We have ordered takeout at least twice a month since Covid-19. Every time the food is fantastic. Last night the online ordering system (qmenu) had issues which resulted in a longer than normal wait. Chicken wings, crispy beef and pork fried rice. Chicken wings were ok but they didn't have the proper size container for them so they were cold when they got here. Crispy Beef was soggy and very chewy. Way too sweet. Pork Fried rice was ok. Lacked any seasoning. And I told them the delivery was to a hotel room but they did t bring any utensils plates or napkins. Won't order again. read more

Took mom here for a pre-Mother's Day Mother's Day dinner, since neither of us really cares about brunch, plus we were doing a weekend of yard work. She was all gung-ho about the place, and at first I was like "Ugh, Americanized vaguely asian food?" After her indignant explanation of their committment to organic and high-quality food, I changed my tune and said "let's do it!" The interior is understated and pleasant, though not particularly remarkable. Nonetheless, it feels comfortable without being ostentatious. The hosts are polite and pleasant without being obsequious, and we did not have a long wait for a table. Our server was extremely pleasant and made several personal suggestion, always a sign of a restaurant that educates their servers! We settled on an appetizer of steamed peking ravioli (mom's favorite) which were delicious - not gummy or sticky as many can be, but just properly cooked and with a soy-sauce based dipping sauce that was slightly spicy and just the right complement. Since they offered an extensive sushi selection, I had to go for my favorites: Spider Maki, unagi sushi and (gasp) they had Toro! I ordered Toro sashimi. And not at a terrible price! The rolls were everything I've come to love from Spider Maki, the Unagi was delicious, and the...well...the Toro wasn't up to the usual quality. Not enough marbling, so it didn't have that huge mouth feel you usually get. Tasty yellowfin sashimi, though! Mom's red ginger chicken was a recommendation of the waiter, and did not disappoint - a slightly sweet, tangy sauce in just the right amount coating delicately cooked pieces of white meat chicken, steamed broccoli. The kicker to all this: They offer akai rice. It's SUPER healthy and tastes fantastic. All sushi can be made with it, and any rice dish can be substituted with akai rice. Oh, of course we stuck around for the karaoke, long enough for me to sing The Little River Band's "Reminiscing" in honor of mom (us and that song go back a long way). We had a great time here, and next time I head down to Hingham to clean the gutters or reorganize the garage, I'll look forward to another dinner here! read more

Accepting a impromptu invitation to Asian C, I was pleasantly surprised y what I discovered upon my first visit to this restaurant. The menu was comparable to most other Chinese restaurants. For the night we had some spicy beef, crab rangoons, and some white rice. For an appetizer we had some raw oysters on the half-shell, and they were delicious! The spicy beef was tasty as well, though every once in a while I'd bite down on a hot pepper seed and my mouth would be ablaze. Portions were generous, and the three of us had plenty to eat. Our server was very attentive never letting our glasses empty. The atmosphere was pretty inviting, the décor was fairly muted with Chinese accents here & there, pretty much what one would expect from a Chinese restaurant. Saturday night was Karaoke night, which only added to the mood. My friends and I got up and sang a few numbers myself. Overall I had a great experience at Asian C and I will gladly return for more Karaoke and raw oysters, and after reading some of the reviews here I am anticipating trying some sushi as well! STAY AWAY!!! I received an email from Asian C saying that they were having a Red Sox kickoff for the Sox vs Yankee opening night. Watch the game on their big screen TVs and enjoy Free Appetizers. Went with some friend and when we got there they they pulled the ole bait and switch. They didn't have any appetizers out and when we asked about it the entire staff including the night manager acted as if they knew nothing about it. It was only after 3 other groups of people came in and asked about the apps that they acknowledged they sent out an email. Finally the manager allowed people to order 1 of 4 items. Now here is the kicker...they only allowed 1 free appetizer per group. We had 3 people and got 4 wings to split. Screw that. We packed up and blasted to The Fours to watch the game. The place only had 10 people in it and all of them except one had come in due to the email. Everyone was ticked off when they gave people a hard time. Not a good way to do business. read more

