After waiting about 20 minutes on a hot day, I reached the counter to request the flavor of the day - cacao sorbet. I LOVE chocolate sorbet in general, as it tends to be rich and a touch bitter and not too sweet. The cacao sorbet here was more subtle and not as chocolatey-fabulous and others I've had, and I cook/bake with cacao so I know more or less what to expect. Unfortunately I made the mistake of requesting whipped cream on top. The cream was fine, but the ice cream artist applied twice as much Chantilly as there was sorbet, drowning it and throwing the flavor off balance. Oops. I just wanted a touch but was so surprised that I didn't stop her - plus I expected her to stop! I can't believe I'm complaining about too much whipped cream, but my expectations were higher. The service is efficient as the lines can be long. Ordered the famous flower with a macaroon in the center and the ice cream scoopers are precise and take pride in their creation. Each flower was consistent and identifiable (even though they may have felt rushed as the lines were long). the macaroon does get a little soft sitting atop the ice cream, so if you are a macaroon purist, you may want to opt out of it or ask for it on the side. The caramel salted gelato was one of the best we had on the trip. The melon was just like biting into a fresh and juicy cantalope. The coffee gelato tasted exactly like a flat white. Very impressed with the quality here!
