Greeters and ushers are extremely welcoming and the prayer teams after service do a nice job. The safety team does a great job at protecting the campus at all times and I felt extremely safe going to Northway. Cons: The church statement and beliefs. Northway is a great church overall, but I confess we left extremely hurt. Everything was going well until we asked the Wexford campus pastor, Ryan Paskey to marry us. If you want to get married there, don't live together before marriage-my fiancée and I didn't realize this. We didn't know this was frowned upon with living together before marriage under the same roof. We were uneducated. Pastor Ryan refused to marry us unless we either (A.) moved the wedding date to the next week or (B.) he said we would have to move out of our home together, live apart and wait till our wedding date to move back in together. In addition to moving out, the Wexford Pastor said if we continued to live together, we both must resign immediately and give up our leadership positions within the church. There's a leadership covenant that you are expected to sign and we had no idea about this. This was never communicated till we approached the Wexford pastor. The last thing Paskey said that hurt the most was how the man needs to run the house and be in charge and women have 0 power and must be homemakers. Otherwise God was not present in our home. Remember that speech the Kansas City Chiefs kicker gave? That's what Northway believes and how the Wexford preacher spoke to us. Also, they don't remember you since it's a mega church and forget the new people. With all this being said, we stepped away and found a new church home thankfully. We were deeply hurt, confused, angry and disappointed. We believe God wasn't angry at us. We forgive pastor Ryan, but we highly disagree with the views he displayed. We felt compelled to write this review to prevent others from making the same mistakes we did. We will respect Northway, the staff and the people for who they are, but we highly disagree with the views and church statement of values. We wish them all the best moving forward. We just don't plan to attend there unless serious changes of modernization are made.

The focus has changed to be ALL about supporting the pastor's vision, and growing Victory, as if it's not big enough. They simply want ever more of your time and money. They have a Kingdom Builders program, which is designed to convince you to donate your estate to Victory. Apparently, God, through Victory, needs your money, more than your kids do. Their 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ministry room, is like entering a night club, I kid you not. Booming bass, and just chaos all around. It's one thing to meet kids where they're at. It's another to use wordly music/methods to attempt to preach whatever watered down Gospel they try to preach. Same with adult service. The worship has become a rock concert type of entertainment. No one seems to know the songs in the audience, or if they do, they simply can't sing it, because they really aren't designed for congregational singing. The focus is on the worship band, with camera close ups of the band on the big screen. Smoke machine galore. I can almost expect and tolerate this for teens. But adults should know better. Last summer 2024, for a few weeks, the main pastor and other pastors decided to phone in their sermons. They recorded them, and then played them on Sunday morning, with a theater type theme, giving out popcorn, etc. While, I'm all for everyone taking vacation, why not simply say so, and have one of your other pastors give the sermon. And stop with all the "cool" gimmicks. That's simply not necessary to preach the Gospel. Jesus didn't use gimmicks. He performed great miracles, as did the Apostles. You will NEVER convince the world that Christianity is cool, and hip.

I researched other nearby churches, but the others did not clearly honor Jesus in their "About Us" section or have a Bible-based belief system. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and enjoyed coffee and donuts before service. The worship was simple and heartfelt with contemporary songs. The teaching was on the power of persistent prayer, and it was delivered with doses of scripture, personal testimony and humor. If we lived in this area, we would be back.
