This is a joke! I got an online quote that said it included everything: the glass, the wipers, the rain repellent, and the mobile delivery service... all for a specific headline price. Then I get to the checkout screen and it's nearly $100 more.
They completely shifted the numbers around at the very last second--adding a recycling fee and tax, while deducting a discount--making it so the original quote amount is never actually reflected on the checkout page anywhere. The final fee ends up about $70 over the original advertised price. I can understand standard state sales tax, but an inescapable corporate "recycle fee" should absolutely be included in the original quote upfront. In fact, under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA), hiding unavoidable, mandatory fees like this is considered "drip pricing" and a form of bait-and-switch because it intentionally distorts a consumer's ability to comparison-shop.
To make it worse, when I contacted support, the representative tried to tell me the price jump was because the wipers and rain repellent were extra charges on top of the quote--completely contradicting what the screen actually said! The whole interaction was incredibly frustrating. I will never trust Safelite again, and I would not recommend them to anyone. Not based on their physical work, but based on their deceptive business practices. read more
