Stayed here on a 5 night break booked through On The Beach. I would not recommend using On The…read moreBeach, as it would work out cheaper to do it yourself, just to get that out the way, and their transfers were so poor they were unusable. A taxi from Malaga airport costs around 100 Euros, which if you split it with another couple, as we did, worked out cheaper than transfers. Anyway! The hotel itself is great - we upgraded to a suite for 25 Euros per night when we got there - glad we did, it was palatial. Massive bed, lovely marble bathroom, huge balcony with sofa, table and chairs and sunloungers. The maid service came twice a day and there was nothing more they could have done to make our stay more comfortable - simply brilliant. The pool area is lovely and serene, no loud music blaring and as it's an adults-only hotel, no kids shrieking either! There is a second quieter, smaller pool if you want to really get away from it. The pool restaurant/bar was good, usually good service and quick. Didn't use the spa, so can't comment on that. Buffet breakfast was certainly worth paying for, as the choice was phenomenal. The made-to-order omelettes were delicious, get there early though as there can be quite a queue for those. Never had any trouble finding a sun lounger - usually laid in the palm tree garden which was lovely. It was quite breezy when we were there in September, and a bit cooler than usual, according to the staff. The beach is about a 10 minute walk away, however, it is not suitable for bathing on or in. There is a shop a short walk away on the same side of road as hotel, however it is poorly stocked and closes and opens at erratic times (or did when we were there!). The hotel itself is lovely but situated beside a very busy highway. None of the rooms overlook this though, so noise isn't an issue. However, it does mean if you want to go somewhere other than the shop or the few restaurants nearby, you have to walk quite a way to get to the flyover (which is shonkily constructed!) or take cabs. A cab into Estepona cost around 15 Euros and took about 10-15 mins. Overall, I'd definitely go back to Senator Banus.

After two agonizing and toxic-smelling nights at our spacious 'Time & Home' rental by "Marriott",…read morehubs and I knew we had to get the hell out. What really broke the camel's back after 2 days in, was that the entire house reeked like sewage. Hubs Google mapped Guadalmina as our final and God-send destination to continue celebrating my birthday. Guadalmina opens up with grand style. Lots of terracotta, high ceilings, wood beams and porcelain tiles to give the entrance that Marbella touch and elegance. The hosts (and there were several) were pleasant. Compared to where we came from, our room was equipped with a balcony+sea view, TV, twin beds made into a Queen ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, air conditioning, bathtub with shower head and a few other necessities. There is no valet and when hubs asked the doorman/greeter to park it, all he said was, "we don't do that here because everyone parks their own car...but if you want me to, I will". Ok then, so no valet. Restaurant on site is put together and crisp. Complimentary breakfast/brunch buffet was real spread with quality offerings including bubbly and fresh squeezed oj at your convenience. Pool access+chairs is €0. Beach access however, will cost you €20 but that gives you the entire day to dip and sunbathe as often as you like in a given day, you can take breaks in between and can leave the premises if you want. Cocktails at the pool bar are weak so I suggest you keep your money in your pocket. For an exclusive hotel and for what hubs paid for- for 4 days, it DID NOT include: bottled water (which sold for €4. Really???), iron was missing (I did a MacGyver and used the hair blower to get rid of wrinkles on clothes), bathroom essentials or wastebasket baggies. Overall, Guadalmina was a nice stay in Marbella and a stone's throw away from the beach.

Full breakfast is included for the price of your visit, and activities are run throughout the day (although we did not partake in these). Clientele is definitely focused on the golf available on the resort, and in the area. Friendly and accommodating staff. Wi-fi is also included with your stay, but it is spotty - had to disconnect and reconnect many, many, many times.
