However, when I reached out to Campanola from Georgia to make arrangements to transport my father's body back to Philadelphia Andrew could have not been more comforting in his words and coordinated the transportation of my dads body with the funeral home in Georgia with ease and great care which was comforting for my family. By the time I arrived to Philadelphia Andrew had taken care of everything and had all the information I needed to complete funeral arrangements. I will forever be grateful that Andrew went above and beyond to secure the military honor guard from New Jersey for dad as no one was available in Philadelphia. I was impressed with them obituary and prayer cards provided at the service which truly embodied who my dad was. In addition, the cost of the services were reasonable for which our family was grateful about given the additional cost of transporting the body and traveling from Georgia to Philadelphia were dad wanted to be buried. So, I want to say thank you to Campanola Funeral Home for coordinating the most memorable funeral service to honor a wonderful dad and husband. Thank you Andrew for making it possible, I will forever be grateful for your services and kind words during these difficult times. Sincerely, Evelyn Cintron and family.

Oakland Cemetery - Oakland Cemetery is an incredibly lovely place. Peaceful, too.

Oakland Cemetery

It is such a beautiful cemetery! They are non-sectarian, so anyone can be buried there. At the…read moremoment, the quoted lot price is $2,100 which, compared to other places, is a total steal for this hidden gem of a place. There are probably other fees there on top of the lot cost, so please call them and inquire. The cemetery is old, but nicely maintained. There is even wildlife walking around. On my two visits there I saw a beaver, a bunch of previously unseen birds, some rather bold squirrels, too. I go here to enjoy a quiet evening and to ponder Philadelphia's history through its deceased inhabitants. Thinking about the meaning of it all goes really well in this place. I like this place a lot. I wish I could work there. The management of the cemetery takes a rather unorthodox approach to marketing. They refuse to have a web presence. They don't want a website or social media, even when it is offered to them for free. I wonder if that will spell doom for this place sooner that it deserves.

Oakland is a very old cemetery right next to friends hospital. If you tour the graveyard you will…read moresee some plots that are over 100 years old. My family is buried there and for years the maintanence staff took very good care of it but things change over time. We had planted bushes as well as flowers that would reappear year after year & things were fine for decades but now for the sake of speed the gang mowers they use have wiped out the entire garden which we replanted and they mowed it over again. Talking with management the place is not doing well, they closed down their greenhouses and killed a decades old passion plant that was so beautiful that they had sold pieces that could be rooted and grow at your home. That was a sin. Everything today is on a steady decline and this graveyard can not escape it because the families who supported it are now buried there. Regardless it is worth considering for your loved one.

I wanted to take a moment to express my heart-felt gratitude to Vincent DeChristopher, of…read moreDeChristopher Memorials, for the genuine concern and sympathy he extended to my husband and I for our son's memorial stone. Sadly, our son passed away September 24, 2023. I had initially gone to the person who had taken care of my Dad's (parents) monument in 2012. I had taken the time, and a mother's love, to design our son's monument on a board. It took me some time to create "exactly" what I wanted. I took the board with me to show the person exactly I wanted, and needed my vision creatly perfectly, for our son. Not only did I feel no warmth at all, but he immediately grabbed his pad and pen, and he was charging for every little detail, like I was shopping for groceries. I looked at my husband, and told him I wanted to leave. Then, a few days later, a friend suggested I go see Vincent DeChristopher of DeChristopher Memorials in Broomall, Pa., not far from SS Peter and Paul Cemetery. The minute I walked in, I was met with sympathy, and genuine care and concern, for our loss. He did not rush me, and engaged in a conversation with me about our precious son. I knew then, I was where I needed to be. He welcomed my vision on my board, and took the time to show me the monument I wanted, etc. I felt very UNrushed. Not only was he not charging me like I was filling a shopping cart, but his stone was bigger than the other person's. He truly understood what I wanted for our son. I also expressed my timeframe, and the date i was hoping to have our son's memorial completed. I didn't realize it would take so long, and he said he'd do his very best to meet our date. Long story short, he did not fail my husband and I. Our son's stone was delivered, on time, and was exactly what I envisioned for our son. Actually, it was even more beautiful, than I had imagined it would look like in person. I cried sooooooooooo hard when my husband and I first saw it together at the cemetery. I am forever grateful to Vincent, and his family. There are some people in life who are doing exactly what they were meant to be doing. Vincent and his family are definitely those people. They genuinely care about their clients, and their loved ones who have passed.
