The main aim of the Goethe Institut is to promote German culture around the world. As such its main target group are non-Germans curious to learn more about the country's language, literature, music, etc. But it obviously also has a lot to offer for expat Germans who like to keep up with contemporary culture in their native country. Considering its great location and impressive programme I have greatly underutilised the services on offer. My last visit was to attend a screening of cutting edge digital films. While several were made by German artists, the bill was very mixed and of appeal to anyone interested in the latest developments in digital filmmaking. The auditorium was perfect for the occasion, like a mini cinema. I will read the programmes even more carefully now to make sure I don't miss any similar gems. read more

The libarary is well equipped and the German courses are supposed to be very good. As language teacher in the UK I enjoyed the offers that the Goethe insitut has for class trips and personal further education. It is easy to meet new people in order to exchange experiences or simply help other practice their German. I have attended several courses and seminars at this location and have been happy with all of them. The library is so well stocked that you could spent a whole week in there without being bored. Great place to learn a language and a lot more! read more

I am very unhappy with how this org has handled themselves with my ADD and grandfathers funeral. When I first took their course and addressed my issues with the teacher the response was "this is the pace we teach out." I wrote to them and then came and spoke to them in-person and they reassured me that their teachers can work with my learning disability and I should try a less intensive course; even though I pushed that this school probably wasn't the right fit. I then had to go to the states for my grandfathers funeral and missed Monday. I tried calling and emailing and didn't get a response until Thursday, by then I had missed the Wed course and now am 2 classes behind. They said their policy doesn't allow for me to start a new course, and to come the next Monday and try to catch up online. They said they take ADD very seriously; however I don't feel they understand that with ADD classroom teaching is better than online. I feel they don't understand the severity of what a learning disability is. I want to start the course from the beginning given my learning disability and yet they say their policy doesn't allow for me to transfer. My perspective is that they are being discriminating towards my learning disability, just in it for the money, and quote policy when it works for you all. Very unhappy. read more

I have also studied several courses at the Goethe Institute; the tuition there is second to none. The tutors are highly trained and put a lot of preparation into their classes to ensure you receive the right combination of teaching, exercises, listening, speaking, reading, writing etc. They make you do a test before you can enrole on a course which ensures that the level of the students in the class is correct; this helps because you learn faster if you are similar abilities. read more