I order from this restaurant once a month. In addition, on New Year's Eve each year. They are extremely accommodating for my son's food allergies and menu alterations so he can have a normal meal. Today I called to order for tonight. A busy day, I know, but one of the only places my son can eat. It was 1030 am and I placed an order for 8 pm pick up. I told them about his dairy allergy and ordered a gluten free entrée for a friend. They told me they couldn't accommodate any allergies today. Gluten free entrées on the menu wouldn't be guaranteed today. I asked if there was any way to get food for tonight as we have been accommodated for food allergies here multiple times. I said, "I'm not sure what to do, we count on ordering from you guys on New Year's Eve every year. This is really inconvenient. I can pay extra, pick up before it gets busy, anything." A woman who later told me she's the manager, and the only person I could talk to, told me, "that's not my problem!" I appreciate that it's a busy night. I understand the inability to accommodate and appreciate the heads up about not being able to guarantee the safety. I do not, however, appreciate the lack of respect and tone of voice with which I was handled. This woman was COMPLETELY out of line. I cannot and will not patronize a business that cares so little about their customers that they would yell at someone like that. I'm done. Thanks for the food and all the wonderful memories. "Chad's Eats" review of Gourmet Garden Cuisine: Asian, Sushi Location: Hingham, MA Parking: Ample free parking / designated parking lot Decor / Ambiance: Semi modern. On the elegant / upscale side compared to places such as Gourmet Oriental in Weymouth (dive). In fact Gourmet Oriental can't even sit at the same table as Gourmet Garden. They are two completely different class of restaurants. No keno and karaoke at Gourmet Garden, it's all about the food here. Nice bar. Nice little sushi bar to the left as you walk in. Greeting: If you go there when it's busy is usually an onslaught of takeout going on but in general your sat rather quickly. I went there to pick up take out one time on a busy Friday night and unfortunately my wife called the order into the wrong location. I put my order in and sat there for a while until it was completed. I couldn't help but think that it seemed like the stock market at the front desk, folks trying to Get their take-out and other folks coming in looking to get sat. My wife and I usually go for lunch on Saturdays or Sundays and sadly it's pretty slow so were sat immediately. The staff are very friendly Menu mix: The menu has a lot of your standards but so much of it is creative Asian cuisine. The sushi is what draws my wife and I here. They have a lot of unique specialties here as well. They are listed on the menu as "must try". I like the way the menu is laid out because it breaks it down into sections. Water / Bread service: No bread here, water is a little bit bleachy. We're all about the hot tea though Drink pour: We haven't had drinks here so I am unable to comment on the generosity or lack there of on their drink pours Food quality: As I mentioned previously my wife and I come here mainly for the sushi. Hands-down I believe it is the best sushi you're going to find in the South Shore area. It is never a disappointment, and it is always a grand presentation. There is also a big emphasis on healthier options. They got the best house fried rice I have ever had it's unlike any other place. Service: Pleasant prompt and very accommodating. Often when we get our check we end up getting a special dessert of vanilla ice cream rolled and cornflakes. It's one of those things you don't really want, you take a bite, the next thing you know you're scraping the plate clean.I think this is very generous and a nice touch to present the bill. It doesn't happen all the time and in fact sometimes we tell them not to do it because we are on our way to go hiking or mountain biking. Value: You pay a little more than your standard Asian restaurant but once you see the food quality it's certainly warranted. So let me start by saying that the 2 stars is because of the service and not so much because of the food. I've been to the sister restaurant in Canton.. and I enjoyed it a lot more because they actually treated me like a human being.... A friend and I came here because I was staying a couple of nights in Hingham and we had a Groupon... I simply asked our waiter "would you mind taking my voucher now just in case my phone dies" he replied with "Just.use.another.time then"... umm excuse me? needless to say he took my god darn Groupon. He was the worst waiter ever... I have a laundry list of complaints. I never felt so uncomfortable at an establishment before. It was like he was annoyed by our presence...... We ordered sushi, ginger beef, and shrimp basil rice... Our dinner came out and they made the wrong thing...he didn't even apologize he just grabbed it and plopped it on the table when it was fixed. We probably shouldn't of eaten there but we were so hungry! We love this place...my sig other and I pop in here on Saturday nights for the karaoke. We do not sing (much to everyone's appreciation) but we do enjoy watching/listening to others. The food here is good..we love the healthy rice options and the seasonings of the dishes are spot on and delish. We have had the sushi, tastes very fresh and I love the high protein rice. We have also come in for the lunch buffets...great assortment, basic but tasty sushi, and they replenish often. Definitely recommend this place! read more

I went to the other GG restaurant in Canton and I would personally prefer this branch. 1. This is a better choice for people at south shore (Quincy & Braintree), as I-93 and I-95 area can be trafficky. There are not that many Asian restaurant in the area. 2. Fresh veggie, good quality rice and decorated dishes 3. Portions are generally great, not sure about seafood I would definitely come back. I think the location is not great so there are not many people who would visit a restaurant at this location, but it's worth the visit for any one who wants to try quality Chinese/Japanese food. read more

