I do not have enough words of gratitude to express how my family feels about the team at Gleason's…read moreFuneral Home. We have unfortunately had the pleasure of being in their company on more than one occasion. But the two that are nearest and dearest to my heart are the passing of my father (4 years ago) and my mother, August 15, 2024. In both encounters, we were able to honor my parents as individuals and showcase who they were as people, loved by so many. Gleason's did not shy away from some of our specific requests, instead, they embraced the opportunity to help us honor our parents. We are grateful for the send-off we were able to give them both, and grateful for the care and compassion shown by Billy and the team at Gleason's. "Thank you" will never be enough...

The home is a nice home and it's spacious. The reason I give it 3 stars is bc the "business" itself was disorganized and their professionalism went out the door when I "paid them late". Their policy is half the amount now; the other half is due a month later. My mom passed in September and we paid them half the day of the services (aka my grandma paid them). In October we called 4 times to get the amount that was owed but each time no one was available and we had to leave messages. They called twice to leave messages but never included the amount that was due. So the holidays came up and I stopped trying to play phone tag - I figured eventually they will send a bill or call and give me an amount. Finally in March they call and I am surprised as this is the first of I heard from them in months. They leave a message and FINALLY leave the amount in the message. I tell my grandma and my aunt sends the check in the mail. The guy calls back the next day and I can answer so I do, and he starts threatening he's sending papers to his lawyer. I told him "give it a couple days bc it's in the mail". And then goes off to berate me about how it's "my responsibility" to pay him. Sorry you guys are only available at the establishment when you have funerals and it's impossible to reach you otherwise. I was flabbergasted at the way he spoke to me - I had every intention of paying we just literally had no one to discuss the matter with for nearly 6 months! And then they have the audacity to try and "lecture" me about my responsibilities. Maybe they should have office hours where they can answer questions for those they serve?

They made the most impossible time in our lives infinitely easier with exactly the right combination of skill, clear communication, compassion, and care. They were professional while also being completely human in our time of need. They catered to the needs of my sister's children with deep patience, grace, and love. I felt a wave of calm and comfort in their hands. They even helped us set up the room for her funeral and brought it to life with their own special touches and wealth of experience. Maryann held me every step of the way trying to coordinate things while I was in terrible pain. She is every good thing and your family will find itself in the most capable hands with Ruby Memorial. Every single person we interacted with there was truly exceptional. I will always think of them as a bright spot in an otherwise incredibly dark moment.

She was very pleasant to work with and very knowledgeable about the process. We flied in to NJ on a Sunday and our father was picked up and ready to go on Monday for us. After the viewing, we talked a little more and learned what to do next. Price was fair and up front. Cash and checks preferred, but they can take credit cards. They also helped us with obtaining certified copies of father's death certificate. Thank you Ruby Memorial for making life easy, especially so close to Thanksgiving during the pandemic. It is highly recommended for your local service.

The new owner (Dan) upon arrival said took us to where the casket was. This is where the disappointment started, the casket was supposed to be closed (as he admitted to knowing) but when we walked in it was open, when we asked him to close it he said he "wanted us to see her to make sure it was her" and wouldn't close it until my parents arrived and told him to. We then had no procession to the church. At the end of the service at the church when him and his wife were moving the casket he yelled at his wife in-front of the whole church. We then went outside where we thought we would have a procession to the cemetery, we were wrong again. Everyone had to get their own directions and a few of us got lost. This funeral home under this ownership is disorganized, has a lack of staff to run a funeral, and did nothing but tell us what he thought should of been done.
