Not my favorite church to go to, but not too bad either…read more From what I can tell based on the few times I've been to this church, the parishioners are really welcoming, friendly, and warm. I've always felt included and think probably just about anyone would feel the same way walking into this church. I also think they have some variety when it comes to their music. I've now heard a violin, harp, and piano. Definitely better than a typical pipe organ mass (that's for sure). The mass is in the 60-minute range so it doesn't feel rushed or drawn-out. Things I did not particularly care for (as I am pretty conservative). 1. On one occasion, a woman said the homily (and no the priest didn't add anything after her homily). So your initial reaction to this might be that I am some backwards-1960s housewife that isn't for equality. Not even in the slightest....but that's an argument for a different day. 2. I had a friend of mine approach the priest after mass asking if he could set up an appointment time for confession. The priest responded by saying that he could come back during normal confession hours. Sometimes people are unable to make the very short confession times you offer (hence the request for an appointment). I understand that priests are VERY, VERY busy, but not once in my life has anyone I've known ever received that kind of reaction. Again....a discussion for another day. I'd say this is a great place to come if you want a laid-back, not-too-conservative parish. If you tend to be more on the conservative side, a few things may make your blood boil. Overall, not too impressed with the priest, but love their parishioners.

Since Holy Trinity parish was less than a half mile away from where I was staying, I took some family members here to worship God through the holy sacrifice of the Mass on Christmas Eve. The choir was very talented and executed a small amount of polyphony along with some classics like Adeste Fidelis, Joy to the World, and some additional Filipino Christmas works. The priest gave an excellent homily and had the assistance of s newly assigned deacon. I liked that the tabernacle was immediately behind the altar (as in ancient times). There was plenty of parking and everyone seemed super friendly. When one of my loved ones came down with one of those dry throat coughs that even water cannot remedy, a wonderful lady generously gave me a whole entire pack of wintergreen mints which did the trick after 2 mints. I will always be indebted to her for her incredible kindness. As visitors, I was so humbled and appreciative. Yes even in this day and age, there are still wonderful people in our world. I would definitely come back again. Thank you all for a wonderful Christmas Mass experience!

I can honestly say that I've never attending another church with such a strong spiritual emphasis that seemed so genuinely interested in whole and in part in helping its members develop as spiritual humans, in whatever path they set for themselves. The best part of the services in these 3 months has EASILY been the kids books - each service a different kids book is read to the congregation before the little ones are sent off, and the content of the books is so amazing I've started buying the books to share with others regularly. Thank you, KUUF for offering a home to safely explore my (our) spirituality that FEELS like belonging, acceptance, encouragement and most of all... LOVE. 9/2023 We were so welcomed on our first day, folks seemed generally interested in who we were and we were asked 'did you find what you were looking for'. Thank you so much, Kitsap UUF.

I cannot believe there have been no reviews of this wonderful, long-established church in…read moreBremerton! My wife and I have been looking for a "spiritual outlet" for several years and I'm pretty sure we've found it in the Kitsap Unitarian Universalist Fellowship today. I was raised Roman Catholic with nuns in habits and a strict Irish Priest - the whole stereotype Catholic thing. I never felt right being in a Catholic church and had a real hard time with all the dogma that comes with that religion. It just never really "did the job it was supposed to do" for me. In the early 80s I started to consider Judaism, and in 2002 converted to Reform Judaism and that worked for me for over 10 years until it started feeling just like Catholicism in many ways all over again. Despite not as much dogma as Christianity, I never really felt like I fit in or that Judaism truly fit me. It just stopped "doing the job it was supposed to do" for me. I phrase it this way based on the sermon I heard this morning from Rev. Jessica Star Rockers entitled "Letting Go of God". She spoke as if the words were aimed right at me - telling us how in her own spiritual journey, the "old Gods just weren't doing the job anymore" and I really connected to that in such a direct way. I've tried "alternatives to the old churches" before - but one of them felt no compunction about bringing politics into the sermon in a big way, even using names of elected leaders. Political tensions should NOT be a part of a spiritual service. I want to have an experience to ESCAPE that stuff and focus on inner peace and being with others wanting the same. Another church we tried that proclaimed to be non-denominational ended up preaching about how Jesus Christ is this that and the other and took on a very Christian stance - a god that to me "no longer did the job for me". It felt very denominational. But Kitsap UU is NOTHING like that, at least based on our experience there this morning. We both felt warmly welcomed, not "smothered in attention" as newcomers often are or enduring stares from longtime members at the "new people". We were welcomed without any strings. The music was wonderful, with a really pretty trumpet piece by Mike the music director. There was a very entertaining "Children's Story" segment on the physics of energy, complete with a pendulum demo by a scientist member - all to equate laws of the physics of energy to our spiritual energy. It was really cool! The views out the sanctuary windows are inspiring just by themselves - moss-draped ancient trees flowing down a deep wooded ravine, with nothing but nature to see. I spent the "moment of silence" (more like minutes!) just contemplating the quiet of the surroundings on a beautiful sunny morning. Knock on wood, but we plan to make this our "spiritual home" at least once a month and get to know more people as we get more acquainted with the church, the people, and the experience. But for now, if you're looking for a place to feel welcomed no matter who you are or what your background is or what you believe, this well could be that place.
