Very scenic rolling landscape with trails and friendly DNR staff. Had a nice swim in the lake (Signaless) at the peak of water lily season. But it gets more interesting. I awoke in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep. What's there to do in a state park about 3 AM? Not wanting to disturb the sleeping campers, I began hiking the prairie trail up to the highest point in the park, bathed in moonlight. The trail was mowed so it was easy to keep to the path. The trail passed through a dark wood where it was less obvious where to walk, but eventually I came to a bench overlooking a vast moonlit scene. Here the fascinating thing was the ebb and flow of fog in the prairie valleys below me. The fog would advance uphill to my position, enveloping the peak, then retreat suddenly. I must have sat there more than an hour watching this spectacle, before I was tired enough to return to my tent for some sleep. read more