At the end they gave us complimentary ice cream and we were also the obnoxious people with two gift cards and a debit card we wanted to use to pay the bill and they not only executed it exactly as we asked but also didn't give us an attitude about it. Wow. To admit that I have been wanting to get to check this place out for a few years is sad.... Hard to fathom a Chinese place closing its kitchen at 9:40pm on a Thursday. The place is just a place..... it had a funny smell, and the food was pretty average. The atmosphere was similar to a funeral home at the end of a wake for someone who was 99. The one thing they have going is that its the only Chinese place in that little area, so they must get somewhat of a steady flow for people who want the basics. Was not impressed when after asked if I wanted another cocktail, it was made and poured into my dirty glass. Not used to that sub par effort, but its not Boston. Pass on this place. I was initially skeptical of this place due to some of the older, less favorable reviews, but I bought a groupon ($30/$15) and decided to brave it anyway. SO glad I did. The sushi is outstanding. Even with a huge party taking up one half of the restaurant on a Saturday evening, we were seated promptly and offered free soup because they expected we might have to wait for our rolls... turns out the wait wasn't bad at all, the miso was delicious, and the rolls were absolutely delicious. The fact that our server was friendly and attentive was the icing on the cake. Great spot, glad it's right in Hingham. Will definitely be back. (We did not order anything off the traditional menu so I can't say for sure if the entrees are any good, but I'm optimistic!) read more

This is the SECOND time this place called the police on my daughter. You'd think she was causing a ruckus and flipping tables. Not the case at all. In fact the first time she had an issue with communication about a groupon (see review further down.) She called me that particular occasion and was completely calm but nervous because they called the police on her. The manager was in the background yelling at my daughter. I could hear her through the phone. My daughter was whispering to me. I told her to leave the restaurant. The second time was this week. My daughter chose to order take out instead of going there. She actually enjoys their Spicy Tuna Sushi. She ordered on Monday and brought it home and then ordered again a few days later. That particular time she noticed she had massive amounts of oil under her sushi. She called and asked about it and they told her to send pictures, so she did. She asked if she could return it to get her money back and they agreed. She calls to tell me this and sends me pictures (Which were not appetizing looking.) She wasn't mad, she was just telling me about the situation. She calls me after because they refused to refund her and as soon as she walked in they said "stay right here" and called the police on her! This place abuses our towns resources over absolutely ridiculous things! I will never step foot in there and I work in walking distance to it. Apparently from the reviews under here...their management staff appears to need a lesson in being kind. If it weren't for the customer, there'd be no Gourmet Garden! I have read all the above comments and I have my own to add: On 9/4/14 my girlfriend and I ordered almost sixty Dollars worth of Japanese and Chinese food. We both ended up with severe cramps and diarrhea all night long and when I called them (multiple messages later) to speak with the manager, the first thing she said was "ummm, nobody else got sick on that day!" No apologies and straight to denial. I wasn't calling to get my money back but to register a complaint and a heads up on possibly tainted food. All she could say was well what do you want me to do for you?!!! Obviously these people don't care about their customers health. She said she would give me a discount next time I come to her restaurant when I told her I would write this incident up on Yelp. I should report them to the city... Hmmm read more

The Garden Gourmet was mine & my husband's ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Asian restaurant since it changed from Asian C Restaurant a couple years ago. We've been going there regularly and the food WAS always consistently delicious and well above the quality level of food at other restaurants. For the past 3 visits (and 1 take out order) over the last 3-4 months the quality of the food has changed DRASTICALLY, and not in a good way! The chicken wings used to be large & succulent, now they are tiny, dry wings with a generic Chinese Food seasoning, almost as if the came frozen and were heated inn a microwave. Smaller portions, too. The spareribs on the bone also used to be deliciously cooked (used to be our favorites) and now they are dry with tons of grease dripping off of them. The crazy chow foon now has no flavor. They have now started to charge for refills on soda (I always order cocktails and my husband gets soda), and even the ice cream they serve after the meal has stale cereal on it. They seem to really be cutting corners and must have switched to a new cook, because it is definitely NOT "gourmet" anymore. We are SO DISAPPOINTED! Used to love coming here, but after the 3rd "strike", they are OUT! NO MORE Garden Gourmet for us. :( read more

