Not a safe place for dogs when you are not around…read more Pros - Karen is amazing and one of the nicest people. She was the reason I started boarding my dog here. However, she is only there during weekdays. On the weekends, the place turns into a nightmare. Cons - the owner, Jason, should not be allowed to interact with animals. He constantly complains that my dog and other dogs would bark and that would psychologically irritate him. He even admits to spraying my dog with water to punish him. Ive had several other acquaintances try out this place and get bad feelings from him. Why would someone who hates dogs barking run a dog boarding resort? My dog rarely barks and only does if there is an intruder or there is something wrong. He never barks with Karen. I finally had enough when Jason told me that he would only allow my dog to come back if I SEDATE AND DRUG MY DOG during the whole boarding time. After hearing that, I decided this is not the proper safe place to board my dog or any other animal. Best beware of this place. You may not like what Jason does to your dogs when you are away.

I felt like I could hang out there and feel more at home than any Starbucks. Our Lab and Golden Retriever were greeted by Piper the pig and a very sweet chocolate lab which added a special experience for myself and our dogs both. Their staff was able to answer all of our strange questions relating to diet and our efforts with homemade dog treats as well as our routine checkup needs. They even went so far as to match a competitors price on a specific medicine. You can tell there is a lot of passion from her staff about what they do. Dr Kate seems very perceptive and socially adept both towards our dogs and us. She knew my male dog needed a little extra dominance with the other animals around and to my surprise Dr Kate didn't miss a beat. She also was understanding about a personal loss in our family and how it related to one of our dogs chewing a spot on his leg out of stress. Meanwhile she was able to check ears, teeth, give a shot and clipped my dogs nails all happened very fast because he was comfortable with the attention and positive fun setting. After the fancy office and all of the special treatment I was expecting to see a huge bill for everything and it was actually priced very competitively. DO NOT take your pet to this vet. She caused deafness to my dog who was already blind by using an…read moreunnecessary ear treatment! I had my regular vet back in Chicago verify that the treatment she used is not safe for all dogs and can cause deafness in some. My dog had exceptional hearing the day I walked in, and despite his blindness was able to live a pretty normal life. Following the sound of my voice he was able to run and play with no problem. After Dr. Kate treated him (all I went in for was an allergy shot for him but she "upsold" me saying he could use ear cleaning!!). I walked out of there with a deaf dog and his hearing never came back. It changed both our worlds for the worse!! He has never been the same. If I could give NEGATIVE amount of stars I would! To top it off when I tried to speak to her about it AND sent a letter, I was completely ignored. I did get a "welcome to our practice" card in the mail a couple weeks later which only infuriated me. Do yourself a favor ...find ANY other Veterinarian in the area. Not Kate. Her license should be taken away. If I had the time and finances I'd have gone after her legally.

After that experience, I decided to bring our second Frenchie in for an ear infection, and once again the service was excellent. Dr. Shannon Reed-Herrick was extremely thorough and did an amazing job explaining everything clearly and thoughtfully. I really loved her approach and felt confident in the care our dogs received. The pricing has been great every time, the clinic is very clean and well-kept, and we are so happy we found this vet, especially since it's so close to our home. We'll definitely be switching all of our pets here for long-term care.

I've tolerated one for 33 years who was second rate but came to my house thereby not stressing animals out but had to visit his part time clinic for blood draws and urinalysis- not able to perform in home. I used specialty veterinarians to compensate- at great expense. I'm opting for knowledgeable, caring and focused treatment not to mention availability to see them!! Especially with cats who are getting older! Honest, capable and caring.....it doesn't get better than this! I've been in the animal rescue world and have had fur children for 4 decades.......My veterinarians are a top priority. The staff is so important too!! So glad I found Dr. Nina and everyone! Dr. Arik Skogstad was very nice and he did a full exam on our dog. He gave our dog subcutaneous fluids, a B12 shot and probiotics. I brought in a stool sample and will get the results on Monday. They also expressed his anal glands. I highly recommend Wellness Animal Hospital.
