Been going to her for about 2 years now. She's the only one who told me to stop straightening my hair and showed me how to work with it's natural texture. The result... CURLS. I mean, where have you been all my life curls. When ever I go visit her I get compliments for days after. Her salon is very shabby chic with a touch of Paris and she's a one chair salon. Her appointment book fills up fast because of it; however, you are alone with her in the salon and get one on one care. Swooz really spends time with each client and gets to know them. I also talked with her about coloring my hair and how we could just touch up my balayage that I already had Today I went in for my hair appointment. Paige absolutely nailed it! The color fix she did to my hair made it seem like we colored my whole head and the color blended so well with what I already had. But I saw Sarah for a cut and balayage (my first!) this week, and I'm so glad I did! I was bored of my medium-length, one-color hair but am pretty low-maintenance (read: lazy) so I wanted a style that I could air-dry most days and that wouldn't get terrible roots as it grew out a bit. Sarah cut my hair so it actually curls better than ever but still looks cute when straightened, and has nice subtle highlights to spice it up a bit (and because it's balayage, roots aren't an issue). For about $25 + tip we would receive a facial or eyelash extension, makeover, snacks, drinks and a goody bag. When we walked into this place we were slightly confused about how they would fit us all into this tiny space of sinks and counter space. We waited outside (literally because it was too small) for about 25 minutes when my friend knocked on the glass to ask about us coming in.As they were looking at a beauty magazine they said it would be just one moment. FInally we were able to come in to start the makeovers! Soon after our first friend received a facial we were greeted by the "assistant" who came in with bottles of white wine (wahoo!) and Harris Teeter cupcakes. Then it went all downhill from here. I have to say that the ladies running the show were extremely sweet, friendly and entertaining. Unfortunately though after our first friend received her new makeover we were all a little hesitant to be the next in the chair. Every girl's makeup was overly caked on with little thought into our different skintone colors. The night turned from excitement to a four hour joke (that is how long it took us to get through this mistaken night). I started to feel bad after the third girl when directly from the makeup chair to the bathroom to wash off the makeup that was just applied. I am not quite sure if these ladies really thought we looked good or were just trying to make it through the long night. I'm going to wrap-it-up by saying that after my makeover I couldn't even pretend to smile and look satisfied I had to let the lady know that it was just way too much and of course she was very nice to take some of it off. Oh I forgot...we did not receive a goody bag at the end of the night...it was probably for the best. I had been in town for just over a week when I was getting out of an interview downtown and was looking for a place to eat. I accidentally found this alley of stores that had a couple of hair shops. I had already been browsing Yelp for some potentials. When it came time to make an appointment though every shop was booked. I was finally able to get an opening at Technicuts with Ashley. After showing her a pic of my last haircut (a very bad one, but it was all I had) in Cali she went to work. I was pretty stoked at the end. My hair looked great, she did it quickly, was precise and I got good insight on what to do in Charlotte. I already booked my next appointment.

All it did was make me regret saving $5 and force me to hang my head in shame for the great new bowl cut they hooked me up with. I've learned my lesson and I will now only go to my own stylist now. After sitting with my hair for a couple days, I'm just very upset. The overall vibe/aesthetic of…read morethe place was great, but my stylist didn't give me the service I requested. Immediately after I sat down, he recommended I cut my hair almost up to my shoulders (it was down to my waist) and I said no. I asked for 2"-2.5" off my ends, some long layers and a bang trim. Nothing crazy. He showed me how much he was going to cut from a shorter section of my hair, seemed like the agreed upon amount, but instead of cutting that off my ends and keeping my length, he just cut straight across from that point pretty much up to what he recommended in the beginning. I was obviously very upset. We had to pause for a moment before he continued. I also had to tell him twice not to take any weight out of my bangs, just straighten them out. When my hair was finished, I was happy and it looked nice. The technique was there and I was relieved that it looked good but it was wayyy shorter than what I wanted. On the way home I got more upset about it and it was just not the best experience. I didn't feel listened to or respected in my choices and he made a few comments about how I previously cut my own hair. I really tried to keep calm after my hair was chopped and remained respectful, but now I'm definitely not happy about the service and how I was treated.
