I say "essentials" but actually I mean: "random household gimmicks that suckers like me can't resist". It is a crazy shop, selling things like banana guards, mushroom bags and non-slip cupboard liners. You can even buy travel plugs, for when your hotel room sink is somewhat lacking. Mad stuff aside; they also sell some incredibly useful odds and ends, especially when it comes to home baking paraphernalia. The Solihull branch is the only one in the Birmingham area, making it something of a novelty. The Lakeland brand is built on solid quality customer service. They will never quibble when it comes to refunds or faulty items. The staff know the stock inside out. The Solihull store is spread over two floors - with kitchen-orientated stock on the ground floor and general home wares and gifts on the top.

As supermarkets go, it's pretty small,…read moreand you can't guarantee exactly what they will have in stock, so it is better as a place to wander around and see what you fancy than somewhere to set out with a shopping list. That said, they do have a good range of things, most of which are brands we don't usually see in this country. What they sell can be incredibly cheap, last time I got an avocado for 17p and and a mango for 20p, and they were both tasty enough and kept fine. One downside to this place is that the car park is small and there have been queues to get in. Also, they don't seem to have the trolleys that you can put your baby car seat in, so it's not quite as easy as some other supermarkets. But worth stopping by for a few cheap goodies.

Has magazines, books , homeware, electricals, DVD's , CD's a pharmacy, bakery, etc. There is a valet car cleaning service in the carpark.

And I believe it is the first place that I came across a banana beer. I know, a banana beer, what an idea. It's moments like that, when I stop and start to question just how far things have gone in the world of beer making. I mean i'm all for a wide range of beers, but what person in their right mind is going to sit and drink a beer made from bananas? Can you imagine, returning to your mates place with a couple of Banana beers? Imagine the looks you would get. Now, I know, if I was out and someone said, try this banana beer, I might say ooh, go on then, what's it taste like? Just for the sheer novelty of course, but you wouldn't want to get a name for that sort of thing. Granted, it's nice to have a choice when it comes to your bottled beers, but there is a line.
