Johnny's Barber Shop

I wish I found out about Johnny's long before I did. I've been recommending them ever since…read more Johnny's is a family barber and you can frequently see moms waiting with their kids or dads bringing them along. It's safe and friendly in a way the whole country was many years ago. G-Rated, family-friendly TV, reading material and conversation. You'll be greeted by a group of friendly barbers who don't just cut your hair - everyone gets the hot towel treatment, their neck shaved with hot lather and a straight razor and a shoulder massage done with an electric hand-held massager - all included in the price of your haircut. There is coffee and sweets while you wait. The prices are posted. All the barbers do a great job. The wait can be long if you're waiting for a particular person so most people go to whoever is open when their turn comes. If your really pressed for time you can ask them to skip the message. They want what you want. If you hate going to get your hair cut, do yourself a favor and give Johnny's a try. You'll be back. What's my favorite thing about the place outside of Johnny himself? The Lime-sec he uses to freshen me up. I love that smell and for people like me, the products they use on you are also available for sale. UPDATE 1/29/17 - While Johnny's online presence indicates he's closed today, a Sunday, he is indeed open. Why is that? Johnny has decided to close his shop on Saturdays (I'll give you a moment to read that again.) The Johnny's where a Saturday would find 4-5 barbers and a packed waiting area is now closed on that day and open from 7:30AM to Noon on Sunday. I arrived today at 7:31AM to find only Johnny and another barber, each with a person in their chair, with 3 others waiting. Not good. It takes Johnny himself about 45 minutes on average to complete a person - and that's not for a scissor cut. Not wanting to be here for hours I went with the other barber. Even though she isn't usually one of my top picks she does a good job and is quicker than the rest. Closing on Saturday, in my mind equals a lost star.

My barber for 14 years has closed its doors for good after the corona virus pandemic. My hair was…read morevery very long and I now had to find a new place to cut my hair so I look presentable. I dreaded looking for a new barber shop. Well I am happy to say this place is fantastic. Great skill and warm and friendly. It feels like I have been coming here for years on my first day. What a great place. Clean, spacious and well run. I will be coming here as long as I have hair on my head. Thanks for being amazing, you have a new loyal customer. Well done guys.

I have been coming here for over a year now exactly. I moved to Newburgh after living in Boston for…read morethe Last seven years. Like many I had my barbershop and the dear and horror of having to find a new barbershop is not something I wish upon anyone, but so Is my burden to bear. The first week I lived in newburgh I realized there are barbershops almost evert block to half a block up And down Broadway. I stopped at 2 other barbershops that after a sub part cut, not such a friendly atmosphere, and a disgustingly inflated place of $23 just for a cut, I kept looking. I came down Broadway to see this place and so glad I found it. Los Barbaros is a relatively large space that has free private parking and street parking. The barber's themselves are all amazing. haircuts range from $5-$18 and they can go up depending if you want designs, etc. The straight razors are sharp, line ups are crisp and I can honestly say not once have I ever felt that I was rushed in and out of the seat. They are all predominantly Spanish speakers but speak English as well. The shop was renovated so it's clean, inviting and not a misogonist haven. They are child and female friendly so if you need a cut while in Newburgh, do yourself a favor and stop on get a cut. They are kid friendly as well so it can be a family affair.
