I went in for back pain, and learned that the pain was a result of my hips being SO out of line. Dr. Norm & Dr. Kristina both took excellent care of me. I first started seeing this chiropractor after a car accident. The car insurance company paid for…read moremy treatment until approximately a month and a half after starting treatment. At that point, Health Horizons informed me that they will no longer take my insurance, and I need to pay out of pocket per visit ($55 per visit for approximately 2 months, multiple appointments). I agreed to this. Once they started asking me to make multiple appointments on multiple days of the week, I opted to stop treatment. The total length of treatment was approximately 3 months. Following that, I was suddenly informed by Health Horizons that the insurance company opted not to make any payments to Health Horizons, and I owed them $700. When I asked why it took the insurance company months to inform them of non-payment, they told me, "that's how it works". This chiropractor is the reason why this "form of treatment" has such a negative reputation both in the medical field and also among the general public. This office sees every patient not as a human being, but as a dollar sign. When their checks stopped being written, they suddenly had insurance issues, and I needed to pay up or else! The "chiropractor" actually left me threatening voice mail messages. Avoid these bottom-feeder scammers at all costs! In response to below: I would never bother with your unscrupulous business again. I will only warn others of your shady practice. this insurance is auto related insurance, not health insurance. I know how much insurance I carry and in this case, it was covered by another liable insurance carrier. In office treatment time averages 10-12 minutes per session. The sessions you are saying that are not covered by insurance in a month were about 10. So 10, 12 minute sessions costs $700 out of pocket??? It's sad that businesses like yours exist, taking advantage of people in uncertain times. You reap what you sow...

I came to Squirrel Hill Chiropractic in agony on my first visit because moving is hard work and I had overdone it. During my initial appointment, Dr. Kathleen O'Connell and her staff took a detailed history and did a thorough exam. Initial adjustments were done carefully and gradually. Heat, vibration, and topical analgesics are used to help decrease discomfort and let the body ease back into alignment. I appreciate this approach because I carry a lot of tension and have scar tissue that makes more aggressive adjustments miserable. I've always been able to get an appointment--even on the same day. The doctors O'Connell are clearly dedicated to improving their patients quality of life. I hope that you don't have need of their services, but don't hesitate to call if you do.
