    Lamb and souvlaki
    Annette S.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this Greek restaurant, especially after visiting Greece in spring and enjoying the traditional Greek food of Heraklion. We know and understand that many restaurants put the german influence into the cuisine so it lacks the true nature of international flavor. We were pleasantly surprised with this place; I ordered lamb and it was so tender, it literally fell off the bone. My husband ordered the souvlaki and he even ate the rice that accompanied it which is not his norm. We were served ouzo, of course and enjoyed our wine in romantic candle light down in a cool bricked cellar type area, a pleasant surprise on such a hot summer night!! You must have reservations! English menu is available and thorough. Staff speaks English and is very accommodating and friendly. We will be back.

Greek/Mediterrainian food is my #2 go-to food type. And this place did not disappoint. The decor is quaint and comfortable. And since I was a table of 1, I was seated in the back corner but there was plenty of light. The server brought out the free apertif of ouzo to cleanse the palate. I ordered a Greek red wine which was very easy to drink. For food I ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an app and the Farmer Skewer for my main. The mushrooms came in a delicious sauce, lots of cheese and meat. The skewer had 3 different types of meat - all cooked to perfection and as tender as anything I have had in quite some time. If I had more time, I would repeat my visit here for sure. **warning here: As with all German restaurants, the portions here are large (yes, even compared to America) and I regretted ordering the app b/c it could have been a meal.**

Lamb salad with fig dressing and pita bread! Super yummy!

The servers were very nice and they accept credit cards. I ordered the lamb salad with fig dressing and pita bread and a side of tzatziki and it was super yummy!! I would go back for sure! After being seated we were greeted with a warming shot of ouzo. Right now it seems like they have major construction on their road so you need to park on the side street and walk to the restaurant.

    Krini Platte for 2...YUM!!!

Don't be deceived by the sign on the building ("Hirsch Weinstube") and no sign with the restaurant 's name, you are in the right place (as the menu by the door will attest). There are several different rooms within, so while it is much bigger than I had expected, it didn't feel too large once you are seated. Service was typical, but with the nice touch of rather than asking loudly whether I wanted an English menu, they quietly just gave me one (I clearly can't pass for German yet). My lamb shank in tomato sauce with pearl onions and roasted potato slices was fantastic. The lamb was perfectly cooked so that it was fork tender but not mushy, and the pearl onions and tomato sauce with it were delicious. The roasted potato slices were also nice done, if somewhat plain with just some salt and pepper for seasoning. With the pearl onions or lamb though, they gave a nice little crunch. While the prices were perfectly reasonable (€20 for an entree and beverage), the atmosphere is a little more upscale (plenty of jeans, but all with button down shirts or sweaters). Overall a great combination of reasonable prices, good food, and a slightly nicer atmosphere makes this a great choice for a date night, treating guests, or just grabbing a nice meal when you don't feel like cooking.
