It was a natural…read moreblend that requires you mix the oil with the butter when you first open it...but this blend was so old that the butter was rock hard and it wouldn't mix, so I, of course, wanted to return it. I went to this GNC and the one guy that works there full-time starts giving me a hard time after I tried to explain what happened. I accidentally let the word "expired" slip because that's what I assumed it was, but no where on the container did it say that, and he tried to tell me he couldn't accept the return because it was "expired" even though it technically wasn't and it doesn't mention expirations in the return policy, which I had a copy of on me. Basically, it turned into a shouting match that eventually ended up in this guy threatening to get me banned from all GNCs because of my previous returns (I returned a SEALED container of Macca powder because I found it at half the price at Target later that day) and he thought I was ripping him off (did I mention the jar of peanut butter was full and not used once?). Anyways, I got the return thank god, but I won't be shopping at his GNC anymore.

RT has prepared food that is of exceptional quality day in and day out. They don't have the biggest selection of produce, but what they do have is excellent. Take the peppers or scallions for example, and don't forget that with fruit and produce, the eye test is not typically the best test. Grocery stores do all kinds of things to their foods to make them look more appealing, but often the taste doesn't match the appearance or quality. The frozen section at RT is great. They have some hard-to-find Van Leeuwen's flavors as well as non-dairy, vegan, GF ice cream that will scratch your itch for sweets. The bread (in the front by the door) is brought in from a local baker along with the croissants, and if you get them first thing in the morning while still warm, you won't be disappointed. The supplements they carry are all selected and merchandised purposefully. Meaning, there is nothing on their shelves that hasn't been painstakingly considered in terms of quality, environmental impact and sustainability. Ask any of the staff, like Steve or Rose, and they will give you an incredibly detailed overview of the product, the ingredients, and the flavor profile. They are the best! Finally, the prepared food, as I said, is extremely high quality. Unlike so many other restaurants or specialty grocers, you can't always trust the ingredients. The term "spices" or "natural flavors" could be anything. RT, very intentionally, ensures all the ingredients are conveniently listed for each prepared food item. TL;DR This is a top-notch health food store - one of the best on Long Island. So much so, consider it a destination location. I recommend it for prepared foods, shakes, supplements, and certainly your specialty grocery needs. Couple this with meticulously merchandised products, a kind and exceedingly service-oriented staff, and you have a recipe for success.

The Sales Associate showed me the flavors that she has displayed on the shelves for 12 bottles of Total Lean Shake (Ready to Drink). I went with a box of Strawberry and Banana (I don't like to eat the actual banana but I don't mind a flavored drink). I absolutely love when Total Lean Shake has a promotion of buy 1 get 1 50%.
