The front office experience has been the complete opposite. In my interactions, the office staff has been consistently rude and dismissive over the phone & in person. It genuinely feels as though they dislike their jobs, and that attitude shows in the way they treat families. It's really disappointing, because the doctors themselves are wonderful, but the atmosphere created by the front desk is incredibly frustrating.

The appointment was with Dr. Speigel at the Westlake office. I receive an email a few days before the appointment which stated that my daughter was to see a Dr. T (something). I have never heard of this doctor (apparently she is new). So, I called the office and they really could not tell me why they changed doctors and told be that Dr. Speigel was "Booked". They also let me know that the appointment was in the Moorpark office even though the email stated that it was in Westlake. I called them back and told them that my 18 year old daughter was upset with this change and Wendy, the office manager told me that Dr. Speigel could fit her in on Tuesday. After the call, I realized that the Tuesday date was two days shy of her previous physical last year, therefore the physical would probably not be covered by insurance. So the morning of the physical, I called Wendy asking her if we would be charged and she snapped at me to call my insurance. My daughter and I were furious because this appointment was made 2 months ago and she was leaving for college in days. I told Wendy that we would not be coming to her office again. I made my daughter an appointment with an adult doctor and she was seen before she left for college. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Dr. Speigel and Dr. Scheer, but thanks to Wendy, we are done.

Sometimes the wait time is a little long when you call. What I truly appreciate though is the staff are very caring and will always make time for their patients. Yesterday I took my son to the ER at 5am. Before the office even opened someone had read the report and called me with advice and to get us in same day for an appointment. Ashley the NP came up with a treatment protocol that none of the ER drs had even suggested. She has excellent bedside manner and is the only medical professional that my son has allowed to look in his ears. After a really stressful day I was so grateful for the team for taking the initiative to call me and get us ok the schedule. Thank you all so much!

My son got a baseball injury to his eye. We took him to urgent care the day of and we thought…read moreeverything was fine. The next day he was still struggling so I called the office. They got him in to see Dr. Melman the same day. Dr. Melman was very thorough and was concerned for a more serious injury. He sent us to the ER to get a CT scan. The ER doctor was brisk and dismissive and refused to do the scan. So we went home. The next day Dr. Melman called me directly and was not happy that the CT scan had not been done. He directed us to a pediatric ophthalmologist. Long story short, my son had an orbital fracture with muscle entrapment that required eye surgery at UCLA. It needed to be done in a timely manner to prevent permanent damage. Dr. Melman continued personally following up with us through the whole process of hospitalization, surgery, and afterwards. We will be forever grateful that he recognized the clinical signs, took it seriously, and followed up. If not for him, our son may have had permanent eye damage. I can't thank him enough!!

The other doctors here, and their pediatric nurse practitioner, are great as well - we've had to come in last minute when the kids are sick etc, and if Dr D'Andre is out, the other doctors and pediatric NP can help. It's so nice that they do this so your child can get help. I love that they're open Saturdays for a bit too. It's so, so nice. Why do kids always seem to get sick or have something happen right as the weekend starts? lol. So grateful I found this office and of course Dr. D'Andre. Fast forward 6 yrs later and his eczema is flaring up. Called this office just to see if I could get the prescription re written. It was an emergency and I called to see if it were possible. The receptionist has this tone--like my questions were obvious or stupid. Not a good look We don't need negative energy. Dr Andrew was great but this gal that answered the phone needs some sunshine. There are few western doctors that thoroughly take into account things like diet and lifestyle and Kawasaki always made me feel like her advice was sound and THOROUGH. She knows so much about all the things and stays current by reading a ton constantly...she's seriously always learning the latest news in children's health. Sadly we moved away and I am trying to find a new amazing doctor for my daughter. I can't find anyone that compares. Saw Dr. Gifford's great reviews but was worried I'd have to wait weeks as she's booked up in advance (deservedly so as she's amazing!) so I called yesterday morning at 10:15am, and by luck and the sweetness of the staff particularly the nice lady I spoke to whose name escapes me, they had a 10:30am cancellation and told me to come on in! Staff didn't want me to lose any visit time so they let me fill out the new patient forms after I met with her... Dr. Gifford took one look, new immediately what the problem was and went to work right away! She fixed me up, gave me recommendations for new shoes and I was on my way. I'm really grateful to her and her whole staff for seeing me on such short notice, God bless them! Thank you Dr. Gifford! You're the best!!

The office only discovered the error when an insurance claim was denied for being out of sequence, and then failed to inform me at that time. He waited until our next appointment to inform me of his mistake. In my opinion this represents negligence, a serious breach of trust, and unacceptable concealment of a medical error. Fast forward, my son was not gaining weight properly and his percentile was dropping at every single appointment, again, he was not concerned and thought I was being overly concerned. He never took me seriously and continuously brushed off my concerns and said he was fine. At every single appointment I brought up his weight and delayed milestones and he thought I was being dramatic is how he made it seem. We saw him from birth to 9 months and fast forward we moved out of state. Now, in a new state with a new pediatrician THE FIRST appointment she sent us to a specialist. At the first appointment the specialist diagnosed him failure to thrive and low muscle tone... something he will have to deal with forever. Had Bruckner taken the time to listen and properly diagnose him, we could have gotten ahead of the testing and physical therapy when he was a baby; rather than getting a late start now that he's 15 months old. I do not recommend him.

He was the pediatrician to check on my third baby minute after my son was born, and he treated him for 18 years. Through all those years Dr.Scherr was kind, friendly and professional. I wish everybody have the doctor who you can trust with the most valuable things you have: kids. And doctor Scherr is the one.
