Run People ... and never sign a contract…read more
When I moved to Frankfurt am Main I googled some Internet providers and decided OK let's call Telekom. After listening to music for 10 mins they finally connected me to someone and all I wanted was some information because their offer was unclear (first 6 months you pay x money then it becomes double and once you pay €100 for the router but then they give you back €200 but then again you have to pay €150 which they will send you back etc.). The person I was speaking with was very very unpleasant and had an attitude of someone who is paid per signed contracts, so he did not explain any of my questions and rather kept pushing me to agree so that he can start the contract. I have worked in similar positions so I kept my cool and decided to be nice, but when I said that I want to check other offers and I want to discuss it with my flatmates he said '' Wow, so you can't make even one simple decision by yourself. That is sad'' and hung up. (And we are talking about a 24 Month contract x €45)
Till the end of the day, I realized that sadly only Vodafone has the availability at my address and we had no other choice, but to proceed with them.
When I called again, someone picked up and was quite happy to hear that we want internet and the deal was done. I was told to wait for someone to call me so that we can arrange an appointment for the technician to come and install the router. two days later I got a call, but the earliest they could come was after 4 WEEKS. But OK, I understand.
4 weeks later we were very excited, that today is the day we are going to finally have internet at home. I had to take a day off (since I was told to expect someone from 8 am until 5 pm, which is a whole working day), but I was happy to do so. Around 2, a guy knocked and I let him in, but in 5 mins he said that there are no cables and left without giving me any information.
After calling every number of the company I managed to find on the Internet (from a Coffe place) and spending literally 3 hours, someone explained to me (or that is what I understood) that there are different types of cables and they were thinking that my apartment has the DSL ones, but it does not and I have to wait for an email and schedule another day with the people who are responsible for those DSL cables.
Of course, the first possible appointment was 5 weeks from the day I got that email (and again I had to take a day off because I was supposed to expect them from 8 am till 5 pm)
So finally 2 months after I first called the day finally came and ... no one came. Whole day waiting and waiting and no one. At 4:30 I gave up and called (again 1 hour till I get to the person that can actually explain to me why ...) and I was told that I have just requested an appointment, but they have not actually approved it. And the interesting thing is that some other company is responsible for those DSL cables and they have UP TO 10 WEEKS TIME TO DECIDE IF THEY WILL PUT THOSE CABLES OR NOT. So my only option was to wait for another 5 weeks and then to call and hope that this other company has said yes and then to schedule another appointment, so another 5 weeks ( and that only if they have said yes)
So in 2020 my only option was to lose 5 hours calling and asking some very unhappy employees for some information and hopefully (because it is not 100% sure) in 20 weeks from the day I started the contract I was going to have Internet.
I decided I never want to have anything to do with this company and I can not wait another couple of weeks to eventually have Internet in the far future so I decided to cancel it and if we have to, we will change the apartment.
And then is when the actual HELL started.
If it is possible to start a contract in 5 minutes by giving your card details, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL IT.
I heard everything. From '' I am sorry, but you have to pay the whole 24 Months if you want to cancel'' to ''You have to send a Fax'' (a fax people and email or physical letter per post are not an option)
So a month after I still have not gotten an official conformation and I still am not sure that the contract has been canceled.
