They are very flexible with drop-off and pick-up times, and have before-care and after-care at no additional cost. Spanish lessons start at age 1. The rooms are clean, they have structured days, and an excellent child-to-teacher ratio. Safe sleep environment for infants. Cons: I know from a former teacher that they don't pay their teachers a living wage, which must affect morale and how they show up to work. The teachers all seemed burnt out and scared. None of them talked to us, nor did it seem the administration wanted them to talk to us. Also heard from previous staff they have in the past (not sure about currently) been discriminatory towards non-Catholic students, i.e. not providing them with needed occupational or speech therapy. (Illegal) The days are structured, but are they too structured? These are babies. They start wearing uniforms at age 1, which I thought was hilarious. So do they need 20 uniforms for a week for how many changes of clothes they go through? No diversity among the preschool population. Almost exclusively white. The food included for ages 2 and up was catered and all came in styrofoam containers. The thought of this kind of waste and environmental damage is unfathomable. Ultimately, not the place for our child.

Father Hoang Minh Tuong replaced Father Bernie last year as the pastor and has been warmly accepted by the parishoners. This is a very close knit group of parishioners, as we see many of the same people each and every time we come here. The masses are always packed, so don't arrive late unless you like sitting all the way in the front.

I'm going to write and use my voice in the most graceful way that I can. To begin we were new in a…read moretransitioning year to St. Catherine of Siena school. With the opportunity that arised in quite the serendipitous way, with one spot being open and of course family support who are apart of the school. Also the priest who to welcomed our son to St. Catherine and we could not have been any happier on our son's new journey at the school. That was far from that our transitioning year was an adjustment as much would expect it to be. We had an amazing teacher to welcome us and accommodate our son, with her kindness and patience she accepted our son as he is, whole heartedly. The first call meeting the assistant teacher at the time instantly stated that my son did not have social cues that fit what she perceived to be acceptable, nor did she care to state in which way she would help or what we can do to better help our son. Given she was not the head teacher it seemed very odd for that to be shared so abruptly and with the notion that there's an issue with him. Let's keep in mind he is a new student to a very large school. Also not every child is to exude the same social traits and be as everyone else is. We should be encouraging children to embrace who they are and be themselves. This school year he happen to have that same teacher. We went in with an open mind and knew that our son would find his way and be embraced. Quite the opposite occurred, my son came home and shared with us on multiple occasions of bullying from being pinned against the wall in the bathroom by older students, being called fat a**. We had a meeting to discuss what is going on. The principle even asked if he had any friends at the school, neither one of his teachers said a word. My son spends 8 hours with you all and majority of the year at your campus and you can't see or know if he is playing with anyone... ? Red flag. The constant talk of him being involved in the outside parish activities would be the best bet was suggested.. so in conclusion in order for my son to accepted to this school or in this community he must play externally to it? The discussion of an evaluation being done outside of the school to further see if there may be a form of a disability, knowing that there could be a possibility of him even having any struggle with it, that may be affecting him so who on earth with a heart would dismiss a child for that?! To dismiss any child is cruel but to dismiss a child who may have any form of a disability is even more profoundly disturbing in every way possible. Fair day my son was laughed at and dismissed again before performance. To see my son not only shoved in the back when he was originally standing next to the ADULT in charge - hence the teacher to engage in this behavior is demonic. To purposely allow for any child to feel left out should not be a teacher to begin with. To work in the education system I'm most certain that's not the goal is to purposely dismiss a student of any kind. As a parent to hear about it vs to truthfully see it be done to your child, is a gut wrenching feeling I wish for no parent. As for the adult parents to condone the behavior of their children to be outwardly hateful well.. that speaks for itself. Cruel is as cruel does. I don't have enough words to describe the emotional cruelty that has been done to my son justifiable. No child should ever be treated that way. No parent should have to endure that kind of pain. We know kids can be cruel, we are all very much aware of that however to have nothing be done is disturbing to join in it is disgusting and for a teacher to tell a nine year old who is struggling with bullying, that he is a liar and is hurting people by talking to his parents is unsettling and quite the opposite of what we should be telling children. Children learn what they're taught, like I said before to hear about it is one thing but to see it be done, is not only shocking but a mockery. As a parent I listen, I hear and I become the eyes for my child and their voice when their voice isn't heard. As a parent I do not have the goal of raising my kids to become the next carbon copy. I would much rather my children be raised with culture and diversity and being true and authentically themselves. I will not bend to any schools will especially so my child can become like them. It's easier to pin the bigger, new boy as the bully when standing amongst each other than to admit that they're the bullies. What I witnessed as a parent at this school will forever be embedded with me as quite the revealing lesson. As a parent I had to take a step back and ask myself the hard question of "does this school represent who I am or who my children are? ". "Does this represent my morals and beliefs?" absolutely not.
