An ancient hotel in Dinkelsbuhl -- very historic and right in the middle of town. Highly recommended.

Wow what a great hotel in Dinkelsbuehl. For less than 100 euro, you get a large (40 sq m I think)…read moresuite with a bedroom, kitchenette, living room and bathroom. Even though the building has the historic style, the interior is quite modern. The hotel is right in the center of Dinkelsbuehl, right across from the cathedral. Definitely a good place to stay as you explore the area. If you drive, you'll need to park on the street. The breakfast is quite decent and located across the street. The selection is fine although not that big. The bread though is great!! Slightly different than what you get in the rest of Germany. Definitely need to come back for a longer stay and for checking out the rest of the area

There's lots of attention to small details in this historic inn with magazines and books and games available to guests and a relaxing and beautiful back patio area situated in lush greenery. We were able to park our car easily in the hotel's own back courtyard parking area. Our room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was generously sized. After a month of staying in branded hotels, the Goldenes Lamm was so very appreciated for its homey touches and welcoming atmosphere.

The building is quite old, as is the whole town, but the rooms are up to modern standards. Our room had a nice big bed, small couch, desk and the bathroom was huge! Two sinks, a tub that could fit two and a shower stall. The bathroom was just as big as the bedroom! I guess this is why the hotel is rated as a 4-star hotel on booking.com. Breakfast was included during our stay and is served in the ground floor parlor. The ambience of the entire hotel is "old" in a historical kind of way. Pretty cool. The hotel covers three floor and is accessible by stairs and a small elevator. A nice convenience feature in an old building.

We were extremely disappointed as the photos showed a very nice hotel and we looked forward to it. We were given room at the Eisenhut building across from the main hotel, clearly a lower tier accommodation. The pictures speak for themselves. Be aware, if you book a room and make sure to ask if it is in 4 Herngasse, which is across from the main hotel and not what is pictured on their website. They don't post those pictures for a reason. Very disappointed with the misrepresentation.

Much of the wine-list comes from the family's own label. You'll find the usual fare on the menu, of course--Wiener Schnitzel, Zwiebelrostbraten, and such, all excellent--but also some nicely thought-out variety: lamb and Stilton Maultasche, curried chicken breast with fruit, for example. My husband loved the Berlin-style liver. Our room had been renovated recently, and was comfy in a modest 3-star way. It included a safe: for leisure travellers from abroad, travelling with laptops and gadgets, this inclusion is deceptively useful. And the Glocke's garage, in this mediaeval town with narrow streets and no parking, is a godsend.

Hard to imagine that this counts as a 4 Star, but do keep in mind that ratings in Europe are different. I'd put it at a 3 Star without doubt. Design: the exterior neoclassical design is quite nice, it is cozy, inviting and at the same time, elegant. Probably the best part about the hotel. The lobby is small and simple, as one would expect for a hotel in this range. The room design was also quite a simple one and was a bit cramped, but modern and nice which is contrasting to many hotels in Rothenburg that show their age and lack of upkeep. Service: at check in, they were very direct as people appear to be all around Germany. Basically, straight to the point, no chatter. The lady was kind to walk us to the room. Comfort: the room bedding was again about what one would expect, not particularly comfortable, but bearable. There is no air conditioning, which can get annoying depending on the weather. Coffee maker did not work despite many attempts. Parking is very limited. Shower was nice and hot. Overall impression, I'd stay here again as options are pretty slim in Rothenburg. However, it does have improvement areas and this design is much nicer than the old hotels around town.

I did not know what to expect when driving into town, but I was more than blown away when we arrived! I felt like a princess on the third floor. The walls are not too thin as well, so you don't hear what's going on in the next room over, which is always a plus. Also, service is lovely here.
