This changed when I decided to jump off the train one morning while I was on the way to work. All I can say is that I was impressed - very, very impressed. The coffee was nothing short of awesome, the atmosphere typical of the area, and very relaxing, and the service top notch. I can see why a lot of people stop by here for their morning coffee, but then again it probably is force of habit.

Coffee would be the 5 star rating for my experience here, everything else fell just a little bit short. The menu is interesting and like MBD, all vegetarian or vegan with loads of gluten free options. As I'm neither vego nor coeliac, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. I had a mexican bean stew that was so scolding hot that I couldn't eat a single mouthful before my dining partner had finished theirs. Even after that, by the time I struggled through a couple of painfully hot mouthfuls, there wasn't enough flavour to keep me going. My friend had the umami mushrooms, which were delicious. Although she noted that the polenta bread was really stodgy and didn't make her feel very good either. The space itself is tiny and cramped. It's not comfortable and it's LOUD. Really loud. We had to perch at the window and huddle to hear each other, while getting almost burnt from the sun rays blaring in. However, like I said, the coffee is amazing. If you were in the neighbourhood I would definitely say go in for a coffee. If you're looking for an all Veg/GF menu, it would be worth seeking out to have it paired with great coffee.

This isn't always easy when you don't know anybody but places like Romano's Coffee outlet in the QV centre in the Melbourne CBD can help ease that concern. The people working at this location are the cherry on top of a great coffee experience, and that's saying something in a city that lives and breathes coffee. I was made to feel welcome within the first week of coming here and it's as much the great personalities of the place as the coffee and fruit toast that keep me coming back. It's location is tucked away from the street and it can be a tad cool sitting in the breezeway when the sun isn't shining, but I predict it to be the oasis in your day when the summer sun beats down without mercy. So if you love good coffee, appreciate friendly service and enjoy a quiet moment of reflection, this is the place for you. And me...it's my place first.

I have to admit.. I was wrong! A mate needed a coffee.. he's a coffee junkie...and he needed it now!! So we sat in this place and ordered our drinks. Staff were friendly and attentive. Didn't even let the empty water bottle sit for any length of time, so I was looking around for cameras! lol A strong coffee was ordered for him, which had him hooked for the rest of the time in Melbourne, while I ordered a hot chocolate. I was thinking it would just a standard hot chocolate in a mug, but I was greatly surprised to be handed a small cup of a quality hot chocolate. Nothing sugary or overly sweet but something that tasted like it had been squeezed out of a dark chocolate bar itself. This became my standard order every time I went in. I didn't get a chance to try the foods but really appreciated not having white sugar on the table but rapadura. Something more raw and unprocessed. So guys.. don't dismiss this place as a cookie cutter DJ's cafe. It really does have the best in mind for you.

The cafe itself is a small place with a long communal table (inside and out) but the staff are knowledgable about their coffees (which are roasted here too). They have a very limited menu too - I tried an almond Danish and it was delicious.

They are obviously all about coffee not just selling the takeaways but also the beans and all the coffee equipment you could need to brew at home The menu is small with just a few continental type items on it but that's fine as the cafe can only seat about 10-15 people at a squeeze. It's more your pick a coffee on the way to work kinda place rather than meet for breakfast venue. The team are all pretty knowledgable about coffee and the product they are selling. The only down point I can mention is the time it takes to get a coffee. Each time I've gone in there it has take a while to get served and then waited a while for my coffee. I will keep going back though cause the coffee is pretty good

I haven't had the coffee so I can't comment on that, but I have had their freshly squeezed orange juice and assorted wraps and baguettes, all toasted of course. There's also a menu to try and I haven't had the chance to experience yet, that's on my food to-do list (or is that to-eat list?). The staff always greet me with a smile and has a nice welcoming vibe to it when you sit down. You feel a little hip. During the morning, it can get extremely busy, but which café doesn't? There's plenty of room to sit down and considering how close it is to my work, it's usually my go to café when I'm feeling a little hungry at work, which is all the time.

I am a straight up latte drinker, so that's what I order every day without fail. And believe me, when you order lattes all day everyday, you want to know you will be getting a good latte. The most impressive feat Tom Thumb achieves is the consistently good quality of coffee they pump out, despite the different baristas who stand behind the coffee machine! Speaking of baristas, these guys are also one of the friendliest bunch of caffeine-addicts around town! They know most of their regular customers by name, know their usual orders, and are always friendly and upbeat despite the long queues! For those of you who love a treat or two along with your coffee, Tom Thumb regularly stocks donuts that are to die for, scrolls, and peanut butter cookies (oh god).
