There's something odd with the custom mirror business in Toronto... when I decided to put a custom…read moremirror, I contacted about 5~7 places (and all of them have good reviews on various platforms), most of them never replied; and some took more than a week to reply and wanted a fee just to have someone come by to take measurements. I didn't contact Gerrard during the first round, as it only had 3 on Yelp. However, it was suggested to me by my closet guy and Lowes' (I want to give kudos to Lowe's. I contacted them to see if they do custom mirror, they replied within 24 hrs, and while regrettably they no longer do, they looked up business in my vicinity and gave me suggestions. The other big names Home Depot and Rona never got back to me) Gerrard' response is still slower than I'd like but faster and more consistent in communication compared to the other companies. They sent out a guy to take measurement and was able to order the mirror right away. The missing one star is that they sometimes drop the balls on the confirmation of details and time and dates and I had to chase up on that. Come the day of installation, the workers were quick and courteous. They were careful when transporting the mirrors on the elevator. Mirrors were installed without much issue. They did their best to keep the work area tidy and put everything back as best as they could. A few days later, I noticed a screw in my closet that was drilled way past the shelf, with the sharp end protruding, prob due to the installer's drill going too powerful when they put it back. I was not upset but just wasn't sure what to do about it. I contacted Gerrard asking for suggestion, along with the picture showing the screw hanging naked out of the shelf. Within a few hours, I heard a knock, and it was the installers who came back and apologizing profusely for the mistake. They took the screw out and replaced it properly. Overall I think they try the best to satisfy customers, even if they can't get 100% right away, and that's very commendable.

I purchased custom sized glass shelves and cabinet door glass, before I saw the terrible reviews,…read moreso I was apprehensive when I went to pick them up. I had called and ordered a second piece of plain glass due to a mistake on my part in the original order. When I unwrapped the shelves they were fine but the extra piece was an inch too short. I sent an email that night and received a call the next day apologizing, telling me they'd immediately cut a replacement and politely asking me to return the mis-cut piece. They were friendly and courteous when I picked it up. I was taken aback at the cost and haven't compared with anyone else but in fairness I thought I should note that the service was quick and they were very easy to deal with.

I had a custom tempered glass panel made for a fireplace in my old loft, and recently I had a custom shower door and mirrors installed in my new home and I couldn't be happier and I was glad I didn't waste my money by doing it through the builder. I also have been recommending Gilbert Glass to my friends and neighbours with no hesitations. I'm proud to say that Gilbert has grown his business and moved to larger facilities in Scarborough but still services the downtown area. My last install Richard and his assistant installed my shower glass and he was very friendly, professional and courteous. My bathroom had thick and large pieces of commercial-grade porcelain tiles on the wall which made installing the shower door especially hard to install. I was really worried that the tile may crack but Richard managed to drill through the tile for the shower door hinges perfectly, which involved going through half a dozen special drill bits and hours of careful drilling. I really appreciated his hard work, while still keeping a positive composure without any complaints despite the difficult and lengthy installation. I have a couple more projects for my home which I will definitely be calling Gilbert to custom fabricate for me.

We set a date for installation and he came promptly and efficiently installed two new windows for a reasonable price. Mike was very polite, friendly and competent. I personally recommend them for replacing the crappy windows whose warranty wasn't worth the paper it was written on. That's a different review, hahahaha!

I am very disappointed with my experience with Brightview Glass Replacement…read more I hired this company to replace glass panes in my living room, dining room, and kitchen. The installation on August 29 appeared rushed and resulted in multiple issues, including a damaged baseboard, a poorly fitted kitchen pane (left side of the sliding window), and damage to the right-side kitchen window. During installation, parts of the right-side window were covered with green tape. I was told by Mike it was temporary to hold the glass in place. When I removed it a few days later, I discovered the handle had been broken and concealed with tape and silicone. Upon closer inspection, the damage was not limited to the handle -- there were visible cracks, deformation, and extensive silicone along the frame. This was never disclosed, and the repair was messy and unprofessional. The payment process was also concerning. Although the total cost was agreed in advance, I was advised to pay in cash on the day of installation. I paid part of the balance in cash and was then asked to go to the bank to withdraw additional funds. I was followed to the bank so I could make a further payment, with the remaining balance paid later by e-transfer. Before making the payment, I confirmed I would receive an invoice for warranty purposes, but no invoice or receipt was ever provided. I reported the damage and requested an invoice in writing on September 4, but received no response. During cold weather, the same poorly fitted pane developed frost on the inside of the house, which did not occur with the original glass or other windows. I followed up again regarding both the invoice and warranty service for the poorly fitted pane and again received no reply. I also sent a formal follow-up email summarizing the payment and issues -- this was also ignored. Overall, this experience showed a lack of transparency, poor workmanship, and no follow-up. A 5-year warranty was offered, but in my case it has not been honored despite multiple written requests for warranty service. I would NOT recommend this company.
