I don't envy a place like Grace and Shelly's. They've got a tough job, trying to balance creativity with senior citizen appeal. Naples is tricky like that. There's a ton of foot traffic (hence, restaurants and desserteries), and that foot traffic is in a money-spending mood. But the snow bird lot has their tastes set in stone, more or less, and many of them would shy away from an abundance of craziness from the local cupcake concern. As such, Grace and Shelly's needs to walk a fine line between being innovative and being too far out there. And they succeed. They have a wealth of varieties that showcase classic flavors (carrot cake with a whipped cream cheese frosting) and just-a-little-whimsical items (Butterfinger cupcake, as an example). I recommend Grace and Shelly's as a baked goods alternative to the wealth of ice cream, gelato and fro-yo options on 5th Avenue. read more

One of my favorite places on 5th. I avoid most popular places in Naples on holiday weekends as they are overcrowded with east-coast people. Good lord why are they so unpleasant and rude I have friends visiting, we decided to go to 5th for a walk and stoped at Grace and Shelly's for ice cream. That place was packed at 9:55pm on a Saturday night. People were so rude, loud and unpleasant. I have no idea how the person serving us keep a smile on his face and keep working as quickly as possible to accommodate a bunch of indecisive A..holes. Seriously fantastic ice cream! I had the cookie dough. My son got the medium chocolate milkshake. He said it was the best he had ever had (16 year old chocolate expert). It better be for $10.95. PERSONALLY ONLY TASTED THE GLUTEN-FREE CUPCAKES These are the only items I've had over several visits. They don't make too many and have definitely run out by early afternoon. While the flavor is great and (very) cute-ly decorated, these Cakes are pretty dense and only mildly moist inside (however that's a common difficulty in GF pastries with difficult solutions ). Not the freshest tasting... I assume from only having a limited number made each time and not enough potential customers. My partner and I visited Grace & Shelly's cupcakes for an ice cream date about a week ago. The cashiers were both friendly, helpful and swift. The ice cream was delicious. We (my partner and I) then went for a walk. About 15 minutes later, he realized he did not have his wallet. As we began retracing our steps, one of the cashiers came outside the store to signal for our attention. They had not only held onto his wallet for him, but had also placed his debit card back into his wallet. Their kindness, honesty and help were beautiful signs of human thoughtfulness on a trying day. I took a picture of the sign specifically to write favorable reviews based on this experience. I do not recall their names. But both young ladies looked like teenagers. One was brown. One was white. If they may be identified and rewarded by this company, they absolutely deserve it. We will revisit G&S in the future and share this experience. read more

I use to love this place, it was a staple for me and fiancé he would always take me here whenever I needed a pick me up and get me their cupcakes, when we got engaged the one thing I wanted to make sure we had was their cupcakes catered at our wedding, it has been like pulling teeth trying to even speak with someone in charge over there. The owner Sonja is blowing me off I have emailed her multiple times have given her my number and have requested with to have a meeting with her since she was impossible to get a hold of her. He told me yes he could and would call me back with a date and time and I still haven't heard back and it has been over a week since. Dear Grace And Shelly, Disappointed I didn't get to meet you guys to thank you for the cupcakes. Me and My friend, Butch, were created by a man who was large and in charge. We were welcomed warmly and were treated with appreciation. I was touched by the excellent customer service. After a long and labor-intensive process, we decided to choose the TRIPLE-CHOCOLATE CUPCAKE, along with a Dasani bottled water. I may or may not have forced Butch to drink it. I forget. We sat outside, in the humid heat, forcing ourselves to suffer without air-conditioning. The setting was nice. The cupcake was moist and the frosting was good. But, it wasn't special. I wish I picked a cupcake cooler to eat, like Banana or something. The flavor variations were intriguing. This is a new location for these gals. It is worth a try! They have a good mix of classic and creative cupcakes. Our favorite was the flavor of the week, Chocolate Hazelnut Cupcake: Yellow cake with chocolate swirled throughout, topped with a smudge of chocolate (Nutella?!) and THAT was topped with a hazelnut cream icing. Our next favorite was the Butterfinger Cupcake: Yellow cake topped with creamy icing mixed with crumbled Butterfinger candybar pieces, then topped with more Butterfinger candybar pieces. In the center of the cupcake was a happy little taste of peanut butter. 3rd runner-up was a take on a classic: Mint chocolate cupcake. Moist chocolate cake topped with refreshing and SWEEEEET minty icing. That's what she said. Her sweet tooth isn't as big as ours. On a personal note, I have found that with the explosion of decadent icing cupcakes, it is best to eat with a fork in order to enjoy the icing with EVERY bite of cake and avoid getting that pretty icing on your pretty little nose. My friend and I passed by Grace and Shelly's Cupcakes on a Saturday night. Since it was the first time we've been here we decided to get the 12 pack of shooters (mini cupcakes) to try out a variety of flavors. The first shooter I had, which was the worst one, was the brown sugar caramel. The consistency of the cake was a little odd, but okay. The frosting was horrible; it tasted just like butter. I tried to find any other flavor or consistency in the frosting, but all I could taste was butter covered in a caramel drizzle. It was the same for another caramel covered shooter that was in the pack. Other than those two, the rest were good. I did notice that the vanilla cakes were more like poundcake (which I don't mind at all) but some may find them a bit too dry. The chocolate cake was AMAZING. Every single chocolate shooter did not disappoint, and the same goes for the red velvet. If you're in town, you should try this place out, just be careful of the flavors I had mentioned above. Three star rating because although the cupcakes draw us, the hard ice cream is impossible to eat with the cheap flexible spoons provided, the chairs outside are retarded, and those little creamers for coffee are stupid and wasteful.
