I really appreciated that the kids playground was covered so the metal wasn't too hot to play on. I actually checked and felt it. I do wish the benches there were more in the shade too though. The splash pad was pretty big and tons of fun for the littles. The park also inches a skate park, ball field, basket ball/racket ball areas, and a dog park. Lit up very well with maintenance and security roaming around, which I also appreciated. It seems to be very well taken care of and will be on the list for fun activities this summer for sure.

George R. Kennedy Memorial Park is located on S. Riverside Drive in Edgewater just across from Edgewater's City Hall. This was Deacon's first historical site with his maw maw YoYo on her trek to see all things historical. He seemed to enjoy the adventure. The Cruger-de-Peyster Plantation Sugar Mill Ruins are superb. There are hiking trails in to the jungle like funa but we didn't have bug spray. I keep it in my car but we were enjoying Kayla's new rocking rover!!! We saw quite a few lizards. I guess they are a local staple to the wildlife here. Their little throats blow out a orangish bag, weird to us West Virginians....lol!! This park is nice! Pets allowed Small parking lot. They have a dock overlooking the water that you can also fish off of. Playground for the kiddos. Plenty of beach area for swimming and for launching kayaks. The boat ramp was pretty active with decent sized boats coming in or launching so we felt more comfortable using the beach. Out in the water we saw jellyfish, dolphins, crabs, hermit crabs, oysters, and lots of fish. There are a lot of sandbars and oyster beds out here so it's a good idea to have water shoes so you don't slice your foot open on an oyster shell. You can manage without them if you're really careful, but I don't recommend it. We had to get out a couple times and carry our kayak over a sand bar. We saw some in a small boat have to do the same. If you are kayaking be mindful of the motorboats and stay by the shore. Bug spray! We forgot to bring it. it wasn't terrible but I think we were fortunate. Fishing. We didn't go fishing but fish were literally jumping out of the water all over the place. If I owned fishing gear I would absolutely fish in this area. We did see a few out fishing. Even heard someone exclaim "another one!!!" With great excitement from across the bay. Haha. If you enjoy bird watching, you'll enjoy going through the nearby mangroves.

I found this beautiful little park while driving along the river east of Oak Hill, when I say small…read moreI mean small, the entire park is on the east side of the road on a very narrow strip of land. There are a number of parking spaces that barely allows the back of your vehicle to clear the traffic and once you exit you're only a few feet from the water's edge. There are a few benches next to the shore line and a small covered pavilion with a few picnic tables providing some shelter from the weather. Fortunately I meet a new friend (Steve) who seems to come here often just to relax and enjoy the view and occasionally wet a line - he did tell me it's fairly easy to snag a few fish using live bait which he catches with his cast-net. This is definitely a place I plan to return and probably a great place to get in my daily steps. Note - There are no restrooms or fresh water, it's very primitive but a real gem...

Gentle river and cool…read morebreezes Riverbreeze Park is well named because no matter how hot it gets around here a cool breeze always seems to be flowing off the water. The park is 37 acres with 5 acres right on the water and the rest of the park is within a stone's throw of the river. The park has a great boat ramp that allows access to the river and cool paths that that circle around the park for some easy hiking. A huge boardwalk extends out into the river and offers some great fishing or bird watching opportunities. The park is open 24 hours and has some of the cleanest bathrooms I have even seen in a public place. The entire area was appreciated by the native americans for centuries and lots of artifacts and huge mounds of clams, oysters and other shellfish are still being discovered. The park is definitely a cool and relaxing place to sit, walk, fish or just become one with the flow of the river.

A park with an…read moreocean Callalisa Park is a small place that serves as a place to go to another place.. It doesn't really have an ocean but it does have a nice boat ramp and parking area. From the park you can get into Callalisa Creek, then into the Indian River, then into the Intracoastal Waterway and then into the Atlantic Ocean if you want. Not a whole lot in the small park, just some benches and trash cans but it is a great place to fish or better yet launch a boat and go somewhere else. No bathrooms or drinking water and the parking lot does get bumpy and muddy in the wet season but the park and ramp is a very convenient place to get access to some very cool water.

There is a Sugar Mill Ruins located here as well as some gorgeous flowers to fully enjoy! Unbelievably, it's FREE to enjoy and accepts Donations! Be sure to check the mailbox at the entrance area for a map of the grounds! The kids enjoyed walking around and seeing the historic ruins of the Sugar Mill. It was very relaxing and shaded! I'm totally into the flowers because it reminds me so much of my daddy! I love Google image search because you can locate on the internet information about the flowers and plants including their names! Definitely if you are in the area, check it out! Highly recommend
