Confidence, discipline, manners, respect and dedication are taught and fostered in this program in addition to self-defense and anti-bullying. Even his grades in school have improved. I can't say enough about the Coach and this program. They also teach adult classes as well as special workshops for basic women's self defense. I began training in BJJ in 2002, my freshman year in college. After 2 years I moved to Valdosta to…read morefinish school, but had trouble finding quality BJJ at that time (it has since grown down there). I ended up teaching at a local gym as a Blue Belt (mostly no-gi with basic gi) and later got my purple belt from Glenn Hamby, who was a brown belt under Marcio Feitosa at the time. After a few years I had to give up teaching to pursue a career. I have since moved to Fayetteville, GA and was referred to Gracie Balance in Sharpsburg. There are a few schools closer to where I live. I have nothing bad to say about them, since I haven't trained with them, however, since the first day I trained with Jorge (3rd degree under Pedro Sauer) I never regret driving past them to train with Jorge and the rest of the BJJ family there! Keep in mind I have shopped plenty before I moved here, so I'm familiar with how other schools are run (Franco De Camargo--LA, Kron Gracie--LA, Renato Luca--Carazinho, R.S. [Brazil], Hamby Freestyle Jiu Jitsu--Albany, GA, etc.) In short, it's a great, quality school with quality instruction, and a great family to roll with. NEWCOMERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!! NO INTIMIDATION FACTOR TO WORRY ABOUT!! If you are coming to learn, you won't be disappointed!! Whether man, woman, or child, Gracie Jiu Jitsu is by far the best, most practical system I've seen for self-defense.

Classes are just the right size, he stresses techniques over strength, and the studio is always clean. Sundays mornings are womens only jj, we go over really life self defense scenarios, and if you're not comfortable yet rolling with guys there's girls with enough experience to help better your game. Nothing is sugar coated, he teaches you what you need to know and how to protect yourself. As a victim of abuse, sitting in a room and talking to someone over and over can only go so far. I knew I had to heal and over come the physical part. Xingu's been so helpful and understanding and more importantly patient with me while I go through this journey of just be able to cope with it. My youngest daughter was being bullied at school and had it not been for this school and xingu, she wouldn't have had the confidence to stand up to her bully. I'm so so blessed to have him and the school in our lives.
