Their customer service was great and always had answers for me. The turn around time was a bit long and I'm not sure if that actually had to do with the process. I do wish they would have set expectations a little better with me on what the final product was going to look like because the example I saw and what I got was not the same. Once I stretched the hide and trimmed it I was ok with what we got. Not sure I would do it again with my cows but we will see. read more

AVOID Golden State Tannery at all cost! I dropped off 12 capes for prep-work and their 2 week wet tan service. What I got back in FIVE weeks instead of 2 weeks as advertised were hairless, Swiss cheese, useless capes. Customer service is non-existent and no resolution except blaming me for dropping off 12 rotten capes. That was my first and last experience with Golden State Tannery. read more

I sent the hide from my first hunt, a Texas four horn, to Golden State Tannery, delivered on 9/26/13. I called prior to sending it, and was told I could freeze it and send it one day and it would be fine. I called them on the 26th and left a message stating my hide showed delivered, and that I wanted to make sure they had it and there were no problems. I never got a return call, and my subsequent calls were never answered. I got a phone call on 10/15/13 (which happened to be my birthday), and the lady said that my hide would not make it through the tanning process because it was not salted or dried. The lady said they had just opened the package....nearly three weeks after receiving it. She blamed me for not salting it, and didn't seem to care that I followed their instructions. Apparently it was my fault that I did not write "Frozen" on the package, and thus they didn't feel the need to even open the package. She did not acknowledge, or have any answer to the fact that I made multiple calls and left messages. I would highly recommend finding another tannery. They have lost any future business from me, and any business I would have sent them. As well as my friend who had used them in the past. read more

My son went on his first deer hunt and we took our skin to Golden State Tannery and the people in the office were friendly and answered all my questions and how to prepare my skins better for next time. When after 3 months or so I got my son's deer skin I was amazed how beautiful and soft it was. I am not a taxidermist but I am very pleased with what I got!!! Thank YOU Golden State Tannery..
