I found that she has an extremely level-headed, intellectual approach to pretty much everything she does; but her "bedside" manner is not for everyone. As with any brilliant intellectual, sometimes she communicates in a way that is different from your mainstream, aggressive attorney; but the payoff is well worth it. We have always been more than satisfied with her ability to solve even our most difficult legal issues, including a very nasty, heated divorce. Not only does she have the experience necessary to tackle anything relating to her specialties, but her brilliance surpasses most other lawyers I have hired -- regardless of price or years in practice. Among her other credentials, she holds a PhD in tax law. I refer her to everyone I know who needs an attorney. She is caring and steadfast in her service.

The circuit court of Virginia determined that my lawyer, Kevin Jaros' billing was unreasonable…read more My lemon law case was settled out of court in my favor, but the defendants refused to pay my legal bills, claiming they included unnecessary and excessive activities, block billing and administrative tasks charged at senior lawyer rates. The case for the legal fees went to a Circuit Court of Virginia hearing My lawyer decided not to attend and instead sent a junior partner, Bret Giaimo, whose hands were visibly shaking and voice kept breaking up with nerves. Judge Stoney was clearly not satisfied with the Giaimo's explanation for Jaros' billing practices and awarded me only 70% of my costs as reasonable, leaving me over $11,000 out of pocket. When I asked Jaros to amend his billing to better reflect what the judge determined as reasonable, he refused. Even when I asked him to split the difference he flatly refused. To add insult to inquiry, after the court hearing Jaros sent me a long email telling me that I should look at this as a victory because the defendants were not happy with the amount they had to pay out . He then billed me a further $113 for the 'pleasure' of his email. Overall, I was billed more than $40,000 and was awarded $29,000 by the court as reasonable fees. I reached out to their CEO, Paul Abraham, but he didn't bother to reply. USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR PERIL!!! *Sort reviews by lowest and you'll get the true picture

Agreeing to get divorced was tough, but from our first meeting, Jonathan made it clear how the process works, what I should expect to hear, what it would cost, and all the lawyerly business involved. But he also let me know that it was OK to feel, whether that was bad, sad, or mad, it was OK to feel something. Throughout the process, he gave me excellent counsel, both professionally and personally, which lowered my stress overall. It was clear that he was paying attention during the collaborative meetings, jumping in several times to keep her attorney from walking all over me, and protecting my interests from my own desire to simply get it over with. He helped me with a referral to an estate planning attorney who worked out well too. I am grateful for his help and caring manner. I hope that I never need a divorce attorney again, or that any friends need to ask who I used, but if they do, I can whole-heartedly recommended Jonathan Kales.

I don't think divorce is ever easy, but Rick and Ellice certainly saved us from what was looking like a complete nightmare. We were on a hamster wheel of disagreements and back and forth, each one with the hefty price tag of our lawyers. I was skeptical that anyone could help us get to a point where we could agree on anything. Rick and Ellice were both such a blessing. They worked well as a team to keep us on topic, remain objective, help unscramble the emotions and get to the bottom of what needed to be sorted out. They worked really well as a team and made me feel like I was being heard- finally! They also had a lot of knowledge in regards to the law, and what was actually fair. In the end, we were able to avoid both of the trials that were set, and comet our own, non-traditional agreement that we felt worked best for us, and kept the best interest of our children at heart. We had a total of 4 sessions with them, it was a fraction of the cost of legal fees, and when we finally signed our agreement, it was like a weight of 1000lbs was lifted from both of us. I am very thankful for the experience.

I post this as a person deeply concerned about how this office serves divorce notices. The paperwork from my divorce separation agreement/address/phone number were taped to my door, not in an envelope, for my entire apartment building to see. I say this also on behalf of my soon to be ex-husband because sensitive information about him was in the document as well. When I went to alert the firm that this had happened and that they should put such notices in an envelope, the receptionist or paralegal was incredibly rude, and said "let me cut you off there and ask you to put your concerns in an email to....." This is vile, unprofessional, and unethical. If you want your information left on someone's door for neighbors to be able to see, go with this firm. I would rather hire someone with some discretion and decorum that would be expected of an attorney's office.

I ended up wasting six months and about $4K, paid in fees, with no outcome with Geller Law. I was first requested to have a mandatory paid initial consultation session to go over my legal help needed. I was introduced to Julie S. during this session. After describing my specific case & needs, she informed me that Geller Law can handle my case. What followed was months of emotional stress & redundant conversations with the staff of this firm that yielded no results. It became clear to me that they didn't know how to legally handle my case. Some staff members were argumentative & appeared trying to take advantage of this emotional situation for me. There were redundant conversations that I was later billed for. I concluded that this firm is not the choice that can handle my case professionally. I terminated my work with them. The new law firm I selected to handle my case turned out to be more knowledgeable for my case. And, more compassionate with me. The process was handled smoothly & professionally to completion.
