We have Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, Pagans, Agnostics and Atheists as integral parts of our fellowship. We act together to make a powerful impact in social justice issues in the Atlanta area. UUCA stands out among the UU churches in Atlanta because it has an extremely vibrant (and awesome) group of twenty- and thirty-somethings. We're more than just old hippies! Join with us to become the people the world needs. Edited because I added this to my wedding list: UUCA has an AMAZING event space which you can rent even if you are not a member if it's available. The sanctuary is round and the seating is amphitheater-style. There are skylights in the center of the ceiling. In the hallways around the outside of the sanctuary is an art gallery with rotating exhibitions of local artists and art groups -- when we had our wedding there, it was a fabulous show by the Atlanta Photographers Guild. The social hall is more than large enough for a wedding reception -- we had both a dinner and dancing with a live band, and there is a large patio outside as well as gardens for photos and a playground for the kiddos. The church allows beer and wine to be served on the premises. It's seriously a steal as event spaces go. Far less than 1/4 the price of most event spaces in Atlanta.

We learned about differant cultures and religions and about the world in general. It was a great experience and taught me alot about myself and interacting with others. In addition we had a great time at the UU summer camp the Mountain and always would have fun lock-ins and field trips. I highly recommend attending service here and have been going to UUCA now that I live intown. I like learning about differant religions and deciding what I belive is right, and the atmosphere here is very condusive to this. Whatever your beliefs you will be welcomed!

I was doing some yard sign work for another organization and we have meetings in the Intown…read morebuilding. I saw a sign at an Intown outbuilding at about 4pm on a Sunday that said "Coffeehouse" "Welcome" and people were going in and out. I sure felt like buying a cup of coffee so I went up. A tall young fellow named Chris opened the door but kept hold on the door, keeping me out. "Can I help you?", he asked in a challenging manner. I saw that the place was packed with people milling around and eating standing up and i said that I came to buy a cup of coffee. He said that won't be possible that they were busy. I told him his sign shouldn't say 'welcome', then. Intown seems to me to be just another inbred collection of people who circle their wagons and define themselves among themselves. Nevermind strangers. Or welcome signs.

I cannot comment on anything related to the actual church service, as we went here for something…read moreentirely different. Husband is a musician (cello and banjo) and had said that he had come here in high school to play music. He drug me along a few weeks ago while he went to play. I was surprised at how many people showed up. There were probably 30 or more people who were there to just play bluegrass with each other. Many of them appeared to know one another, as if they were long time friends. They welcomed my husband in quickly. The large group broke off into smaller groups and went into the classrooms. The smaller groups played music taking turns who was leading/picking songs. I am not a musician, so I just sat back and enjoyed the music. People would wonder in and out of the rooms, staying for a song or two then moving on to another room... it was a really cool experience. If you want to come to play some blue grass, this is a great spot. Apparently it is part of the SEBA meetings and Jam sessions... Per their website: Every 2nd Sunday monthly, plenty of jamming and good fellowship. Bring yourself, a friend, and/or your instrument. Regular meetings are from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.
