I would not recommend Jarica Cairns as a Guardian ad Litem…read more I waited years to write this. She is no longer involved in our case, and enough time has passed that this is no longer a question of opinion. It is a question of what happened. My issue was never that she questioned me. A Guardian ad Litem should question both parents. My issue is that her assessment rested on a prediction about the mother I would become, and the prediction was wrong. Their father and I were together about nine years. I had always been the children's primary caregiver and had left my career to stay home and raise them. Our separation happened during an extremely serious situation involving allegations concerning one of our children, with DCF involvement, a forensic interview, law enforcement and a criminal investigation. I was advised to leave our home with the children. I moved in with family in Pinellas County and started over with nothing. Through all of it, I facilitated my children's relationship with their father. Phone calls. Supervised visitation. Driving back and forth. Schedule changes, extra time, extended visits. There was even an occasion when court intervention was required to have the children returned to me during my own parenting time. As I understood her assessment, none of that mattered, because I believed my child. Her recommendation gave their father roughly 70 to 80 percent of the parenting time and would have moved the children from a school rated around an 8 on GreatSchools to one rated around a 2. Facing that, I agreed at mediation to give up more than $28,000 in accumulated child support in order to reach 50/50. I was on Medicaid and food assistance at the time. I had put my savings and my retirement into that family. I gave up the money because equal time with my children was worth more than any amount of it. I also agreed to his terms for what that 50/50 would look like. I had the children through the school week. He had the weekends and the summers. I got one weekend a month and two weeks of the summer. I carried the school year, the mornings, the homework, the supplies, the clothes, the appointments and the meals, and saw almost none of my children's time off. I accepted that for two years so they could stay in their A rated elementary school. They were not happy about never having a day off with me. Neither was I. But the alternative was moving them to a worse school in order to see more of them, and that was not a trade I was willing to make. So I gave myself a deadline. I had until middle school to rebuild my career far enough to move within ten miles of their father and get my children into the best school I could. I did it. Here is what the years have shown. I maintained 50/50. I kept my children close to their father and made them available to him consistently. They attend an A rated school about ten miles from his home. I rebuilt my career and am now a Vice President of Marketing and Operations, and I have supported my children without receiving child support. What I believe about my child never changed. Not once did it stop me from supporting their relationship with their father. I gave up the money, the calendar and years of my time with my own children to protect that relationship and their education, and I have never asked for credit for any of it until now. Every concern in that recommendation was about what I might someday do. I have now had years to do it, and I did the opposite. A Guardian ad Litem decides where children sleep, where they go to school, and how much of their childhood each parent gets. That is an extraordinary amount of power to exercise on the basis of an assumption. Any parent facing an appointment should understand that the record you build may matter less than the story someone has already decided to tell about you. Mine did not match. I would not recommend her.

i was charged 4000 by this team for a paternity case I trusted them while they did nothing for me…read moreover the corse of 1 year they did not do anything they said they would do such as establish paternity, child support and visitation. They said whatever would be important to collect retainer payment and did nothing for me in my case, they weren't even involved in the 1 zoom apearance mediation they let the mediator do everything and even made them do their paper work. The consultation experience was great and they act like they care, be very cautious. all of their google reviews are from family and employees you can tell that most of their reviews are fraudulent and from family members. i was completely ripped off and screwed over by this group of artists.

I have so many things I could say about this deplorable attorney. Her first method of litigation is…read moreto send her emails to the opposing counsel and their client; in her infinite attempt to intimidate women. She only serves one purpose in the courts, to be as brash, rude, and argumentative in every scenario with the other individuals that are divorcing her client(s). In my case, she represented her client that lied continually to the courts and she backed every lie like it was factual. Then she WROTE the entire timeshare orders for my infant daughter; and WROTE the equitable distribution; claiming my attorney wasn't available to review what she wrote. And court records would show, it was right before Christmas and my attorney wrote a letter to the courts stating the time of unavailability. She disregarded that court document; sent only her version to judge Cynthia Newton- who then quickly signed off on it- later state she wasn't aware of anything/everything Ms. Sandvoss had done. And my toddler was assigned a 24 hour right of first refusal with a father who works the overnight shift. Bravo Ms. Sandvoss; you really don't care about the children you are Court ordered to honor their best interests- you have taken an oath to serve and protect. As you screamed at me during your closing arguments for a mother of a newborn who was not given ONE CASH DOLLAR in child support by your client during the divorce process "Get your head out of the sand and get a job!!". Hmmm I'm pretty sure that's impossible, when I've received no child support to allow for gas, and other necessary means to find a job and acquire a daycare. One day, many more truths behind your actions will certainly come to light.
