Visited Gong Cha on a Thursday afternoon and decided to pop-in for a pick-me-up. I ordered the Brown Sugar Earl Grey Milk Tea, which was priced at $6.70, and added in Pearl Boba for an additional $0.70. Ordering is entirely contactless which is typically my preference, however, I was surprised and a bit uncomfortable with the requirement to input personal information, including my phone number, just to make a purchase. Typically, customers can opt out of data collection when purchasing, but Gong Cha does not offer the customer this option. Following my purchase, they did text me twice asking me to complete a 10-question survey. To complete the survey, you're required to give them more personal info, including you email and first/last name. The Brown Sugar Earl Grey Milk Tea was delish. The sweetness was on-point the flavor profile was perfectly balanced. The tea had just the right amount of creaminess, making it smooth and satisfying without being too heavy. So excited to have a gong cha in LB! We've been a few times now and it has quickly become our fav boba place. When my boyfriend and I say "we want boba", we mean we want to go to this Gong Cha. The service is always super friendly and nice. The interior itself is a little small, which of course isn't anyone's fault, but definitely a squeeze when it gets busy! I like the kiosks for ordering, as well as an option to go to the counter. I've gotten the earl grey milk tea and the marble matcha, and my boyfriend has gotten the Thai iced tea and the limited strawberry cheesecake milk tea. My favorite is the earl grey--it is so good, and I appreciate how customizable the drinks are. The marble matcha was good, a little powdery/gritty, but still way better than any matcha latte I've ever gotten from a coffee shop. This location is next to an AMC theater. I have been watching movies in this location for more than a decade. I have seen businesses come and go from this same establishment location. Candy shop, Healthy smoothies and now an Asian Coffee joint! I am delighted to say, this business has an opportunity to stay here for a very long time. Asian Coffee establishment has many selections to choose from. Workers are friendly and also has a kiosk type of service you can order from. Very convenient. If you want smoothies other then Starbucks which is next door, this place is definitely a place to try out. Good location with plenty of parking. This business is very small but you can't miss it. Nice typical boba chain store with a wide selection of flavors and toppings, Gong Cha is conveniently located next to the movie theater so I could satisfy my boba craving after the movie. I was planning to get a drink before the movie, but then realized that I couldn't take outside drink into the theater. Everyone orders at the automated kiosk, which simplified the process. I was a bit hesitant to enter my cell phone number, but they promised not to send me spam and I haven't gotten any random text yet. The Earl Grey milk tea was fairly fragrant, and my son enjoyed his passion fruit tea with coconut jelly. Their boba was relatively small, and a bit too firm for me. Ordered the oolong milk tea, and it tasted just like milk. Got my drink replaced with a black milk tea only for it to taste the same. There were 2 baristas and the one I talked to about replacing my drink was super annoyed and didn't want the interaction to be happening in the first place. Matcha with Foam: This one was the absolute best and the boba was so soft. For matcha, it wasn't as bitter as I'm used to so if you like bitter matcha I probably wouldn't order this. It was sweet! Oolong Tea with Foam: This was the second best, so if you don't want something too sweet, I'd recommend it. Phone number to text when order is ready however it wasn't accurate we still waited like 10 minutes after it said our order was ready. Came here today for the opening and it was busy! Good turn out and glad there's finally a Gong Cha in Long Beach area! My go to drink is the Pearl Milk Tea! Is this not the smallest Bobba tea spot you have ever been to? I love how they dress this place out though. When you walk in, if you know what you are going to order just go for the kiosk. They have a menu above the counter as well. A bit expensive(in my opinion) for size and quality of drink. I had the oolong and it wasn't what I thought it be. The Thai tea on the other hand was better. The pearls are the way to go if you don't like your typical Bobba size. Also a bit on the slow size of service. Oh man, here I go again being the Boba party pooper with my irritating hard rating. But I just gotta be authentic. We attended the first day of their Grand Opening (I believe they had a few soft openings before then & were already serving the public). It was scheduled for 12pm, but no movement was going on in the growing line because they were waiting for the (clearly late) video-grapher (which TBH triggers me because one of my biggest pet peeves is lateness). A couple of representatives came out to the crowd to apologize for the lateness... He finally came & they had a ribbon cutting ceremony at about 12:20...or somewhere around there, then once that was done, the line finally started to move. It felt awkward too because as the line was moving, they were pulling people (kids, families) out of the line to include them in their PR, then visibly taking them inside for free drinks. It felt like an entertainment audition or a bouncer picking people out of the line & if you weren't pick, you just didn't have the vibes or the look to make the cut. LOL! Overall, we were in line for about an hour or so. Anyway, the promo said the first 200 guests would get a keychain but it turns out, it's the first 200 transactions--so that caused some confusion. I mean, be clear in your promotions. They also had a BOGO special on their top 6 drinks. The Milk Foam Coffee was good...strong...so be aware, but good. And the Brown Sugar Milktea was solid too. They have fruity drinks on the top drink choices too if you prefer those kinds of drinks as well. Oh, also, they have a digital kiosk to accept orders as well, but there's a sign that basically says, "if you're lazy to use these, then go ahead and go to the cashier". Lazy? That's a weird choice of words. Maybe someone just doesn't legitimately prefer this way of ordering. Anyway, on my most sensitive moments (I'm at that age that I don't frequently have these anymore :-D ) that might offend me. Also, a manager-type came out to scold the seemingly hard working cashier for not printing out a receipt for someone even though she had already called out that it wasn't printing. There was plenty of parking but the ones out front were reserved for Howard customers only. This location is pretty small, I remember it used to be a candy store before. There were limited tables inside but there's also tables outside as well. I like how this location has a self service kiosk to place your order.
