugs given the clear lack of care. This was a disgraceful way to treat guests, and the experience left an already terrible day ending on an even worse note. To KLM: Sending passengers to a hotel that lacks the resources, organization, or compassion to provide basic customer service is unacceptable. To Corendon: Four-star???? really???? What a disappointment - ESPECIALLY under Marriott's name. The service we have received is nowhere near a standard I THOUGHT Marriott prides themselves on having. Ignoring guests, providing no assistance, and failing to stock basics for stranded travelers is completely unacceptable. This experience was a failure. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

KLM booked a room here as part of an accommodation including dinner and free shuttle from airport. I paid for a taxi given the wait for the free shuttle -35 Euros for a 10 minute ride and worth it. The space is massive and is divided into two sections for rooms. Higher room numbers closer to reception and lower closer to the dining room. If your card won't work on the elevator you're not in the right section. Part of my accommodation was dinner at the Hotel's "World Buffet." I'm not a big fan of buffets so I asked at reception about it -I was assured this was one of the best buffets given his experience at multiple hotels. There was food from around the world as stated-Local, Asian, Indian, salad bar, dessert with cake and ice cream and espresso machines. I will say it was very good by Buffet standards (that said, given the full day of travel issues, most anything would've tasted good) & although I didn't pay, price is close to 40 Euros. They have a nice Bar with a Pool table and plenty of TVs for sports viewing, My room was a single with two comfortable twin beds and was just the right size. Mini fridge, safe, iron and free bottle of water were also included. The big and pleasant surprise was the indoor pool, Gym and spa amenities. Gym is open 24/7 and has all you need for a great workout. Not only did they have a dry sauna and steam room, they also had a Sanarium. (not as hot as a dry Sauna)-just what the Dr. ordered after a long travel day! Service was friendly and upbeat despite the very busy day given the travel issues. I could see planes taking off from my room but couldn't hear them & not too much close by. A good one for an overnight and if you need to be close to Schipol.

We could also see that it is in the flight path of the airport but we barely noticed any planes from our room. Unfortunately they get 1 star for other reasons... It is a $10-15Eur Uber ride into Amsterdam (approx. 20 minutes), which adds up. Next time we will stay closer to the center. When we arrived, we were greeted at the front desk with a smile but the person didn't ask or say anything. It was very awkward. They did speak English since after I said we were checking in they asked for last name. The next problem was the bathroom. Whether the bathroom was an add-on afterthought or not, it appears their contractor did not put in insulation into the walls. We were here in December and the bathroom, no matter what temperature the main room is, felt like an icebox. It literally felt as if we were walking outside in order to use the toilet. FREEZING! Our biggest problem... On our third day here we decided to sleep in. We had the Do Not Disturb sigh on our door the whole time since we checked in. Housekeeping is very loud in the hallways. When they clean a room they let the door fall and it bangs against the hinges, multiple times, over and over again. Housekeeping also knocked on our door and tried to enter (the door alarm went off) even though our Do Not disturb sign was on the door. It was very unsettling because what if they had done this the past two days when we were gone just to snoop around? Now we have to take an accounting of our belongings... Lastly, a group from Germany was checking in at 8am and the guy at the front desk was very rude to them and told them to move aside for us. He kept telling them to move away from the front desk even though there was plenty of room for me to stand. I told him I didn't need that much room. He also made snide comments to me about them saying "can you believe this group is trying to check in at 6am?" Clearly he was exaggeratedly irritated at them. I said "it's OK, if I came in on an early flight I would want to check in too..." Obviously he doesn't travel much!! When he asked us how our stay was, I replied half jokingly that the bathroom was cold. He brushed it off like its normal for this time of year. Sorry but where I come from our bathrooms are the same temperature as the rest of the house.
