I was a little taken back that the two guys working here didn't wear masks.. I'll think twice before I go back in!

The guy who works here is very knowledgable in his products but that also makes him a pushy salesman. If you pick his brain regarding various products you are interested in and then come up with your own decision on what to purchase you will walk out content. This store is smaller than other locations packed with many essentials but may be missing a few speciality items you find at other locations. If you become a Gold Card member, the first week of every month you receive an additional 20% off your purchase... in addition to the great sales they usually have. My friend recommend vitamins to me, which she got from GNC. I decided to check this one out. When I walked into the store, the employee, Nick, was with a customer. He didn't acknowledge me at all. Usually establishments, even if they're with a customer, say "Welcome to (wherever). I'll be right with you." Even after the customer left, it took Nick about a minute to even ask if I needed something. Poor customer service!! I will not be returning to this store. read more

There's a guy out on Garnet a few times a week holding up a "Today Only Sale" Sign. First sign of a shady business. False advertising. Then if you do walk in you got a poor overpriced product selection with pushy salesmen. Plenty of better options in San Diego. read more

My trip here to pick up a Blender Bottle turned out to be one of the most annoying sales experiences of my life. From the moment I walked in to the moment I signed my credit card, I was being sold to, upsold, pitched to, you name it. It was like going to a used car lot that has a projector screen featuring infomercials on loop. Just awful. All I wanted was a blender bottle, but the sales rep kept on pushing a lot of other products including protein shakes, calcium chews, you name it. He even tried to get me to buy a blender with a bottle attached that cost 3xs more, under the guise that it was a good deal. Good lord, my ears are exhausted. I just want a bottle! Just one bottle! Not 2 bottles for 1/2 off the second. Not 3 protein bars for a $3 discount off my bottle. Does my 5'3" Asian female frame really need a container of protein powder the size of a bulldog? After about 7 minutes, I walked out feeling like I should be on a plane to my tropical time share. (Isn't that supposed to happen after you listen to an intense sales pitch?) In sum: I gave it an extra star because the blender bottles were on sale, and you could get $2 off. So that was nice. But on the other hand, if my student-self wasn't thinking I could use that $2 to buy a pack of ramen (aka student dinner), I wouldn't have subjected myself to an exhausting, fake monologue of salesman verbal diarrhea. read more

I stopped in here to get some Melatonin to help me sleep and had a great experience. Joe was amazing and so so helpful! He was extremely knowledgable with all products in the store and not pushy in any way. I ended up going back the twice within a week to try a few new products that I love! Joe was friendly, always in a great mood, and I really felt he knew his stuff which made me feel more inclined to buy. Overall- great store and will continue to go back for all my vitamins and supplements! Also- Gold cards really are a great deal and already have made back what I paid for one just in the first week on savings! read more

Expensive expensive expensive! These guys will rip you off just like any other GNC store. Joe is a good salesman & super knowledgeable, but Joe (last time I was there) is unfit and claims he takes all of the shit that he's trying to sell you... Oh really bro you take that fat burner? Because all you've got is a huge gut hanging over your waistband and no muscle, c'mon bro!! You have to give it to the guy though, he is friendly and will answer any technical questions regarding the make-up/content of their products.. Their manager, on the other hand, is the worst customer service representative I have ever come across. No eye contact when entering the facility, a weak and an unenthusiastic hello, a shit pitch at the counter.. I know you don't have to be a Harvard graduate to run a place like this, but god damn he is under qualified. If you're thinking of going here, don't. You San Diegans don't have Wholesale Nutrition stores yet, but once they open their Southern locations, that's the place you need to go to. Avoid. read more

Went in for an energy bar while waiting for FedEx next door to finish a printing job. Got to the counter gave the bar to the "bro" behind it and tried to pay for it. He asks if I have a GNC card. No, I'd just like to pay for this. Would you like to sign-up for one? You can save 20%. No, thanks (The price of the bar is $3.49. The $0.70 savings don't sound that attractive). Can I get your name and phone number? I just need to pay, I'm in a hurry. Don't worry "buddy". Your phone number? I give it (false one, of course) and add I just want to pay, I'm in a hurry. Yes, no problem "buddy" (again). Can I get your name? I leave the bar on the counter, turn around and walk out. Promising myself I will never go in there again. This amazing experience lasted over 20 minutes. I just wanted an energy bar!!!! I'm sure the laid-back meathead-type "bro" meant no harm. He was only doing what his bosses have asked from him and I am sure they get some type of commission for getting those names and phone numbers. But come on, have some common sense! If I am telling you I am in a hurry and just want to pay for the $3.49 bar and leave, don't insist on recruiting me as a receptacle of your company's marketing efforts, show a minimum of respect for the customer. Anyway, all they achieved was to lose me as a customer forever; and guess what, the juice place next door sells some amazing energy bars and will just smile and let you pay for it. I have visited this shop multiple times. And although most GNCs carry the same products, this store always has my supplements and bars in endless supply. One of the consultants, Vincent, has been amazing every time I visit. He doesn't try to upsell or oversell me at all. He recommends great items to help and couldn't be more friendly. I wish I could say this about all the GNCs I have visited, but Vincent is by far the best and most memorable in a great way. read more

I've been visiting vitamin stores both in and out of California for about two years now, and though I rarely write reviews I felt this place was noteworthy. The sales associates were gregarious and infinitely more helpful and personable than online forums, yes you can find something that applies generally to you on the internet but it's just not the same as a sales person asking questions about your lifestyle and pointing out products best suited to help you reach your goals. I recommend checking this store out specifically, I don't think you'll regret it. read more

I hate this place. The sales guys jump on you the second you walk in the store. They talk your ear off and try to push you around. The prices are also ridiculously high. I hate that they try to force you into a membership just to get a price that is somewhat comparable to online prices. Luckily it's only a matter of time before this old fashioned, up-selling, box store goes out of business as it cannot compete with online retailers. read more

GNC in Pacific Beach...meh!!!! I was sick of my protein powder bought the costco size at costco and there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. I hate chocolate flavor now. Ok now back to GNC, so I stopped by and asked the guy which protein he recommended for a girl, that also tasted good. I felt like he was really pushy on the GNC brand products. I was very close to buying it even though I was expensive for a small bag. I decided to go with another brand, and the other guy that works there ....as I am taking out my wallet tells me that the protein I am buying is going to make me bulky....eventhough I read the label and have heard great things about my choice. I had to tell them to hold on because my Acai bowl was waiting for me next door (BIG SQUEEZE 25 STARS AWESOME). So I come back he convinced me buy the tiny overpriced GNC bag, amino acids, and some other supplement. It was going $90 but I was excited because I was supposed to get 20%.....or so I thought....they didn't honor my gold card!!!! They said it was valid only in the corporate stores. In the end I said "BEEEP" that and left with nothing....I drove to Hilcrest and had awesome experience. OVERALL, super pushy, biased, made me feel dumb and second guess my choices and really just shady. No bueno :( read more

i hate going into these kinds of places, its always kind of intimidating, but i was in a pinch and didn't have time to order my powder online. i went in, and yes it is a small store, but looks like they have a lil of everything. i waited for the guy to finish up helping the other customer and he helped find my product, after he asked me why and how i used it he suggested some other ones, of course they were all more $$$ than the one i had originally picked but i found one that wasn't too much and always down for something different. he was riht it was great. he was super helpful and didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all, sometimes you feel like they are just sizing you up from the min you walk in, not the case here. read more
