My wife and I found a lawyer online who claimed to specialize in J-1 visas and had YouTube videos to back it up. We booked an appointment and I drove to his office in Sacramento. During the meeting, he assured me that my case had a 90% chance of being granted. However, before filing, he demanded that I pay the full amount, which was around $7,000. After I made the payment, he handed my case over to an amateur lawyer in Florida and disappeared. For three years, I called his office repeatedly, but they were extremely unprofessional and told me that the lawyer had two weeks to respond to my calls which he never did( it was absolutely a nightmare) . I never heard from him again, and my case was eventually denied after three years. The lawyer did not have the courtesy to call me about my case, and I fell prey to a scam artist. This lawyer should be investigated for his unethical practices. It is unacceptable to take someone's money and throw their case away without any communication. I am extremely disappointed and pessimistic about the entire experience.
