Once within you see it's not just local vendors but a healing space featuring wellness studios, esthetician services, and meeting places where folks gather for events from yoga to presentations. There's a water refill station inside and a great restroom with sinks available indoor and out of the actual restroom. I noticed some meeting places as well with transparent walls good for community gatherings. Some notable places I've seen are The Sanctuary, DandiLion wax studio, and the Charleston Wellness Studio. Upon reading another Yelp review I loved they offer a venue space as well which would be great for showers or weddings perhaps! Something to look into. Another wonderful addition to the Schoolhouse is the picturesque garden next door. Enjoyed the flowers and greenery before embarking on my next task. Very peaceful space.

The Schoolhouse is a fairly new event center, I believe it has been about a year? More or less,…read morecould be wrong. At any rate, we were looking for a spot to hold our mom's 70th birthday surprise party. We were struggling with finding availability on a Saturday afternoon - church reception halls were booked, other venues were booked, and then other venues just wanted to charge too much for a birthday party (charging us Charleston wedding prices!!). The Schoolhouse actually did not come up in our search, but was recommended to my sister. My sister immediately contacted the Schoolhouse to check availability. They have a couple different rooms that are rentable, depending on size. We didn't need anything too big, so we were able to rent out the Music Room. Small room good for 30-40 people. They supply the chairs/tables with the rental. On the day of, Heather was there to meet us, and gave me her number in case we had any questions. I will say, the only issue was that there was another group that had a function going on in the next room and they had come in and taken one of our tables. So we had to take it back! Not a big issue, since Heather took charge, but it just seems like people don't understand that multiple events can go on. That is the biggest issue that I see with this space, is that people don't understand that multiple events can go on. Obviously, if you are the one renting it, then you know it, but your guests do not. So as we were setting up, we had the doors open so that we could bring stuff in from the cars. Well there were some random people that just walked into and through our room. Do you not see us setting up? Then eventually two people came in and were on the floor giving massages (what in the world??) - not sure if they were tenants or from the other party. Again, do you not see us setting up? We told them we had this space reserved, and they were willing to leave. Then I guess the party next door did not bring enough supplies, coming in and asking us for cups. No, we bought these for our party. I wouldn't say this is a fault to the event center, but a fault to guests/other people renting, to give other people common courtesy. We did end up closing all doors once we got everything inside from all of the cars, and had no other issues. My only suggestion would be to maybe have signs in place by the rental facility showing that "this room is privately reserved today, please do not enter". During the actual party with the room filled, it did get very warm. It was at least a cool night so that we opened the door to the outside to let cool air in. I'm not sure if we knew how to adjust the temperature or if we could adjust it, but that was our means of just letting the building be and letting cool air in. Also, there is ample parking in front and in back of the building. So your guests do not have to worry about having to park and walk or to pay for parking. Overall, I would definitely recommend this space for a party - reasonably priced, with a great setup on how much space you actually need.

We got suite which absolutely rocked, and then a regular room (which also rocked, I love sofas in hotel rooms). The pool was perfect as was the deck for chilling day or night. The bistro was great and super convenient. We also had snacks from the well-stocked store area at front. Mariah from this property, called my number I left when I first made reservation, regarding a problem; and I ended up being so glad she did, as we were able to make alternate plans. Tina checked us in and worked with us too, and was so sweet and accommodating. I HIGHLY recommend and you will understand why when you pull up to the property!

Desk staff could be unhelpful. Shuttle to downtown wonderful with pleasant drivers. The high point of the location. We arrived early in the day. The man at the front desk graciously took our luggage for storge. We returned in the early - mid afternoon, way before most people checked in. Promptly given a room. Something looked off. The beds were very low with thinner mattress. Going into the bathroom I realized that we were in a handicap accessible room that we booked by mistake. I called the front desk asking if we could move rooms. The lady at the front desk said, no.= as we requested 2 beds. I then asked to speak with manager. She said, hold on, came back a minute or so later stating, no room. I then asked again to speak with the manager. A couple of minutes later she moved us to a similar 2 bed room! We went to the new (bland room without a dresser or any drawers) room. I went to plug in devices. The 1st room had a great cube clock with #2 a/c plugs as well as USB ports! There was no clock and barely one plug behind the nightstand. I called the front desk asking about a clock. The same woman said, no clocks available. I used my usual line, I would like to speak with the manager. Hold on she said. She returned shortly to say, a clock will be delivered. Within a few minutes the man who took our luggage earlier in the day came by with a brand new clock in plastic wrapping. He went to plug it in and I saw, insuficient outlets for our needs. I asked if he could take the clock from the 1st room. He said, if no one checked in (about 10 mins had passed) he would be able to get the clock. He returned shortly with the more useful clock. Bottom line, some in the hotel are helpful. Others just know the word now until challenged. Convenient washer/dryer

