Another beautiful day in Gold Medal Park. Saturdays are a good day to come to the park since the farmers market is open next door.

My friends and I attended the Red, White and Boom Fourth of July event at Gold Medal Park on the Downtown Minneapolis Riverfront and enjoyed an awesome array of Fourth of July entertainment that will forever be ingrained in my memory! We partook in various activities including pickleball in the parkway, shopping at Minneapolis Park Market, and and evening Zumba dance sessions! The finale fireworks at 10 pm was stunning. Thank you Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board for hosting this phenomenal event at the lovely Gold Medal Park over the scenic Mississippi river and the Stone Arch Bridge. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful park in Minneapolis, Minnesota to experience such an awesome event on Fourth of July!

Another great park in the downtown area with few sculptures. People were having picnic or just relaxing in this park. The highlight is the hill that's in the middle of this park. The hill offers a paved walk up to the top which offers a great view of the city, and the rivers. Enjoy this great green space

I have always admired Gold Medal Park but during the Pandemic this park has become even more of a gem. Its so well kept and accessible. There are so many activities going on all the time. From the early morning yoga classes to the afternoon HIIT classes, kids and dogs running to their heart's content, picnic gatherings and casual walking groups, this park is a haven for all. So glad to be able to enjoy it and appreciate the joy it brings.

I ate dinner at a bench at Gold Medal Park this evening. It has some nice walking and running trails that I will be utilizing while I'm in town. The park also has a cool urban feel which I appreciated. If you're looking for a place to chill with you're family for a few, you should check out this park.

The view from the park's 32 foot spiral mound walkway offers panoramic views of the Guthrie Theatre and the downtown skyline.

An excellent urban park in the heart of the Mill District/Downtown East neighborhood of Minneapolis! Open since 2007, this dynamic 7.5 acre space named after the Gold Medal Flour brand is popular year-round and is great for picnics, running, dog walking and just plain relaxing. One of the best things about Minneapolis is its robust park system and Gold Medal is the epitome of the community's recent commitment to green space and the arts. Between 2015-2017, four sculptures previously located in the Walker Art Center's Sculpture Garden were relocated to the park. Its focal point is a 32-foot-high mound by a lit, spiral walkway that offers panoramic views of the nearby Guthrie Theatre, downtown, Mill Ruins Park, the Stone Arch Bridge, St. Anthony Main neighborhood and the University of Minnesota campus. It's always clean and well-lit and connects to many local attractions and trail systems including the Dinkytown Greenway and the Mississippi River. I haven't yet seen the park active in the summertime, but I can't wait to see the food trucks and bike share activity that apparently takes place during the warmer months.

One of the things I love about the Twin Cities is that there is such beauty dispersed in these little pockets around the busy downtown district. This park is situated across from Saint Anthony Main overlooking the Mississippi River and is right next to the Guthrie Theater. There are various works of art located here and a wonderful spiral path that takes you to the top of the hill so you can take in the gorgeous view. Grab an ice cream from Izzy's across the street and spend some time here.

Gold Medal Park is located right next door to the Guthrie Theater. I managed to get out one day and go for a walk along the path that leads one to the summit of the park - which affords a nice view of the surrounding area. Good place to get a little exercise, some fresh air, and some sunshine!

    Grace H.

I like jogging by in the late afternoon after work. There's some nice condos and Izzy's ice cream nearby if I ever want a treat. The Guthrie theater is also nearby along with some neat shops and restaurants. After running through the park I like to go enjoy the view along the Stone Arch Bridge. Oh yea and viewing fireworks from the top of the hill is pretty legit.

Beautiful park! Clean, maintained and surrounded by interesting architecture. Wow! We love Minnesota.

Unique park with a large hill in the middle with a concrete circle path that wraps around it. The coolest thing is that you can see this park from the Guthrie theater's viewing rooms and the day I went a guy had written in chalk on the sidewalk that warps around the hill ""Will you marry me?". Awe! How romantic is that! Great idea whoever you are, I hope she said yes! If you want to make a day of it, visit this park, the mill city ruins park which is basically connected by a path and walk the stone arch bridge. And if your not too tired then go scope out the views from the Guthrie. Great place to get some fresh air and enjoy the waterfront area.

View from the top of the hill.

This is a great spot to check out if you are in Minneapolis!! Great views of the Mississippi River and downtown Minneapolis, right next to the Guthrie Theater. It's actually super-awesome at nighttime, too. Just watch out for the mosquitos!!

Come here for a great view of the city skyline at the top of the hill. Not much of a view of the river, but well maintained grass.

It spans 34 acres and is named after Charles Loring, an American businessman, miller and publicist who was the first Minneapolis Park Board and considered the "Father of the Park System" in Minneapolis. The park has an astounding flower garden. It was very pretty. You will also find a very nice lake/wetland here. It has seating and is very soothing. The lake is home to many animals. Fishing is welcome at the lake. They even have a fishing pier. The park has a full basketball court and a half-court basketball court that are in great shape. The park's horseshoe pits could use some TLC, though. The park is home to about 10 pits. If you are a pickleball player, then the park has a couple of nice courts to play on. Other park amenities include tennis courts, shuffleboard, and two playground areas on wood-chip beds. One area is fenced in and is for smaller children. This area has a bank of swings, a saucer swing, slides, a modern merry-go-round, a bebble bridge, and a jungle gym. The other playground area, for older kids, has a climbing net, balance beam, slides, pebble bridge, and rock climbing wall. This area is not fenced in. I have seen a lot of parks, and this is a nice one. They host events such as movie screenings, ice skating, and lunchtime concerts. You can easily spend half a day here. I really enjoyed my time here and am sure that you will too.

I'm new to discovering The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Regional Park, but believe me when I say I'll be back many more time. In the winter, they offer cross-country skiing and lessons. (You can rent a full set of gear for about $30- no need to have your own to experience skiing! They also have à la carte options for cheaper if you only need poles or boots, etc.) Besides skiing, outdoor winter activities also include snow tubing, snowboarding, snowshoeing.... You name it. (I haven't been in fall or summer yet, but I also hear great things about their mountain biking and trail running options.) Inside The Trailhead, there's food and drink concessions, ample seating, lockers, bathrooms, and even rooms for rent. The last time I was there, a family was hosting a young child's birthday party in the multi-purpose room. Altogether, there is an amazing assortment of services here to come and check out.
