I was recently admitted to Howard County General Hospital for something that I had no idea of what…read morewas going on with my body. The entire staff was exceptional and caring. The nurses even smelled good. The doctors did not mind me contacting my niece to listen in on the conversations that they were having with me. Prior to going to Howard County General Hospital, I saw an NP, because my primary care physician was not available that day. The NP took a picture of what was on my skin and ordered lab work. Within the next 24 hours my condition worsened. Therefore, I went to GBMC. The wait was so long that I left. I must say that they did do lab tests. While driving home the on called doctor called and informed me to go to the hospital ER, because my platelets were at a 1. She recommended Howard County General Hospital. The wait in the ER was not long. I was admitted and was given a room within an hour. I must say that I was skeptical about to Howard County General Hospital, because that is the place where my husband was admitted and died there a short time later after having surgery. I am grateful that they were able to diagnose and treat my condition. Thanks to the marvelous staff at Howard County General Hospital. I truly believe that they saved my life. May God bless the great work that they will continue to do!

3 hrs to be seen by doctor when I had 4 bone breaks and major dislocation…read more Doctor said I needed surgery asap. No orthopedic there on weekends. So they did the best they could to re-align major dislocation but they said they did not have the right tools, doctor, equipment, computer software, so the could not do it right. So they just did whatever they could. "No access to orthopedic on weekends." Like being in some backwoods swamp location not Howard County, Md. They told me they were going to keep me till Monday when a Orthopedic could come and do surgery right away. About an hour later, a orderly or assistant came and told me I was released to go home. I had told them I have no way to get into my apartment because there are 4 staircases to top floor. THEY DID NOT CARE. I HAD TO CRAWL MY HANDS AND KNEES UP 4 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS, OUTSIDE IN THE COLD, WITH A TRIMALLEOLAR (TRIPLE) BONE BREAK IN MY ANKLE. I AM 66 YEAR OLD. THEY TREAT PEOPLE LIKE GARBAGE HERE. The Dr would not talk to me at release time, they sent low level staff. He gave me crutches but they were not adjusted to my height. I asked him why am I not getting surgery here from a JHU Dr but he said "the important thing is to get you out of this room." He gave me generic printout of a aftercare that did not apply to my situation. They gave me only one option to call myself for surgery, non-JHU. I called the next day cause so exausted. The place they told be to call had poor reviews and no ankle specialist. I made and appt anyway. 3 days later now they said they have no appt for me even though they sent confirmation. Potomac Valley Ortho. Now I am "shopping" on my own for a Dr but it is too late now I CANNOT GET SURGERY WITHIN A WEEK which they were so adament about but they would not help me. My foot has swollen double in size. Further more, in Emergency Room, they kept saying they would get me ice and also help me to the bathroom but they never did. Then the Dr. Patel got angry with me because I had to use the bathroom urgently. But I had been there 5 hours and no one would give me a bedpan or anything. THIS IS NO WAY TO TREAT HUMAN BEINGS OR EVEN ANIMALS. My life and being able to walk properly in the future is in jeopardy. The nurses were very good, but JHU pretends it is too broke to provide care in their hospital or adequate Drs, staff, or patient support. They only care about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Dr. Edisa Padder and her staff are wonderful. She patiently answers your questions and understands…read morethe concerns of parents with young children. When my kids were sick from overseas traveling (gastrointestinal), both Dr. Padder and her staff, Inae called to follow up and see how they were doing. We aren't the type of parents to overreact, but when we need to reach her after hours/weekends, we can get in touch through the answering service and she calls right back. She was even at the hospital the day both of our children were born. I highly recommend taking your young ones to Dr. Padder. We usually take our kids to the Columbia location, but we've visited the Laurel location as well.

1 Star - Avoid at All Costs…read more Padder Health Services has been a nightmare for my 90-year-old uninsured grandmother. They've billed her the same claim number (1050482) over and over for months with different amounts -- $325, $340, $191, $166 -- all for the same "routine" visit. Every appointment was the same: a quick chat, no improvements, but coded and billed like high-complexity cardiology. When we asked about a payment plan, the office managers refused and shamed us, saying we were "taking care away from other patients" because she couldn't pay thousands upfront. They also tacked on extra fees instead of helping. This isn't care -- it's predatory billing that leaves vulnerable elderly patients scared to seek treatment. We've since filed formal complaints with the Maryland Attorney General and the Maryland Board of Physicians for potential upcoding, repeated billing, and discriminatory conduct. If you care about your loved ones, do not bring them here. Try Luminous Health in Annapolis instead -- they treat patients like people, not ATMs.