I purchased the Tea Service ahead of time. Everyone was very friendly but I will say, overly cautious. I had indicated that I have a tree nut allergy on the notes when I booked our reservation and I have never had an establishment refuse me service because of my allergy , but they did. For the life of me I couldn't understand why a slight adjustment couldn't be made to remove almonds from one tiny dish. They also refused to serve one of my daughters for a lactose intolerance note. I assured them it was ok and I had a lactaid for her to take, she'd be fine. I had only included that note because SOME places will offer alternatives. Ultimately, they served us but I had to sign a waiver, never have I ever until now. Most of the tea service items were very good with the exception of the tiny lemon chess pie which was curdled and tasted of rotten eggs, awful. The tea was excellent and the scones and curd and cream were great too. The area where the dining room is, is nothing fancy at all. It was decent but I was truly disappointed as I was hoping for something more extravagant for tea service. The plantation home, while nice was also truly underwhelming. Great history, good tour guide who was very knowledgeable and a great storyteller, but the house was not anywhere near as fancy as others I have visited. I think what was the biggest let down was that this was the first time my daughters were visiting any plantation home and it was not at all what I was hoping for them to see and experience. If I had known what it looked like more ahead of time, I would have chosen another location in the area. Pictures inside the home are not allowed.

I've been to baseball games across the country. I've been lucky enough to be in luxury suites at every type of sporting event as well. So my first visit to this luxury suite at the Riverdogs stadium and I was sold. It's fantastic! After picking up our tickets at will call you head to the stairs or the elevator and go to floor 3. Douglas meet us at the entrance to check our tickets, give us wrist bands and explain about the free beer and food. The room is from home plate all the way down past the first base line so it's huge. The bathroom was nice and super clean (I thought of our dear friend Mike M when I saw how nice it was). For free beer they had on draft Bud, Michelob Ultra, an Amber, Fat Tire and an IPA. Both the Fat Tire and the IPA ran out before the end of the game so I switched to Bud! And the food. Soooo much! Burgers, dogs, bbq and brisket with all the sides and fixings you could ask for. From the suite you don't have to stay inside you can go out and join the crowd in a whole section of seats as well. I could keep going on about how great of a time I had, but I think you have caught my drift by now. I hope to get spoiled again and get to go back!

We had something similar in Savannah a few years ago, but it closed, and I've missed having a work club ever since. So when I found out Switchyard was opening here, I literally jumped up and down with excitement! As a remote worker, I know how hard it can be to spend hours in a coffee shop without feeling guilty for taking up space. Switchyard solves that problem beautifully. I had the chance to preview the new Savannah location before it opened, and the atmosphere is absolutely perfect. I was worried it might feel too bright or overwhelming, but it's the exact opposite: warm, inviting lighting, plenty of seating options (from cozy nooks to larger tables), and enough space for everyone to feel comfortable and focused. Plus, they've partnered with some of the best local coffee spots--Origin and PERC--so you can enjoy amazing coffee while you work. And the coolest part? THEY'RE OPEN 24 HOURS! I can't wait to experience the Savannah location once it officially opens. I'm beyond excited to have a space like this in our city!

If you think about the overhead cost of owning or renting an office that comes with coffee/tea AND WiFi, especially in downtown Charleston, $100/month membership is a bargain of a deal! This workspace cooperative is great for all types of individuals looking for a place to work or network even! The areas are well laid out, organized and clean. Great effort went into the detail of planning this space! The staff are friendly and you can't be at 24/7 access. Especially for those 3am crunch work sessions or moments when you can't sleep and want to be productive but everything around you is distracting! Plus with the membership you can visit ANY of the other 25 Switchyard locations! What a steal!