I'll tell it like it is, we went there 2 weeks ago for lunch on a sat afternoon. We ordered the luncheon specials, NO LUNCHEON SPECIALS ON SAT. So we orderd off the menu. We both got soup wonton and eggdrop, not bad. The main course on the other hand, well not that great. I've had both the Chinese and sushi. The Chinese food lunch buffet is decent. Nothing to write home about but nothing bad either. All the usual stuff you'd expect it to include. I'd say probably a 3. The sushi is a 4. Very tasty. We had the Alaska roll, Spicy tuna, and the usual boring old California rolls. All were so fresh and delicious, especially the Spicy tuna. The shrimp tempura was good. The veggie tempura I found a little bit bland compared to others I've had. And you don't get rice, soup or salad unless you order a full meal or order them as sides, unlike other places where it comes with almost everything. So even though the sushi is a 4, I've gotta bump them down. read more

I enjoy eating good Japanese food so when I got a Groupon to try this place that has organic influences, I said sure. I will say that the dishes they show on their web site are enticing and sort of translate OK to the actual dining experience. I've had several varieties of sushi and the hot stone grill with fish. The quality of the sushi wasn't bad but lack character which for me is freshness and flavor. The quantity is also on the lower side so I felt I was paying more for less food. The thing that rubs me the wrong way is the "I don't give a F***K about you attitude that I've received from the hostess and waiters." As I normally dine alone, I've had to deal with people staff that treat me like a 2nd class citizen, truthfully I'm getting tired of it. If the staff can't make eye contact and sound disinterested in me, I'm gonna blast negative reviews, mentally note never to go there again, and in the future, walk out. read more

The freshest Chinese food around. When my usual choice for Chinese food became mediocre, I tried here, was pleasantly surprised and I am now a regular. The scallion pancakes are delicious, as are the crab rangoon, beef teriyaki, and vegetarian lo mein. The beef and chicken meals are fresh and tasty, and their egg foo yong is great. Best of all, as regular customer, you get discount coupons emailed to you about once a month. I mostly do take-out, but when I have dined in, the service is very good. We have been getting our sushi here for years and always thought it was excellent. Ordered the shrimp tempura sushi today and it was delicious, but ordered the spicy tuna tempera sushi as well and it was awful. They definetely changed the way they used to make it and it was tasteless and gummy and all around not good. Can you be serious? This place is top notch if you adjust your expectations to the venue. In this location we have seen about four restaurants die in the last decade. Maybe more. Now that Asian C is here, we have quality sushi, a pretty nice buffet (which includes sushi), and a great, friendly staff. I've eaten here seven times. The peking duck is exceptional. The sushi is the best around unless you go into the city. The drinks are good and the prices are pretty reasonable. The best deal here really is the buffet, but don't be a bozo and give the place a one-star review because the buffet wasn't open when you decided to try the place. I was tempted to give it a five, but realistically you can find a little better Chinese food in Hanover at Bejing House. You can find similar buffets at places all around the South Shore. But I'm serious about the sushi. It is fresh and well-prepared. It will surprise you if you're used to seeing supermarket-level sushi at restaurants. read more

Despite having probably the best sushi at any lunch buffet in the area, and tasty, well-crafted entrees, I'm only giving Asian C two stars. Why? Because when an establishment advertises a buffet lasts until 2:30, but it stops replenishing items at 1:40, it's cheap and bordering on being a ripoff. Now, I'm not going so far as the latter, but, Asian C, if you don't like the idea of a buffet, stop doing it. Doing it badly does no one any good. It wastes customers' times and money, and it ruins your reputation. When we went, the customers had to request items for them to come out, and when they did, the portions were ridiculously small. We're not talking Peking duck or toro nigiri here. There were no Beijing raviolis, no wings, no crab rangoons. They just stopped putting them out. Typical replenishes, if and when they did come, consisted of 5 wings, a smatter of General Gau's-T'so's-Chow's-whatever chicken that would not cover a salad plate, and, and I'm not making this up, 2 peking raviolis. To ad insult to injury, the ravioli meat separated too easily from the wrapper, and the chicken had too much "wonder powder" and so was sticky and cloying. I'm not going to mention the sushi. It was good but not worth tempting anyone into going here just for it. Drive the extra five minutes down Rt. 53 for Beijing House. Or if you're north on 3A do Feng Shui. read more

I guess I'm just one of the mixed bag reviews of this place. I've been a few times over the last couple of years, and some of the food is pretty darn good (Crispy Pad Thai), most of it is very average (Chinese appetizers), and some is really lacking (Wonton soup... Tasted an awful lot like gummy, flavorless wontons floating in hot water. Ewwww.). I haven't yet come for the lunch buffet, but I'm guessing it's along the same lines as the standard Chinese fare. Haven't yet tried the sushi. They do get some points for serving tasty crispy Pad Thai, which is a bit more challenging to find in this area, but then they served it with icy cold peanut sauce! Weird. Anywho, good standby Asian restaurant on the South Shore, but not so much a standout. read more
