We expected rain at around noon that never came, but ended up warming up to the point where we were peeling off a layer for delightful low 70s sunny weather. I learned to play in college but only pick up a stick once or twice every year. Still the education I got from the head Men's coach of our local community college is paying off 30 years later. The front nine are flat and open. The back nine is the older original course which is a little more tricky having shots from low to high and vice versa amongst older growth trees. We played best ball (3 vs 4). Chirp, Dick and myself against Dan, Matt, Moose and Tom. We a shot 64 with 6 birdies and two boogies for the win. On the 15th hole I tee'd off with an 8 iron for the "shot of the day", shooting within 12 inches to the pin. The front 9 played a little lighter than the back. Save your energy for the back. The club house had some really nice merchandise but are still posting signs out front for social distancing and limiting one person at the register although they said verbally to allow 2-3 people inside at a time. Things are opening up again. Each of the carts also has a plastic partition. The one complaint is that the plastic sheet acted like sail and wasn't fastened well so the wind would it flap into you. It's an overall short course but the layout is so unique and the yardage is short which makes low scores a possibility. For 40 bucks this course is worth it. There's a few dry spots on the greens and in the rough but for the most part, putts roll true. Pace of play was good too, about 4 hours on a packed tee sheet. I love playing here and I will continue to play here.

I got 6 of the Honey Bourbon & 6 of the Traditional Hot with ranch & blue cheese with a Miller Lite. The wings came out & were literally fall off the bone tender. Every. Single. One. The bones could be pulled out clean with no meat. I've never had wings like this from any other place. It's a mini golf course & a driving range with a sleeper on craft food. On a couple of holes we had to study the map and figure out where to tee off. It's do able, but it can be very confusing. Around the greens there was a lot of dead grass making it difficult at times to locate your ball. The fairways were great, the greens were great, just a lot of dead grass around the outsides of the greens. It had rained here for several days in a row so Km sure not being able to mow until it was out of control is to blame. All in all, it's a fun place to play once you figure out where the next hole is.

Whereas it is a nice layout in general and features good greens, most of their tee boxes (front) are in terrible shape. Most tee boxes are exceptionally small, poorly maintained, and rarely flat. I was surprised at how tight and how much ungulation this course has for being out in the cornfields. Greens: 4.3/5 Fairways: 4.1/5 Tees: 4/5 This course is different from any other course in East Central Indiana. And that's a good thing because most are flat with little challenge, but Royal Hylands has it all.. multiple water hazards, abundant trees and plenty of ungulation. I would recommend this course to anyone who's tired of playing the same courses in ECI.
