The chorizo taco has good flavor. I was bummed that the big burrito tasted sweet since I was not expecting it. I think maybe the sweetness came from queso or maybe a sauce but I'm not sure. My daughter said the chicken enchiladas tasted different today compared to our last visit. Some inconsistencies. I was reminded that their salsa and white chip dip is sweet too. I'm more into savory food. I am impressed that they still give free chips, salsa and dip with carryout order. Staff was nice. read more

Quick service, friendly staff, food is consistent. While their prices have risen, similar to every other business, it is still a location we frequent. Their servers are always helpful, even the "grumpy,".servers. You rarely wait more than 15 minutes for your food. Unhappy with your food after the first couple bites, tell them. Grand Azteca is definitely the best Mexican restaurant in the area! We used to frequent the Sterling Heights location and have nothing but good things to say. We recently moved but were thrilled one of their other locations was nearby. Grand Azteca III is actually the first location we've dined in at. We're typically to-go people but figured it was time for us to dine in! Wait staff was friendly and the place was clean. There is a bar and various tvs if that's your thing. The menu at Grand Azteca is endless! I can assure you that you'll find something for anyone. What I also like is that they have combination plates and you can also order a-la cart. Sometimes combos don't have exactly what you want, but having affordable options ala cart is a plus! Our typical order here is ordering 3 enchiladas ala cart and 3 chicken taquitos with a side of rice. This is easily enough for a meal or two for us. The best part? All this food is under $20! The taquitos are AMAZING. So crispy! The enchiladas are always so tasty. You cannot go wrong. If we're feeling extra frisky we order the nachos and churros to splurge on. This used to be our go to Mexican restaurant as it was the most authentic we could find. Their portions were generous and the service was usually good. Since Covid they have really gone down hill. Their prices went through the roof and the food is sub par. I always used to the get the carne asada tacos which were good but already a little pricey. But at least you got your moneys worth with the portion. Now, there is about a teaspoon of meat for each taco , no more pico di gallo, the beans and rice were cold and they charged over $15! I have driven by this place many times and finally decided to give it a try. We enjoyed our food however I took away a star because while we were enjoying the chips and salsa, halfway through the chips there was a long piece of black hair. The waitress replaced our chips but as you can imagine that had us on high alert. Our entrees were great and we did not have any more issues. I will return. This place has always been an old standby for us. We noticed the sign saying they were open for carry out during COVID lockdowns and gave it a shot. Called and placed our order. No payment taken over the phone. I asked if I just come in to pick it up (each place has been handling procedures differently), she said yes. So I had to go in to pay and pickup, not a deal breaker but I know some people might not be comfortable with that right now. Food was packaged really nicely. All the cold stuff was separate from the hot, and the food was in foil pans with lids, not those awful foam clamshell containers. All of the food was hot when I got home (about 10-15min) and was exactly what we ordered. There was even a bag of chips with some cups of salsa! This like a step up from taco bell. It is not the best Mexican, but it is always hot and for the price, you really can't beat it! read more

I was very happy with our first ever visit to Grand Azteca. The meal started with amazing chips and salsa (which is always a great sign). Our waiter was great and made wonderful recommendations. Everything we had was really good. We ordered Texas Fajitas, molecajete (waiter recommended) and plain steak tacos (for my son). We will definitely be back to this place. I went back to give it another try and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the #25 combo which is a burrito and enchilada. It was very good. My Mom had the taco salad and she said it was good but could have used more lettuce. The girlfriend had fajitas with beef and bird and she really enjoyed it. And if you are hungry, the fajitas are almost enough for two people. And sorry for the half eaten dish, I remembered to take a photo half way though eating. read more

In reading the reviews, seems I had a pretty similar experience to many. As I ate it I kept feeling like this was at best only a modest step up from Taco Bell. The Super Nachos tasted really quite similar to the Taco Bell I remember from eating there as a kid, so there was some nostalgia, though the rest was really not great. Beans pretty flavorless, burrito not memorable. This worked for me to satisfy a Mexican food craving, but it definitely isn't a spot I would go back to. We were on this side of town on taco Tuesday and decided to partake in this local chain. The chips and salsa were accompanied with a cup of spicy ranch dressing for dipping. Strange ... I'm pretty sure it is not authentic. The server was very friendly, but we rarely saw him. Our meal took almost an hour to arrive. Then it was cold. My husband and I get Azteca once or twice a month. We've tried the steak tacos, pork tacos, regular hard shell beef tacos, steak tampiquena, but we both always go back to the chorizo quesadillas.
