In March, 2016, I purchased a nine year old gelding in Denmark. A Danish friend acted as my Agent…read more My Agent contacted Horses by Air to arrange transport to my home in California. Horses by Air owner picked up the horse at my Agent's barn and was to drive it to Amsterdam for the flight to Los Angeles.
According to the owner of Horses by Air, after about an hour into the journey to Amsterdam my horse started bucking and managed to climb over the front partition injuring himself and causing damage to the truck. (The prior owner emailed me that the horse had been shown extensively for five years and had been hauled in in every kind of horse transport, and there had never been a problem.)
At the time of this incident, the owner of Horses by Air called my Agent and told him that he, my Agent, needed to email a guarantee to pay for truck damages or else Horses by Air would not deliver my horse to Amsterdam as contracted. If the horse missed the flight to Los Angeles I would forfeit my already paid ticket. My Agent was thereby coerced by the owner of Horses by Air into emailing the demanded guarantee.
Horses by Air has sent me an email demanding DKK 20,000 for repairs to his truck. If I do not pay, he threatens to sue my Agent based on the extorted guarantee.
The owner of Horses by Air refuses to take any financial responsibility for injuries and vet bills to my horse but insists under threat of lawsuit that I and my Agent are financially liable for alleged damages to his equipment.
